Sheldon Clark RB - Tim Smith ruled eligible.
#31
Smith only has played 3 years of high school football, He isnt a 5 th year senior who is getting a 5th year of football as well.

He wasnt ruled eligible at Pike Central, because the waiver for the 5th year wasnt submitted untill he had moved to Martin County.

Pike County did not renew his parents teacher contracts, and Martin County had open teaching jobs in their certification.

Regaurdless of how many years he has played, he's still being granted a second senior year of football. It makes no sense at all that the KHSAA granted this.

Ok so now any school that has seniors who have only played 2 or 3 years can bring them back the next year? This is a joke. There are schools with kids who have it just as worse but they don't get to come back for another year. I thought the rule stated that you could not play athletics in the same grade twice. Is that not what it is?

Sounds like the movie "Wildcats" to me.

My personal opinion, it validates the point that the KHSAA needs to be dismantled. They bend rules, depending on who you are. I can't wait until some of these schools it get together and file them a good ole class action lawsuit.

If you guys would just read the KHSAA handbook maybe this situation would become a little more clear. This kid was out of school due to illness his junior year, and he simply request a waiver of the 4 year clock rule per KHSAA bylaw. There was no magic or rule changes by the KHSAA. These are the rules by the governing body of high school athletics and Tim Smith is not the only kid to be granted this waiver. It happens every year. If the evidence that was submitted by his parents wasn't supportive of his situation the he would not have received the waiver, but anyone who knows this kid, knows this was the right thing.

Comparing Tim Smith to the best backs you have seen how would he rate? Just curious of opinions. Good luck to Tim and Zach Norman who is also eligible and will have a big impact at Sheldon Clark.

Foxtrot, I would say Tim is probably the 5th or 6th best back in eastern KY. He does have freakish speed. But in no way is he even close to being compared To Jude or Davenport.

I agree, I also think Tim and Zack will impact SC this season.

In regard to Tim being the fifth or sixth best running back in Eastern KY, that may be correct, also. And what's great for Sheldon Clark, he is in addition in the SC backfield to another running back that has to fit in the category mentioned in the last sentence, and that is KP Skyles.

If what we saw yesterday from Skyles and Tyler O'Connor, and add Tim to the equation, the SC fans are in for some excitement in the 2011 football season.

This is so good to hear. I coached Tim his sophmore year at Louisville Iroquois HS. He was a great kid that came up in a bad situation. I wish him the best of luck and hope to see him on saturdays somewere.
