National Geographics "Best Photo's" awards
#9
Did they win anything for the photos?

National Geographic has their own awards, for various types of photo's. Though most of these photo's are from professional photographers, the really neat thing is that many are amateurs. I, as an amateur photographer, can really get into these. I have some really good photo's, but it would be a stretch to say that I have captured anything like these.

Neat stuff. I really like these. I wonder how many thousands of photos they had to sort through to find these? I remember when I was taking sports shots for the high school newspaper that I would take hundreds of live actions shots hoping that one or two of them would be good.

Are these all photos? I believe the croc and wildebeast may be a screen clip from their Planet Earth film.
Either way, they are all awesome!!

Hey Dusty, you need to get some of the photo's from the documentary "Restrepo". Some amazing shots that will really open some American's eyes..

I'm deploying with a guy who was a Specialist during that, in that exact unit and on camera quite a bit. He's my Staff Sgt now. Hell of a dude, and I'm so glad he's got that hell under his belt when it comes to leading us this go-around.

And when Tim Hetherington died in Libya, I cried, lol. Not afraid to admit it...I loved that guy. He was the guy that helped write the book "War" by Sebastian Jungar, and was Sebastian's camera guy during the film Restrepo. It was just those two the whole time.

The book War is based on Restrepo, by the way. My SSG is in the book alot more than the movie. It's a great read.

That's what SOOOO many Afghan kids look like...they have such cool eyes. I swear, they're the best kids in the world for the most part, and I don't know how anyone can be mean to them. I try to kick the ass of whoever I see being mean to them though.

But yeah, I bet she's Afghan, or somewhere close to it. From the North-Eastern part of the country I'd say. I've also seen alot with actual purple eyes too. It;s crazy.

Umm..ok, I look stupid. I clicked on TRV's link and that is an Afghan girl, hahahahaha. But told ya, they have the craziest eyes ever. And the big cities, mainly Kabul, have some hot women that don't wear veils or any of that crap. But they usually get murdered though.

Anyway, nice pics Dusty. Keep em coming.

That pic your referring to actually had a show just about it.
Believe it or not, that pic is really old. When they took it they didnt get her name or anything and went back to Afghanistan to try and find her and after a lot of searching they found her and i think shes now around 40.(I think he as only like 15 in the pic) They used technology to see if the lines in her eyes were the same as the picture as everyone eyes are unique to that person and it turned out to be her. you should look it up.
