Any thoughts about rhis years team

Well, if I'm not mistaken, you get to come to Russell County this year. So, I'm hoping that's a loss for the Cards to a team from a lower class.

But honestly, I think South is on the right track and hopefully can pull a bit more attention from the administration to continue to get the program where it could be. There's a lot of athletes in the district and they deserve a strong program.

Do you have their schedule?

Good luck south laurel in 20012

Same as last year just flip the home and away games and the first game is knox central in stead of lynn camp

4-6 at best.

i think they should be a little better than that 7-3

Looking at last years schedule I can't find 7 wins. Dropping LC for the Panthers is most likely trading a W for an L in 2012. And since that's the first game of the season, Russell Co will be using the Cards as a measuring stick between themselves and Knox Central. That one could be ugly.

In all honesty a 5-5 season would likely be a good season.

if you look at the games south lost last year which was 5 they should have won 3 of them clay county, lincoln county and corbin maybe but at worst they should have been 7-3 or 8-2 at best and they were still a pretty young team now those boys have a year under their belt they shouldnt let those games get away from them and yes the knox central and russell county will be really hard games but they should be fun games to watch with the offence these teams have

Both these games should be entertaining from an offensive standpoint. We could easily see 80-100 combined points on the board.

just hope south can come out on top

Same old South.. No defense and will finish 3-7 at best.

Ok name me seven teams that are going to beat them

More than likely losses are Knox Central at Lynn Camp in Pioneer Bowl and Russell Co. away. Wins are Lynn Camp in Cumberland Valley Bowl, Clay Co. Home, North Laurel Home, Madison Southern Home. Then 4 games that I think are toss-ups, Corbin Away, Pulaski Co. Away, Southwestern Home, and Lincoln Co. away. Most years those last 4 would be losses but Pulaski still down , Southwestern replacing about a whole team, Corbin is just not the old Corbin anymore, and Lincoln Co away is always tough.
The question mark with South as always will be defense. This South team will be fast, if they can tackle. If not then they will be in alot of 55-48 games again this season. Hard to win 6-7 games without defense, but, the offense should be entertaining.

I think Welch has ended up being a diamond in the rough and will do a good job there.

I think South will pretty solid next year. They have 7 returning starters on offensive including Jason Mitchell moving back. The question mark is if the defense can improve to help that offense. I predict a 6-4 or 7-3 year.

Is he the one who went to Knox Cent last year?

The defense would be better if they would cut down on turnovers on the offensive side of the ball.
#18
Theres no difference in going 3-7 or 7-3 if you dont make the playoffs.
South will more than likely only win 1-2 district games this year which is whee it counts.
I can see them setting at home come playoff time.

That's almost the funniest thing I have ever heard yes the offence turned the ball over but when you score almost 40 points a game and you still lose I don't hink it is the offences fault

How do figure that they only lost 2 district games last year and southwestern lost a ton of players and the lincoln county game was a game that they should have never lost and south is going to be alot better on both sides of rhe ball this year they will be district chams this year set back and enjoy the show

Because of one main reason....your coach.

South will go 6-4 at best this year but more than likely 4-6 and if they do make the playoffs they will lose to a Harlan County or Whitley County in the first round.

South will at least get 1st or 2nd in their district. They have many kids returning to this team. They have most of the offense of players coming back. Plus, those athletes will play on defense as well.

Good luck to South Laurel in 2012!
