Greenup County 2010
Coupon21 Wrote:Dusitin was out yesterday working on proper form to run a 4O. It is great having all the basketball boys in the weightroom. I think it's really gonna bring the whole athletic program at GCHS closer together. Thanks to Coach Fraley this year. What you have started here will hopefully tear down some barriers that have been up for far to long.

I notice last year that Coach Copley worked with Terry Waugh alot on speed drills. I didn't realize how many little things that can help you on your 40's, shuttle drill, vertical and bag drills. It was surprising how well Terry did at EKU Senior Day Camp. I'm pretty sure Coach Copley had only 2weeks to really prepare Terry for the Camp.
Coach Copley has been working all of the off-season with the boys to improve their speed for these camps.
I heard several of our boys did well at UK over the weekend. Dont know much more than that so if anyone has any details I would love to hear them.
Sorry to change the subject a little, but I drove by the field this past weekend and noticed that all the sod was up and lots of plowing going on. I thought that the field had a new surface installed last year? Did something happen to it? If so, what is the plans for this year? Just curious?

Although the field was recrowned last year, the sprinkler system was only repaired, not replaced. The spotty sprinkler work played havac with the grass. The field will be recrowned and replanted.

New sprinklers are in and the bermuda should be coming soon.
Sounds great. Hopefully it will have enough time to grow, but being bermuda it should.
New fieldhouse will be started June 10th.
I am very excited about the upcoming season. I really think the team will start to reap the rewards of all their hard work and dedication. It has been many years since Greenup has seen such a dedicated Football team. Copley is doing an excellent job with these young men and I expect to see packed stands at the Greenhouse this year.

GC Future Champions Camp starts today and runs through Friday. 5:30-8:30 all ages and schools are welcome. Each player will receive a shirt and medalion. There will also be many chances to win prizes on friday. @GCHS....$50.
A special thanks to the GC Boosters for helping out with the boys going to college camps the past month or so. It is really going to pay off on getting them in get alot of looks for scholarships.
The Junior Football Camp was a great success. Looks like Greenup has alot of talent coming down the pike!
Drove by the field and the bermuda is coming up and looking good. A bunch of construction workers looks like they are getting ready to start the field house. Football season is almost upon us and the start of a new season begins with high hopes and expectations, finally we can begin to turn our program around and earn some respect.

Isn't that illegal by KHSAA standards?

The only thing the Boosters can't help with is the acctual camp entry fee. They can help with transportation costs, lodging. Etc.
Tell them how it is Coupon!!!lol
I think Ashland is in for a little suprise to start the season.
I'll give you GC +10
Lol...Coupon=Pete Rose
Passed by the GCHS field today, really looking good!
Greenest place in the county.
I predict Greenup beating Russell,Boyd, and Raceland this year but the Ashland game still may be a challange IMO.
First day of official practice was yesterday and the boys looked good. Numbers are way down though, of the approximate 35 players who showed up, 20 are seniors. I predict Greenup will have a great year but worry about down the road.
Roughly 35 showed up and 20 are seniors?!?!?! And I know that their Junior class has a few too. So I'd say that there is barely any Sophomores or Freshmen that was there. Not good for the future.
I heard some of the Fresh and Soph had some issues with Copley last year. :eyeroll:
Coach Copley had a lot on his plate last year, being his first at GC. There wasn't enough freshman to to fill a team and a lot of the JV games were cancelled. I hope that anyone who was annoyed last year, would give him a chance this year. I think things will be a lot different. I think we will win a few more games this year too and that alone makes for a better atmosphere, not to mention he has got his feet wet here at GC and he is doing a great job.
Is the Honeymoon over? I've heard a lot of parents are upset with the coach and some seniors are not even going to start.
