Obama To Spend 2 Billion On Offshore Drilling....
#1
in Brazil....that's right Brazil, not in the U.S. Forget the fact that our own country doesn't have a pot to pee in. What do we do, we borrow billions from China and then lend it to Brazil. :HitWall:

"The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil's Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil's planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.
The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a "preliminary commitment" letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas.
But look on the bright side. If President Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not in the old U.S.A.? The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily indebted has enormous offshore oil deposits, and last year ahead of the November elections, with gasoline at $4 a gallon, Congress let a ban on offshore drilling expire."

"The Bush Administration's five-year plan (2007-2012) to open the outer continental shelf to oil exploration included new lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico. But in 2007 environmentalists went to court to block drilling in Alaska and in April a federal court ruled in their favor. In May, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said his department was unsure whether that ruling applied only to Alaska or all offshore drilling. So it asked an appeals court for clarification. Late last month the court said the earlier decision applied only to Alaska, opening the way for the sale of leases in the Gulf. Mr. Salazar now says the sales will go forward on August 19.
This is progress, however slow. But it still doesn't allow the U.S. to explore in Alaska or along the East and West Coasts, which could be our equivalent of the Tupi oil fields, which are set to make Brazil a leading oil exporter. Americans are right to wonder why Mr. Obama is underwriting in Brazil what he won't allow at home."

Seems very hypocritical from the Democratic delegation if this is indeed true. The constant attack on the Bush administration in opposition of drilling and push for alternative fuel solutions from the left seems to make this proposition a flip-flop on the direction that they espoused in the elections.

And probably like all of our other "loans" to foreign countries, we won't be getting paid back for this one either...:HitWall:

This doesn't surprise me in the least !!!!! I wonder if he is ever gonna do anything good here in America????????????? I doubt it !!!!!!

Brazil....
The place everyone was using as the example for bio fuels made from switch grass. The place everyone held as a shining example.

DRILL HERE DRILL NOW! We need to exploit our on resources, the sooner we can realize this the better off we will be. Energy Independence should be our call.

I can't find a link, but I read in the Lexington Herald the other day that BP just drilled and hit one of the biggest oil wells ever, off the coast of Florida recently.

This is rediculous considering the reserves we have in our own country. This is probably old news to some of you, but I just recently became aware of the fact, yes, FACT, that we have up to 4.3 BILLION barrels of oil in North Dakota and Montana, just waiting....

U. S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World!
Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this motherload of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore drilling?

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

- 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
- 18-times as much oil as Iraq
- 21-times as much oil as Kuwait
- 22-times as much oil as Iran
- 500-times as much oil as Yemen
- and it's all right here in the Western United States .

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people dictate our lives and our economy.....WHY?

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price - even with this find? Think again! It's all about the competitive marketplace, - it has to. Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists?

Food for thought.....

Not only do we have large oil reserves in this county (yet some opposes drilling for it), we also have coal that can be converted to liquid fuel for less than $50 a barrel.

We can be energy independent IF we want to within 5-10 years.

You pretty well sumed it up with that statement, AON.

The state of California was issuing IOU's and making employees take extra unpaid days off this past summer. State leaders tried to pass a bill to allow off-shore drilling that could have raised billions in tax dollars for the state, but it was voted down.

The U.S. could really help it's economic situation if we developed these reserves, think of the jobs that would be created.

Remember when back in 2009, Obama wanted to loan a large Brazilian oil company 2 billion dollars to help finance their off shore drilling operations when he had placed a moratorium on off shore drilling here in the U.S.?

Remember when he told Brazil that we would be their best costumers?

Last month Obama visited Brazil to place a bid on their oil, offering loans and other support to develop the oil in an "environmentally responsible matter,". It appears now that Brazil has signed a contract with Chinia to purchase a large portion of their oil.

The reason i believe we dont drill here is so that when all of these other countries in the future run out of oil and were the only ones left with oil, we'll hold the entire woorld in the palm of our hands.

However, times are tough. Americans are starving and unemployed.
Screw the future, were living right now. Drill that shit.

The reason that we are not drilling our own oil reserves and mining more of our own coal is that Obama, Clinton, and Carter have pandered to the lunatic fringe of the Democratic Party. The environmental wacko wing would oppose drilling if the nation's survival depended on it. What that means is that each time somebody like Obama or Carter gets elected, they have to find additional national resources to place off limits for development. When they can't do so through legislation, they do their damage through executive orders and the EPA.

This is why we're going to Brazil. I'll just leave this here...

lol, not really. Not many beauties in Afghanistan. Germany, yes, but they either absolutely hate us or love us, lol. Luckily, I got one that loved us. It was fun.

My dream is to go to Spain, and then Brazil, and get me and marry a Spanish or Brazilian chick. This is why I bought some more Rosetta Stone, to learn Spanish, haha. Going to try Portuguese after that.

I don't think that the numbers listed above are accurate, which is often the case of info contained in chain emails.

According to the CIA, the US ranks No. 13 in proven oil reserves among the countries of the world. Canada, which President Obama is pushing away, ranks third. Saudi Arabia ranks first, with more than 262 billion barrels of proven reserves. The US is listed as having less than 21 billion barrels and the 4.3 billion barrels that are cited in the article that you linked are not proven but are "3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil." Even if the 4.3 billion barrels is eventually moved to the "proven" category, the reserves of the US will still be a fraction of those in Saudi Arabia.

Some experts believe that Canada's reserves are grossly understated and that it may have much larger oil reserves than Saudi Arabia. That is great news...for China.

I definitely understand what your saying.
Hard to see what under a vail.

I just had the assumption you had gotten the oppertunity to visit many places.
My cousing was in the Army back in the 90s and got to travel to 7 different countries in two years.
I forgot the fact that our forces have been consumed by this war and all the resources have been expended there over the past 10 years.

Ohh yeah, peace-time Army was a much different animal, they went everywhere. I've been to a few different European countries, Germany, Italy, and some other Middle Eastern country that actually have women who show their faces like Jordan. They are quite devout, but that doesn't keep them from drinking and gettin down wit it. lol.

Definitely want to travel much more though. I love it, I'm addicted to it already.
