Where is your school going for Baseball in the Spring 2012?

Harlan County will be returning to Myrtle Beach to
The Cal Ripken Experience.
#3
Alexandria for 4 weeks of fun in the land that God has blessed....

Rockcastle will be going to the Cocoa Expo in Cocoa Beach, FL either the second or the fourth week of March from what I understand. Rockcastle has no definite spring break is the reason for not knowing which.

OTH... Pike County Schools saw fit to "remove" a spring break from the school calendar, with the exception of 2 days off for Hillbilly Days. IF those young men go anywhere for spring break, they will have to get a "educational enhancement" form filled out and make up any and all work they missed. This is crazy!

I agree. My boy's senior year and during Spring Break we go to Shelby Valley.

^ I feel your pain OTH, honestly. I just went though it last year myself. My son is playing college baseball, but it's not the same.

^Hopefully mine will be playing next season as well. I will still be at the Ville though.

And 3 years from now when he is in his senior season, it still wont be the same. Having gone through this twice, I am now all for the kids just enjoying their high school careers and have all the fun they can have out of it. In my opinion, all the drama and the gut wrenching of the roller coaster ride during the recruitment process takes too much fun out of their last two seasons because again IMO, the actual college experience falls really short of this great anticipation of what you think it will be.

^ I fortunately had coached kids through their processes of college choices and followed them in school. I was already prepared for the disappointment. Even watching college Fall Ball, it was disappointing to watch in comparison to the 13 years prior

May I suggest this book to any father who has a son playing his Senior year of the game. It will quite simply tear your gutts out and leave them laying on the plate. Every word is virtually in your memory banks. It is written by Dan Shaughnessy, a sports writer for the Boston Globe. He also wrote "The Curse of the Bambino", Reversing the Curse" and "Fenway". I think that every Coach,Father and Son should read this book. I cannot bring myself to read the final chapter until May/June. If ya dont love this game and your kid, then forget it.Haughton Miffin Co. Boston/New York.
