There is another version of this that shows the ball headed for the outside (right) shoulder of the WR. As you can tell, impact prior to the ball getting there changed the location of the receiver.

PI without question.

good call.
I don’t expect any of you To say it was a bad call he got there the same time the ball did but who cares let’s see if you can do it two more times

Like I said in my post, I couldn’t make that call in a high school game.
I couldn't make it watching the clip, game OR the picture!!
I could.

It was DPI.

See how easy that was?

😊
I think Logan Mccoy will get a starting guard spot next as well. He will be a young junior at just turning 16 but from what I here is one of the strongest kids on the whole team
That picture is a still image. You can’t even see the ball. At that point the ball has already been deflected and contact is allowed

I don’t want any trouble but I couldn’t make the call due to smith body was going in direction of sideline and ball appeared to be thrown to inside. This part is in no way a shot at Dixon, but with basically one hand on smith he doesn’t appear to be strong enough to move smith entire weight and momentum with on hand. His hand is clearly on smith back but his fingers are not closed pulling, Jersey wasn’t stretched. I can’t make the call cause a ball thrown to wrong side is a ball in play even if there is contact and in this case hand contact not resulting in the movement of players or even a jersey. But I didn’t get paid to make the call, it is all in speculation at this point. Happy Thanksgiving

There is a version of this play (still pic) that shows the ball about 10 yards back and you can tell it's going to the WR's outside (right) shoulder. There is no question Smith was hit early and knocked over as the play happened. It could have been called or not called and nobody really has a right to be pissed to be honest.

Officials make horrible calls in a game by game basis and this one IMO would be difficult to complain about either way.
^^^^This!! It’s one of those calls. Personally from what I viewed, I wouldn’t have called it. Now again, I just a video so.... but even though I wouldn’t have called it. It is by definition, DPI. Now do those plays happen all the time with no call? Yep. But just because something is wrong most of the time doesn’t justify it. Like FoSho said, no one can be pissed either way.
Only going to my point if they called a hand on opposing player you would call it every time the ball is thrown. How many times honestly have you seen put his back hand on a db hand or arm while ball is in flight. If your going to call it one way gotta call it both. Back to ground and pound to prevent penalties.

You can’t see the ball???

Keep in mind this was a three yard stop pattern. The DB was a good 5 yards off the WR, broke on the ball to make a play and arrived early. He made a good play on it but he was a little early w/o question. His momentum took him thru Smith, it wasn't a "hand on the WR" waiting for the ball to arrive.

I can see it and I'm half blind .
