Which team has better pitching?

good game between 2 solid teams.7 inning game that was pretty well played by both teams.was very impressed with Clay County in this one.solid pitching, made some plays, and hit better than most thought.Clay County may be down this year but could be the surprise team of the region.

Harlan County is scrimmaging Knox Central saturday is what I was told but a good game between the two. Without the first bad inning it would have been a 5-2 win by HC.

Clay scored 4 off Boggs in the first. Clay then took Smith out after 2 still up 4-0. He then went out with an injury and Clay put a 7th grader hitting in the 3 spot and playing 2nd. Harlan then scored 4 runs late off of Clays 3rd pitcher. I really don't think you could say that if it was not for the first Harlan would have won. Look at what the teams did when their aces were throwing and before they started subbing, although I don't think HC ever did. Clay clearly looked like the better team in this one, both offensively and defensively.

Your right. I was thinking of Clay instead of Harlan for some reason. I'll go back and change it

James Bond who only was able to practice with the team for two days comes in and has two very solid innings against Clay, setting down the 6 batters he faced. The only solid hits I saw from Clay came in the 1st and 2nd innings. After that there wasn't much. What's with the 7th grader, if he's good then that's great for him to get some experience, you still had other bats around him. And I'm pretty sure HC was scoring runs in the 2,3,4 innings. Hc did sub the same time Clay did. I thought all in all Clay looked better. But it is a scrimmage so teams can build off of it.

Without HC scoring 5 runs, it probably would've been 6-0 Clay County.

The score after 2 innings was 4-0 when boggs and smith both left the mound. That was also the last inning that Clay played all of their starters. HC hit 1 ball to the outfield all night and it was a blooper over 2nd. Clay's infield struggled in a couple of the late innings giving up the 5 runs. I realize it was just a scrimmage and does not mean a whole lot, but at least tell it like it really happened. I will give though that HC defense struggled also having several errors on the night.

By the way, I wanted to check my facts first. Clay had a single up the middle and double off the wall on Bond scoring 1 run and this was the bottom of the lineup.

Was the injury to Smith serious?

Minor ankle sprain, would have probably continued playing if not a scrimmage.

I understand what you're saying. I thought Clay looked better overall. I will give props to my BlackBears though, they played better than I thought they would.

Clay looked better at the end of the season last year

The seventh grade mentioned was a solid player on the JV team last season.
