Go start working for next year. Highlands is the next game on the Boyle schedule.

Again, just admit it. It's different for those who have a son on the field. Either your are mature and old enough to recognize that or you are too young and currently oblivious of how that changes the matter.

It's about timing Wideleft. Your timing was poor and someone on this board called you on it because it was a little more than "just sports." It was a young man's pain and a father's. It doesn't make you a bad individual. Just inconsiderate.

As for me, your banterings don't bother me. I don't have a child playing at Boyle. But I've have a child playing sports and know what 64 is going through.

Have a good day.

Everyone doesn't have to be a Boyle fan. That's fine. Just don't act like a douchebag about things and then expect everyone to roll with your punches either. Come on man. Act like you know. :ChairHit:

Just like I feared, Boyle's complete lack of a passing game killed them in this game. Boyle better figure out how to throw the ball before next year if they want to honestly compete for a state championship again.

Boyle's passing game wasn't the problem Casey was 9-15 for 102 yds 1 TD,Bolin was 13-25 160 yds 1 TD,and 1 INT.For a team that relies on the run as heavily as Boyle does Whittle threw the ball quite well,IMO Boyle didn't throw the ball enough this was obvious on thier last drive.I would blame coach Mason for being to conservetive the whole game,if i was going to give an excuse for why we lost.

It was Boyle's lack of a rushing attack that hurt. Not the passing game. How many fumbles did we lose also? 2? 3?

You obviously weren't at the game, and if you were you weren't watching it. If not for passing Boyle would not have scored. Almost that entire touchdown drive came via the pass, especially a huge 20 yard completion on a 3rd and long. I understand that Boyle wanted to keep the clock running to keep Bolin off the field, and we've always been a run first team, but the passing game was on, and I think we should have thrown more than 15 times. In my opinion Boyle's passing game (9-15, 102 yds, 1TD, 0 int's) looked better than LexCath's (13-25, 160 yds, 1TD, 1 int) Friday night, Boyle just would not use it.

2 very sound programs. This epic battle will switch hands from 1 year to the next. This just happens to be Cath's year.

2 fumbles lost, one of which turned into 3 points for LexCath

Just because Boyle lost to a very good Lex Cath, no need to 2nd guess the coaching. Boyle is as well coached as anyone in the state.

There is no doubt that Boyle has one of the best coaching staffs in the entire state. But that doesn't mean they don't make mistakes sometimes. And I'll admit, it is much easier to blame it on the play-calling when you're sitting from the stands where we don't know everything going on.

To all the people who want to blame Boyle's lack of a state title this year on an inability to throw the ball, let's look at some stats:

In 2009 Boyle went 15-0, winning a title. They averaged passing for 115.2 yards/game
In 2010 Boyle went 15-0, winning a title. They averaged passing for 118.6 yards/game
In 2011 Boyle(on a much tougher schedule) went 9-4. They averaged passing for 123.5 yards/game

I know stats don't always tell the whole story, but they make a pretty good point here IMO. Boyle has never been a passing team; they are always a run-first team. This BC team didn't win a state title this year because of a lot of factors. It was a down year, and every program has those. Better believe they'll be ready to fight for another title next season.

I'm second guessing the quarterback's accuracy more than anything. He completed an ok % but isn't a threat to throw anythingmuch more than a screen. The running game didn't work because they could stack the box.

They've only really been a running team since French got here. Teams of the past were more balanced. Unless they have really good line play, they need to be more balanced.

You don't know what you're talking about. Watch the guy in pregame and tell me he can't throw down field. He flicks it 50 yards effortlessly in warm ups. He made a great throw on 3rd and long Friday for 20 yards. The Boyle offense isn't built to throw the ball down field. When they did try to throw one down field Friday, he made a decent throw, and gave the reciever a chance, even though it was slightly too inside for him to catch. I'm sorry he isn't Brandon Smith or Jeff Duggins. And I'm sorry Boyle doesn't have Jacob Tamme to recieve the ball either. He is an about average high school qb in a run-first offense. It is extremely tough to get in a rythm when you only throw 15 times a game. But he made the throws he was supposed to and gave them a chance to win. Ut isn't his fault that the coach wouldn't throw the ball more. The running game didn't work because they did stack the box and we kept trying to run it at them; it was not because we couldn't throw the football.

If I am not mistaken the drive that we had when we scored our only td came when Casey was primarily throwing the ball. That drive seemed to be the only drive we had when we threw the ball a lot. And don't take that as me second guessing the play calling. It's no secret we are a much better team when we run the ball effectively. We just couldn't do that well enough Friday. When was the last time we couldn't even get 1 yard on 4th and 1 on a running play.? That one play summed up the whole night.....just could never get what we needed on the ground.

Once again, my hat is off to the LexCath defense. We ran all over them for the last 3 years and on Friday they put a stop to it.

Sorry, I meant to say he's an above average high school qb

To the rebels, Thank you for another season of great football. You have made all true rebel fans proud. Lexington Cathoilc, I pray you can take your game to the next level this coming Friday night and keep the central Ky teams alive in the playoffs.

Actually I'm a pretty tough guy. I can take it. My feelings were not hurt one bit. I just grow tired of some people always putting down the school I support for no other reason than we have had some success the last 15 years or so. For the record, I KNOW

Highlands has many more state crowns than Boyle Co.
Highlands has the best football tradition in the state.
Every kid that goes there is doing so because of it's fine academic record.
Highlands is not a private school.
Highlands coaches are as good or better than everybody else's.
Highlands fans are very confident not arrogant (with a couple of exceptions)

Believe me I KNOW ALL OF THIS.

I also know there are many good fans of the bluebirds (gotta do something about the nickname though). However, Wideleft1 must be a miserable human being. With the help of another fine Bluebirds fan I now have "ignored" him. That being said, people can dislike the Rebels or myself all they want. You enjoy that freedom in this great country. Thank you Hatz for defending your old friend but I am fine. Also for the record my "Rebel64" name comes from MY number when I played for the Rebels. My son is also fine and will be getting ready for next season starting today because that is what he expects of himself.

Yea, it doesn't exactly strike fear in your opponent.

I'm surprised Boyle made it as far as they did. Highlands could have beaten them by much more in the opener.

And you are quite a fan to show up this far in the season, huh? :please:

This is about Lex Cath vs. Boyle.

If I recall Highlands may have scored one more time if they wanted to at the end. But I gained some respect for them when they just took the knee instead. From that and what I've heard from the BC players they were a pretty classy team, unlike a couple of their fans on this site.

And who else did you expect to beat them? Highlands and Cov Cath clearly above the rest of 4A field this year, but Lex Cath and Boyle are third and fourth best teams by far in 4A. If HHS and CCH did not move to 4A this year, Boyle and Lex Cath winner would go on to win state.

Highlands did not take care of the ball well in game one. If they would have not fumbled the ball (I think it was more poor execution on HHS part then Boyles D that caused the fumbles), I think they fairly easily score 2 more TD"s (I know ifs and buts), and they could have scored on final drive but showed class and knelt the ball down.

Good season Boyle, looking forward to your visit to our place next year!
