When Joker Gets Canned....
#1
Who would you rather have

Dana Holgorsen :dontthink

or

Bobby Petrino :1:
#2
Petrino.

I do hope it's soon
#3
No hair or no class. I'll stick with Joker.

^ FBALL, you and I fought the good fight with everyone over BCG, but I can't get in bed with you on this one....Wink

I can't blame Joker for not resigning.

He knows he isn't the man for the job.
He is aware that he can't lead Kentucky into being the team we want them to be.

But the man gets a pretty good paycheck, gets to boss people around, and he's on the sideline watching the best teams in the country ever week.

Can we all pitch in and buy him season tickets...

I tried.
You can't get season tickets on the sidelines....

Kentucky will continue to be just what they are in football until they go out and hire a big time coach, who can put a staff together that can recruit all over the country and not settle for the left overs from Georgia and the places the current staff now takes in.

I personally like Coach Joker Phillips. I think whenever you get a new coach, you should at least give him four years for him to recruit all of his players and get his own system working for the team.

He recruited ALL of these players, he WAS UK's recruiter before taking the head coach job!

Then he should receive credit for being a great recruiter. But keep in mind that he recruited players for Coach Brooks' system. It's difficult to start off as a coach when you're given the system of a previous coach. Let's give Coach Phillips two more seasons to become fully organized.

Wouldn't ask you to. We all have opinions. I like Joker. Think about it. There is a reason Brooks got out and age wasn't it. He rebuilt once and didn't want to do it again.

I think he has some good young players and the glass is half full. We shall see.

Bud Dupree is going to be special on defense.

Smith improved the offense tremendously when he took over for Newton. I think he will keep progressing. I really hope Tolles comes in and is just a really special player and takes over. Either way I see improvent.

Joker was the primary recruiter for Brooks so you have to give him credit for those years if you are going to criticize him now.

I really think you will see a better team this year. How many SEC wins that translates to I don't know. The East is hardly the power division anymore so we shall see.

I believe everyone here know my hate for the big Joke.

With that said, we should already have Petrino here coaching. Its a no brainer.

I could get him a media pass :biglmao:

^ Where you been at 15thRegionSlamaBama? I haven't seen you around in forever it seems like
#19
Yes, Petrino is a no brainer. If you want to hire that you have no brain.
#20
FBALL why would you want to keep the joke? Do you not follow Kentucky Football or something? He's horrible. He can barely beat Western Kentucky, a team that he shouldn't have a problem with. Petrino is a hell of a coach and he'll have a job before next season
#21
I don't see him as a joke. Joker was an big part of Rich Brooks success at UK. Part of that success led to guys leaving early for the NFL and the flop of Newton trying to play QB. I still laugh at the guys that wanted to play him over Hartline.

Apparently a lot of you have forgotten Brooks losing at home to the mighty Ohio University Bobcats. Good Lord imagine if Joker had been the head coach then.

As I've said. I like the young talent I have seen. I think we will be OK.

Petrino is a pure scumbag. You guys think he's going to pull a reverse Pitino and long to come back to the Bluegrass even if it's his former nemesis? That's naive to say the least. He might take the job but he would only be using it. He would be out at the first sign of something bigger.
#22
If you had the chance to make millions would you leave too?

Sometimes a good O-Coord, doesn't make a good coach and Joker is not a good coach. I also remember UK beating #1 LSU, UK tried that last year, and well look what happened
#23
Surey nobody is going to argue for the character of Bobby Petrino?
He was already making millions and as far as leaving the Falcons didn't even have the balls to tell his assistants.

Was Brooks a bad coach? He had worse losses and worse teams than the last couple of years.
#24
I say we give Joker at least another year. He is playing in the SEC. The greatest conference in football.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

I was at that LSU game. Apples and oranges.

Brooks left for a reason and it wasn't his age. He new the rebuilding was coming and didn't want to do that again.

Everybody also raved about 4star recruits Newton and Boyd. So far they have been a bust. That being the case when Locke and Cobb and Hartline moved on there was nobody to step in. A sure thing isn't always a sure thing.
#26
To me if Kentucky were to fire Joker it would be the equivalent of Mississippi State firing Rick Stansbury in basketball. Big mistake.
#27
I do tend to agree that Mississippi State firing Rick Stansbury was a mistake but Kentucky keeping the Joke is another mistake
#28
Can coach cal recruit for football to you reckon? But in seriousness, when it comes down to it, I'm tired of getting excited over music city bowls. I and i beleive all of Kentuckians are ready to contend in the SEC instead of being a sure win for everyone. Facts are facts, Joker is a recruiter, not a coach. And to be honest the recruiting may seem good to us..but half his recruits wouldnt start for most of the SEC teams. Not saying I'm not proud of our players. I loved watching Cobb, Woodson, Locke and of course Steve Johnson. We just needed guys to go with those guys..Petrino isn't my first pick off the board, but him being our best chance at turning things around i say we go for it. Kentucky being in the SEC, seems like it would help us attract coaches to come in and get a taste of our explosive conference...instead i guess it scares them off..
#29
When has Joker's coaching cost a game? What glaring mistakes has he made? Somebody give me an example instead of just saying he can't coach.

I watched Mark Richt absolutely give a game away to Michigan State last year in the Bowl game. Got the lead and just quit being aggressive.

Give me an example of Joker being a bad coach.

Just been working to much, I've been getting on and reading but with my new job I've had to become less biased lol which makes it a little hard on here. :eyeroll:
