Mayfield 28-12

Mayfield by at least 5 touchdowns.

Hazard played there worst game of the season last night and still managed the win and i think they will not play that poorly at state. I predict a Hazard 29 and Mayfield 27.
#8
Mayfield by 14

I see Mayfield with an easy win. Mayfield has more team speed than Hazard can handle. If Hazard doesnt have every defensive back with above average speed Mayfield will abuse them.
#10
Don't know much about Mayfield??
But I would love to see Hazard get the title.
#11
Mayfield 28
Hazard 21

Close one here boys

You hear alot about Mayfield's excellent passing attack but Mayfield's running game is brutal. Hazard's offense also grabs headlines and for good reason. Mayfield's defense gets no attention at all and it has been 1A's best all year so I am hopeful that will play into the Cards favor. If you buy into schedules, Mayfield's appears to be a little stronger but I dont or we would have been eliminated last night. I think Mayfield may hold a advantage in the speed department
#15
Mayfield doesn't have as much of a advantage with speed as many may think. Hazard has some real speedsters and some real athletic kids.

Hazard has two of the more underrated players in the state in Jon Combs & Jordan Olinger.

I do think that Mayfield wins, but I expect it to be a great game and possibly a track meet.

Add Mayfield's Luke Guhy to that lists.

For you Easterners, what are the Hazard strengths. I am sure you all are equally curious about Mayfield.

Mayfield runs and passes about 50%, their quarter back is the star who makes their machine go and he is a dandy. Mayfield likes to throw to about 5 different guys but they also like to let their brusing run game pound the ball and will do alot of both. Mayfield's best kept secret is its defense that has been outstanding all year.

Don't know much about either team. From what I have read, Mayfield has the edge. Being from West Virginia I should be pulling for Hazard but living in Western Kentucky,, my wife said i have to pull for the west.

I really don't know that much about Mayfield.
It should be a great game to watch. I am going to say that this game will be a toss up.
Let go Dawgs

Gotta go with them dawgs !!! Go hazard !!!

I'm pretty confident in Mayfield. Hazard barely beat a LCA team that got blown out by a down Lex Cath team that Mayfield could have beaten handily. Doing the math, I'll say:

Mayfield 54
Hazard 13

LCA was missing 13 players due to suspensions and injuries

Was not aware of this. Still, who has Hazard played that is considered to be a good team?

I just have my doubts that Hazard is better than Beechwood, but I've been wrong before.

They've beaten Corbin,Clay Co., Breathitt- who were decent teams. But Mayfield really has only played one really good team, PT, well from what i see from khsaa. Looks like they've handled their opponents fairly easily

Go Hazard

Congrats Hazard on making it back to State, make the best of it and bring that gold back to the Mountains!

They handled Beechwood by the same point margin that Highlands did, and by a higher point margin than Covington Catholic and Dixie Heights. Not to mention that Graves County is a pretty solid team.

I wasn't aware of how good those teams that you mentioned were, so I'll cut the margin down significantly here, but still with a Mayfield lead.

Mayfield-42
Hazard-27

Hazard runs the spread offense. They're also 50/50 (run/pass). They have over 3000 yards passing & rushing this season, but I don't think their defense will keep Mayfield out of the end zone. The have played 4 quality opponents this season (Corbin, Breathitt Co, Clay Co, LCA) and outscored them 147-98. So their defense will give up some points, but their offense has been more than a handful for each of their opponents. Biggest thing that stands out from looking at their stats is that Combs has throw for 48 touchdowns while only throwing 5 interceptions. That's incredible!

Again, I do think that Mayfield wins.

Dawgs are sniffin that trail to the trophy. Gonna take the Dawgs to bring one back to the mountains!

Mayfield will have to be a special football team to beat Hazard IMO!

HAIL PIKEVILLE! Wrote:Mayfield will have to be a special football team to beat Hazard IMO!

Mayfield fans for a Pikeville fan to say that it means a lot. Pikeville has been a rival of hazard for years and as of late its been all hazard but pikeville has really owned hazard at football.
