The Dawgs had 30 show up for offseason voluntary lifting yesterday.
Hazard will have to go with a young OL/DL next year. They lose 5 starting linemen. Depending on how the young kids develope will determine if Hazard gets another shot at a title. It will be hard to replace the leadership and toughness of Blanton and Combs, but someone usually steps up, The skill players will be back. Jones, Johnson, Olinger, Higgins, Whitaker all return.
2012 schedule, pretty sure Hazard's schedule will flip flop from last year. They hopefully will find a 10th game. Last year they were unable to schedule a 10th game and had two open dates.

Like Pikeville, HAzard will be Hazard. Tough for anyone to deal with. I'm sure they will find people to step up.

Hazard O-line and DL with let them go as far as they want. 3 to 4 skill players can take you along way but the line will have to play good. Hazard should be ok at the line but young. Another name to mention for the line will be Jake Bowling. Hes a big boy bout 61 about 240 or bigger not sure on the weight. I work with his dad and he would of played last year but missed camp this summer and wasnt allowed to play until late season but his dad told him hed have to wait til next year. I also you never know who might transfer in or out so things have a long way to go. Hazard has the players back to compete again at state and possibly repeat.

Coach Dixon and his staff with get our team ready to play by opening game. I have full faith.

Will Hazard have a chance for a repeat in 1A state?

I expect Mayfield to be the favorite given what they return but H returns enough and like this year you never know how things are going to turnout.

Hazard returns quite a few playmakers but got to have a line to get them the ball and let them do there stuff. Hazard defense will have to get better over the season next year as i expect them to a give up some points instead of like this years defense that only allowed 2 tds a game.

I'm sure Hazard will find a way to once again be toward the top in 1A. I don't know much about what they have coming back, but being young is always a good thing since you'll have pretty much the same crew around for a couple of years. Hope to see Hazard do well. This years group is a great example as to why anything can happen on the field and will set the tone next year for this young and talented group.

Most of the time those 2 average touchdowns were given up by the group that will be starters next year! Hazard does return much of its secondary and some linebackers with experience. They should be good to go by the end of regular season.

I won't be surpise to see them in the Finals next season. What a win for them in this years finals. I must admit they really surpised with the win.

They'll still be one helluva squad

I was aiming to ask some questions for next year.
Any Chance the Willie Oden kid whos a lineman comes back out and plays?
What Happened to the Nathan Stupart Kid and Zack Napier kid. I know they played quite a bit in 2010 but never seen them last year. Someone please fill me in..

Don't know if Willie is playing or not. Hasn't been to any volunteer lifting yet. We'll know shortly when school starts back the second semester and he lifts or not.
Nathan Stupart has been to volunteer lifting, but he may just be getting ready for baseball. Hopefully, he plays. Could really help us at OLB.
Zack Napier, to my knowledge, no longer attends HHS.
Hope this helps.

Thanks BlueGold1. Maybe the Oden kid will be back out. The Stupart kid will help out Tremendously if he plays next year on the defensive side of the ball. The Oden kid will as well as he will probably play a little defensive tackle and on the O-line. Well Good Luck to the Zack Napier kid wherever he is.

I agree Hazard will be tough, I also beleive Williamsburg and Harlan will be very much improved. Williamsburg, returns I beleive Dalton Sizemore, the all state Patrick Kid, Griffin the receiver and that receiver you don't hear much about I saw him aganst Harlan, and the play off game with Hazard His number was 23 he was real thin he caught every thing Sizemore threw, I think his name Cody Shelton. Harlan has every thing back and a good Quarterback to go with them. I do beleive the mountains will retain the classA title I like all three teams. and Pikeville

Football season is nearing and cant wait to see what the reigning champs of Class A look like to start the season. Should be a very good opening season game against Clintwood VA.

i look for hazards district to be tougher this year than last but I still think they can have a good year.

Our linemen just got home from the down and dirty linemen camp at EKU, all were pretty impressive and came back better players, the talent is there were just lacking experience. I think Tim Pittard will probably be our anchor on the line.

My grandson from Lex Cath attended the down and dirty camp and was assigned to the Hazard group. He was taken in and treated like part of the team. He really enjoyed the friendship displayed by Hazard. Good bunch of boys and very competative.

He is a great kid and a heck of a football player, we enjoyed having him with us.

A few kids from Somerset went to the EKU D&D camp last week and said that the Hazard kids will be young but tough. Look forward to seeing them at the Briar Patch week 3.
