The Contrarian Wrote:I would like to see the opinions of some of SC's opponents for 2010, as to what they think Sheldon Clark's strengths and weakness are? How will they do in the District Playoffs?
Since this is the 2010 SC thread, I think it would be a good topic going forward.
Strengths: Quite a few returnees with a lot of experience, speed in the backfield, and a good, solid line.
Weaknesses: Depth may be aproblem, but maybe not.
This is only one opinion, and most of us know that everyone has an opinion, but that keeps things interesting.

Id love for JC and SC to switch places, those first few games, against Boyle and Bell Co. well, they'd put a beating on SC. So before you try to make smart comments to me, research what you're talking about a little bit.
And? We didn't schedule Boyle or Bell. We played JC and beat JC. Thats final. You can say this and that but it still doesn't change the fact we beat JC.

I never disputed the fact they didn't and could not beat JC again. That was a pointless statement by you.

And it wasn't a pointless statement saying you would like for SC and JC to switch places??? Because SC is a 3a school and JC is a 5a school, so therefore games such as Bell and Boyle wouldn't match up against SC

Well if you had read before my statement, you would see I was only retorting to the person who had a smart comment to make about SC being able to run wild in 4 and 5A.

Sheldon Clark will do well in 3A this year: Speed, experience, desire, and a veteran coach.
Now a comment on the Johnson Central (5A) and Sheldon Clark (3A) discussion:
Fact, JC is 5A, SC is 3A; Therefore we will never know what would've happened if SC was in the 5A class. If, however, they were, they would have to be a 5A school, with the number of students to qualify for the 5A class, and that would definitely provide SC with a much deeper selection of players.
So, IMHO, it is a moot point!
Before I close, I would like to express my opinion on another matter: Is it not great that we can express our desperate opinions in this great country in which we live? God Bless America! And may we always be free!

Well we will see you on the 27th and there won't be any GAME WINNING TD "equiptment violation" call this year.Welcome to the Riverbank.

I hope you're right, for it's not good for either team when there is a questionable call. Breathitt usually has a strong team, so it should be a good game.
Thanks for the "Welcome to the Riverbank." Sheldon Clark fans will good sports, win or loose!
PS: To set the record straight, I am not from Martin County.

I'm not from Martin County, either! But I am a big fan of Sheldon Clark; let's say that I have a tremendous interest in their success in football.
I may not be as confident as A Ray (a shutout) but I am confident that SC will come to play and losing is not in the plan. But that can happen to any team on a given night. And that's an evident fact.
The above makes me think of last seasons play-offs, for both Belfry and Pike Central had beaten SC badly in regular season games, but SC beat both in the play-offs. Thus that's why we play the games. They are won and lost on the field.

I doubt that(about them being good sports)They were the rudest fans I have ever seen EVER.They harassed Channing all night with very rude comments not to mention all the other things. They was HONESTLY the worst.

I didn't know that Sheldon Clark had the option of choosing "their own refs."

Yes, they have an opportunity to do so. But, obviously it's not a done deal. As we all know, anything can happen on a given Friday night. Again, yes SC can, but we will only know when the game is over.

Gee, I am sorry you got that impression of the SC fans. Sure they were enthusiastic and loud, for they were facing a team that they weren't supposed to have a chance against, according to pre season polls. (Again, do not pay a whole lot of attention to the pundits, for often times they are abjectly wrong.)
I did not hear any derogatory remarks regarding Channing; the only thing I heard was that SC held him to six (6) yards rushing, and that he looked tired and out of shape. Later, however, I heard that he had asthma and it was bothering him that evening.
Obviously I was not omnipresent at the game, but I am speaking about the fans that were seated close to me and my friends. I heard or saw no disrespect.
I am looking forward to a good, hard fought game this year, and may the better team win!

This should be a great game, and I am looking forward to it. The game will be won or lost on the field, not on The BGR! But I guess it's fun to prognosticate just a little.

I really wish i was able to come watch a SC this year but i'm stuck in the sand box again. although i was lucky enough to watch 2 games last year and with the players they have coming back i believe they have a good chance of even doing better than last year.

You want revenge then have at it. But i promise we won't take the comment of our fans being rude lightly. Put Belfry on hold! Im gonna make a highlight reel out of YOUR DEFENSE!!!!

A_Ray #5 :], I like your confidence! But remember, the game will be won on the field. I've heard that you guys have worked extremely hard in the off-season, so let's see all the hard work pay-off when the rubber meets the road--Collins and then Breathitt. Good luck, Cards!
Just a note: I am sure you know what luck is, for it's where hard work and preparation meets opportunity.

Yes the game is always won on the field. This junk means nothing. But talking about a teams fans is a whole new level. It'll be a privilege to play as a senior this year for SC. So I don't take the nonsense of our fans disrespectful. If BOBCAT wants disrespect he can have it!
We have worked super hard.. I started lifting the Monday after wrestling. And everyone has lifted consistently since winter. The 11 MEN we are putting on the field this year, i trust my life with. Most of them we have played with since our youth league days.

I was there and they was very rude. These are highschool kids and most of the rudeness was coming from adults.Where is Fugate now?At Tennessee on a full ride.A good ;quality; FREE education whether he gains 1 yard.He is a smart and well mannered young man who was belittled by a bunch of jealous adults.

Maybe there were a few irrationally exuberant fans at the game last year, but by and large, you will not find any nicer, down to earth people than the people from Eastern Kentucky.
I am not from the area, but I consider myself a fair judge of people, and the people from Martin County are extremely friendly, and very nice to "outsiders." But I don't know how nice they would be if they were shown disrespect and put down.
I didn't hear anything disrespectful or derogatory said to, or about Channing. I am sure he is a fine young man, and as a Sheldon Clark fan, I wish him the very best in the future and hope he excels at the University of Tennessee.
So, why don't we forget about last years' game and look forward to a good, well played 2010 contest. I am sure that both teams will be ready.
