I think personally North is in a 'building a good program phase' & when you have positive things happening in the lower ranks of a program like that (Freshmen and JV going undefeated), it does nothing but build success. Then too, when younger kids are looking up to older kids who are winning - it sticks and you have kids wanting to continue the tradition. I see NL getting better every year from here on out barring some major unexpected circumstance. I'll be surprised if they aren't in the thick of things this up coming season. I threw a cupcake at a window once and broke it - true story!!

I've never really quite understood this "entitled rich kid" stereotype of Corbin. I went to school there my entire life, graduated, and know people who did the same spanning a 30-40 year period. What I know of Corbin, is a mixture of all kinds of backgrounds.
Sure, you have your kids who come from Medical, legal, or banking families, but that's just a portion. Corbin does have a larger "middle class" enrollment from most schools, but that's due to location. With CSX, Whayne Supply, and Pepsi being in town, most kids will go to the school that is in their actual town. On top of that, you have children of people who work for KSP, or the Federal Prisons in Manchester or McCreary.
The biggest portion of students that I can remember come from more humble beginnings. I'm not saying, it's a school full of dope head's children, but there are a lot of farm kids, lower income kids, and the like.
While you will always have your cliques amongst teenage kids, one thing that at least I experienced was nearly everyone in my class got along. We would have our tight knit group of friends, but we all knew each other well, had crossed paths and hung out at some point. Maybe that was due to my class not having many kids transfer in and out over the span of our school career, but it was a great group and I enjoyed my time at Corbin.

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head, back in the 80's, when I was in HS that was pretty much the way it was at Corbin too. A lot of people moved in to Corbin with L&N back then - so had Kids from all over the country going to school there, moving to Corbin with their Parents who were transferred to Corbin for employment.

Corbin's biggest problem is putting people in the right place, they have about 7 or more players that can play on either side of the ball Brock, Cima, Lambert, Hampton, French, Carter, Reedy and Sevier I'm sure they are a few not mentioned.
Corbin has a stable of running backs with a variety of running styles so I don't think you will see 1 running back getting as many touches as Coppik, but you will see a lot of carry's by different people. With Sizemore at QB you add another threat, looks like a fullback coming out of the backfield and this will stretch most defenses especially in short yardage.
Defensive line will be very good as most return and the secondary may be the fastest I have seen here in years. The line backers will be very physical with Brock, Cima.
Corbin will also add to their very talented freshman class as 2 big lineman (both over 6'1 and 260) will be coming down from South Laurel. The future looks bright in redhound land.

I think Corbin's run game will be even tougher to defend this year. Although I don't think anyone will come very close to replacing coppock at RB, I expect to see more read option this year. I'd also like to see some inverted veer, with sizemore's skill set I think it would be very hard to stop.

Corbin was a blue collar town in their glory days. L&N and US Steel provided a lot of jobs back in the day. If they can get back to those blue collar roots they could become a monster. They have lots of bodies and an excellent coaching staff. If the kids become engrossed in playing football again the glory days will be here again.

Corbin will be very good this year. Make no mistake. I think 2016 and 2017 is there years though. If they haven't won a state title by 2018, id be surprised.
Those frosh and sophomores and some of the best in the state.

I'm not supposed to like Corbin but I agree with that

A few months ago there were rumors floating around that a couple kids might transfer in. Any truth to them?

I think there was truth in some families potentially moving and checking Corbin out as a destination, but nothing has come to fruition.

I wonder how coach Haddix likes it in Corbin to be honest..... Or, I wonder the opposite. Do they really like him? He seems like a energetic young coach, but is his personality what the redhound faithful want!? Seems pretty cocky to me.

I think the feeling is mutual between Haddix, the players, and the community. Everyone involved is glad he is at Corbin.

The support he receives from the community is unbelievable. He is exactly what the Redhound faithful want.

I seen on Facebook that Coach Hasdix had his youth camp and had over 100 kids at his camp.. Maybe 150 kids.. I'd say that there is love from both sides..

That's good! Hopefully they can stay excited and he stays there. However. I see him coaching on Saturday games.... It's whatever makes ya happy though

Hearing more coaches were added to the staff. Did somebody leave? Does anybody know who coaches what? Obviously Haddix runs the offense and Greer the defense.
06-26-2015, 03:56 PM
I hadn't heard that anyone left, but that's it sorta hard to believe because I heard there was 2-3 new names.... He had 6-7 coaches on the roster last year if I remember correctly. They might need them though if they are gonna dress over a hundred players! Lol

He was a long time assistant under Coach Jewell and took off last year to care for his sick father.
