Campbell County Coach Troy Styer steps down
#1
Coach Styer officially stepped down as head coach of the Camels. He stepped in five years ago when the Camels were left high and dry 2 weeks before the start of school and had no coach. No candidates were available that could leave their posts, and Coach Styer filled in that gap. The former All-State player for the Camels, which I played with, graduated in 1982 from Campbell County, and went on to be an All-American at the University of Dayton.

All of Camel Alums wish coach future success and are happy for him to now spend time watching his daughters excel at Campbell County athletics.

He was gone before the season even ended. Didn't even show up for the GRC game.

I'd like the Camels to become good. I think bball is going to get better with the recent upgrade at coach. Hopefully the football squad can do the same. Track is doing excellent. No reason the Camel football program can't improve in the coming years with the players rising up from the youth league.

I agree. And thanks to Ft. Thomas Junior League for helping on how to run the league. My son had the fortune to start his football career in the FT league, and I was always forever grateful. The Campbell Co. league will certainly pay dividends

Best of luck Coach Styer.
Campbell Co can be one of the up and coming programs in NKY with their new sports complex that is going to be built. Should get some good canidates for the job

^ I would expect there will be plenty of candidates. Hearing some decent rumors now (sorry, can't divulge)

Credit to Troy and his staff for making the Camels competitive. Only problem is with their district and the continued growth of the Boone County schools, competition for the NK top-spot in 6 A is fierce. I think Troy was looking over his shoulder the past few years with the administrations recent history of changing coaches in all sports. With this in mind, I think he took on too much and possibly over managed. The offense could never get away from that pass happy attack and provide a power running game that is needed to be competitive in the district. Good luck to Troy and trhe Camels in the future, but whoever they bring in, its tuff hoeing in Alexandria.
