just curious, but could someone please relay the official number of penalties in the Perry/P-burg matchup? Was over there for the game and was debating on whether it measured up to the most in KHSAA history.

It wasn't record-setting bad.
PCC 115 penalty yards, PBurg 65 penalty yards
I know the first half took forever but there was a couple of players that were down for a long time on injuries.

If Jude is as good as most people on here say..
I don't think PCC has much of a chance in this one..
There is also a lot of people that think Matt Robinson is that good..
So who knows, could be closer than most think..
Final Prediction:
JC - 34
PCC - 20

Jude is pretty tough, but everyone knows he is going to get the ball. If they can key on him and actually tackle someone this week, Perry has a good shot at coming out on top. The QB and receivers are going to have to get it together though, last week may have been first game jitters or whatever, but they need to get that out of their system and start scoring like they are capable of. Perry in a squeaker 32-30, Jude will have over 400yds rushing.

jude has 100 yds rushing..jc's line cant block all the backers for pcc wtih the robinson's and cody hollon, everyone will see how one dimensional jc is and perrys offense gets everything clicking and lights up the defense..i got perry winning 42-24

Well, it looks like the Commodores will get to travel to Paintsville and experience the JJ Jude phenomenon!! It's a good thing that Perry Central was able to pull out a win against Prestonsburg because, they won't be winning this one! The Golden Eagles should win this one without much trouble IMO.
Johnson Central - 42

PCC will score some points. JC's DBs are young and inexperienced, for the most part. PCC would do well to stick to the aerial attack. The line would be the heart of JC's defense. Expect that JC will try to put pressure on Huff all game long on defense to force bad decisions. Saw plenty of fumbled snaps and poor ball-handling in that game on PCC's part as well, which could lead to trouble if that's not shored up by Friday night.
Watching PCC against Prestonsburg, however, I also think JC's offense will have plenty of success also. You can key on Jude, but when it comes down to it, most teams do that, and it hasn't worked very often in the past. If a P-burg team missing its main cog for over a half of football could put up 34 points on the road against PCC...

I'm interested to see how Jude does in this one.
Call me crazy, but I don't think it's a bad matchup for the Commodores.
Jude is fast, but Perry has plenty of speed on the sides and they have a great linebacking core.
But all I know about Johnson Central is JJ Jude.
How's their passing game?

We don't pass the ball very much... We line up across from you and smash you right in the mouth. For the most part there isn't anything that anyone can do about it. This is the same ole same ole every year. To hear most we are rebuilding every year either in the backfield or the line. JC is to the point now where we really don't rebuild we reload. OUr feeder systems are great and the numbers we get out are great. Every year people say something about having to replace this person or that person and every year it comes down to us and Highlands for a State Championship, with Highlands getting the win in a hard fought close game. Its pretty much that simple, however, every year it seems as though we are slowly closing that gap.

Breaking in a brand new sophomore QB. His arm looks serviceable in the throws I've seen him make, but his job primarily is to handle the football, make the right reads on the belly, and run when needed. If all goes like we hope it will, nobody'll have to find out how our passing game is, although I expect it'll show up more and more as the season goes on and he gets more comfortable at the controls.

Good luck

Perry Central was awful against smashmouth teams last year but they look like they are ready to play some defense this year.

Can you compare this year's team to the 2008 team.

I agree with the bolded, JC has great middle school teams year in and year out. I think Jude will get his yardage in this game, he is just as good as advertised. I also think Perry is going to put up some points too, Huff has a great arm and some really quick WR's, it should be a decently high scoring affair. Jude will have 300+ rushing and Huff will have 300+ passing. If Perry can catch a few breaks and force a few turnovers, I can see us winning. But JC is a very well coached and very talented football team and I think that they will end up pulling this one out (hurts me to say that). I hope I am wrong here, and I also hope for a good, clean, injury-free game for both sides.

In the first half our defense was great. But in the second P-Burg scored on nearly every possession. Through the ground or air, they was consistently getting a good chunk of yards. I'm not ready to say that Perry is ready to handle smashmouth teams just yet. It's going to be interesting to see how many points we hold JC to.

Perry wins this one by 2 tds, Jude won't know what hit him when Matt Robinson gets ahold of him!!

well if perry does win, which i hope they do & i believe they will. i just hope jc fans have the guts and the decency to not make excuses an cry about it an blame it on the refs like p burg an their fans did . if jc wins though, which their is a really good chance that they will then it wouldn't surprise me. but anything is possible, its not like pcc is preparing to play the green bay packers or something. i remember we was 30+ underdogs against channing fugate and Breathitt county and all the talk about that game was just like this one he was predicted to put up 500+ rushing yards on us that night, an coach told us one evening no body believes we could win but we did, an a small part of the pcc faithful. & that friday by god we got on that bus....we took our a**'s down to jackon beside that river bank & we whooped the ever living piss out that bunch. so no team is impossible to beat i dont care how good their running back is. Its all about who wants to win more.

By talking to some Prestonsburg folks who are truthful and honest I am hearing a couple of things. First is that PCC has the potential to have an explosive offense but that it hasn't seemed to put it all together yet. Second is that their defense was pretty weak at least for week 0. Now that may change this week cause no one can be sure. They are telling me that JJ, Zach, Jimmy, and JD should run wild on PCC but once again who knows.
I cheer on JC as hard as anyone but I try to be honest and post intelligent things as well. With that said i feel like after watching some film and talking to football people that JC will take this game by 2-3 TDs. However, I am not taking PCC lightly as they could come to the nest and leave with a W if they execute and we don't.
Hope it is a great game and everyone stays healthy.

ya know thats a good point. but still i was just saying what if they lose, i wonder how they would react? a school like Perry Central who has never won anything beating a school like Johnson Central who has one of the best running backs in the state? Of course no one will think Perry can win, i love being the underdogs. & Johnson Central is no highlands, and JJ Jude is no Channing fugate yeah their good but i say if the dores can beat Breathitt in Jackson who played for a state championship the year before. Then they can beat Johnson Central. makes no difference. all they need is a good game. no body wants to believe though.
