What will work aginst Joker is Cal coaching UK basketball and Charlie Strong coaching UofL football. Cal will win games and get top recurits to keep the fan base going crazy. Strong is getting top players and has UofL looking at a BCS bid. Brooks last few years he had a perfect storm with Gillispie taking the basketball team to the NIT, and Kragthrope was running the football program at UofL into the ground.

They should take the Big East out of the BCS.

Joker knows more x's and o's than some jack weed on an Internet chat site I'll gaurentee you that.
#33
Fball I think in a few years the Big East will lose it's BCS bid that's why I'm hoping we make the move to the Big 12 but as long as Pitino is here he will fight it to the death. And thus I think we will lose Charlie Strong staying in the Big East.

Some is the operative word! Because there are "some" elementary school football coaches that forgot more X's & O's than the Joker will ever know....

Come on FBALL. I dont think thats it at all. I think we where spoiled by going to 4 straight bowl games & now this. The numbers speak for themself. I personally wish Joker the best of luck as a huge UK Football fan, but there needs to be vast improvement from last years team for me to get back on that wagon.
#36
I'm not a UK fan but I'm sure Joker will win 6 games and get you back to a bowl game if that's what it takes to make the fan base happy. They have an outside shot to win 6 games this season. UofL being as good as we will be this season will be a non confrence game UK can't win and when playing in the SEC you need to win all your non confrence games to have a shot at a bowl.

To say someone on Bluegrassrivals has forgotten more about football than Joker is a bit of a crazy dont you think?

If I were Louisville I wouldn't be counting the Kentucky game as a sure win.

Spoiled by going to the music city bowl? Then we have really low standards. Granted it had come a long way but even last year with the injuries and search for leaders on offense they were just a few plays away from bowl eligibility.

I do believe that is it with a lot of people not all.

I think you underestimate Joker. Or overestimate some grade school coaches.

True nothing is a sure thing but I think the spread with be 7-10 points. UofL will still be very young with majority of our team 1st and 2nd year players. UofL will be MUCH improved from last season and got much better as the year went forward.

My wording negated the point i was trying to get across. I was trying to say we felt we where headed in the right direction then fell off a cliff. I understand we lost a lot in Cobb, Locke, & even Hartline. I understand we had injuries, but being the recruiter Joker is best known for i myself just expected better.

I do wish Joker the best of luck as i am a true blue fan. I only want the best for our program & would love to one day see UK Football mentioned with the elite in the SEC. Probably will never happen as i dont ever see us having another Bear Bryant, but it would be nice to be competitive each game at least.

I'm a die hard football fan. That cliff had a name. It was Newton. When he signed he was hailed as the next big thing but he is not. The offense suffered terribly because of it. I thought they got much better when Smith took over.

Another can't miss that has been a bust thus far is Boyd. That's two kids that when recruited everybody loved. They were recruited as the replacements for Cobb and Hartline.

That's just a couple of examples of you never know.

I was really encouraged by the freshmen that played on both sides of the ball last year. I think they will be much improved.

I like him and if given the chance Brooks was believe he will be successful.

I'm sure that there are several UK fans who don't like Joker because he's black, and I felt that way about Tubby as well. But there is not comparison between the two situations.

The thing that made Brooks successful was that he didn't care to say that we didn't have the athletes to compete with Florida or Bama, etc. He'd say that all we can do is hope to get the occasional 3-star prospect and turn him into 5-star quality. Joker just says that "it's not that bad" or "the O-line is our strength" etc. I can deal with loosing, but I can't deal with a coach who is either oblivious to how bad they were as a team or just flat out not calling a pig, a pig.

However, since you mention it, I do have a slight prejudice..............I hate bad football coaches at D1 colleges.

What made Brooks successful was a good run of talented players. I was there when they got beat at home by Ohio University. Yes the Bobcats. Everybody in the state wanted to fire. Brooks. But Barnhart stuck with him.

After that and given some time things turned around. It's hard to judge people in just one or two seasons. But I guess not if you are already looking for reasons to fail.

That's the thing. This isn't the typical 1-2 season. Joker has been the recruiter for several years. So if the talent isn't there who do you blame. He was the coach in waiting for multiple years. So, he's had time to have his ducks in a row. I thought he was the guy for the job, and I agree that loosing the three athletes that we did was huge, but who do you blame when Joker has been the one responsible for this for multiple years.

Compare it to basketball, what kind of athletes did Billy G leave for Cal? What did Cal do, he went and recruited the best athletes. A coach with the right clout can do that. It's not like anyone expected him to go and win 8 or 9 games, but his performance as UK coach based on where the program was when he took over was a serious let down by any reasonable standard. I'd think that if any of us were to have the same track record in the jobs we have, we would fully expect to be fired.

Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee have all offered.

Notre Dame, Ohio State have interest but not offered

They all are medium interest

There is no comparsion between Uk football and baskebtall. When looking at Basketball 1 player can turn the program around that first year is Cal would have just got John Wall or Cousins it would have made a different. It takes a total class of good players to field successful football teams.

I really hope Quick stays home and plays for the Cards, Strong has UofL on the comeup queston is how long will he stay?

Then Quick would have came because of the offense and the fact that Leech had coached Michael Crabtree. Maybe Tim Patterson would not have left.

Hopefully Joker will listen to Towles, he ran a more elaborate offense than Joker will ever be able to. Hope Towles talent is not wasted at UK!

Well I guess he gets credit for Brooks good years then. I guess you missed the Point about two 4 star recruits that couldn't miss according to EVERYBODY being total busts.

I'm not saying he's not responsible but the program has hardly fallen of a cliff. Not nearly to the point of losing a home game to Ohio U.

I can't Joker being hated because of his race...because I would say most of those same people are big fans of Davis, MKG, teague, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Chuck Hayes, Patrick Patterson, I could go on and on...in basketball and football. He has proven, at least so far, that he is not that good of a football coach.

As for Quick, best of luck to him wherever he goes...he is a real talent and will be a great pickup for any school.

This fan base has loved players of color that's true.

Coaches of color on the other hand have not been received nearly as well.
#53
I don't care if he's green, I just don't think he's a quality head coach for an SEC team!

Uk only wishes to get an athlete like quick....who are we kidding they have no chance!
