I was not able to attend, but Prestonsburg was involved. I hear from P'burg players (from the 1st day) that Bryson Williams was the best player on the field period. I was not there to see for myself & it did come from other P'burg players, but is still good to hear. I also heard no one could cover Adam Griffith on the out routes.

Bryson did look good. I have to say their we're no defense. If you were on offense you looked good. The kid from Breathitt or Harlan looked as good as Bryson but they all three looked good. I sit in the stands for a couple hours beside of my prestonsburg friend. Couldn't say enough about the athletes that eastern Kentucky has.

Good to know about Bryson. I think he will have a huge year. What all teams where there? Who else done well from any team?

Shouse looked good for Breathitt.
The teams I saw was Estill, Betsy Layne, Breathitt, Perry Central, Harlan county Central. The competition was good. Bryson caught the ball real well. Do you think he will be running or catching on the fall, 1blackcat?

I think you will see an equal amount of each. He led the team last year in rushing attepts & pass receptions. I dont see that changing as he is just as dangerous at either position.
I keep forgetting about Shouse going back to Breathitt. That kid is a beast period. He will be a huge addition to already very good Breathitt team.

On Thursday, the teams were Breathitt, Estill, Fleming and Presonsburg.

How did Estill do?

Heard Harlan County looked pretty good at the camp also, I know they have a few good receivers and 2 good Qb's battling to see who will be qb1.

How did the new qb Jarrell look ?

Give us some input on the new qb Jarrell sheriff ...

Here's my take on Jarrell, for what it's worth:
Better overall athlete than Crisp, but not as strong an arm. Jaredd will distribute the ball better, as the knock on Crisp was that he seemed to lock in on only 1 or 2 receivers last year. Jarrell is a very, very smart football player, not afraid to tuck it and run at any time...and he is much faster than Crisp was. Please don't think I am criticizing Adam Crisp in any way. He was a great QB for the Blackcats, and I am just using him for comparison's sake to kind of let you know what kind of player Jaredd Jarrell is. He may turn out to be the best dual threat QB Prestonsburg has had since the days of Trevor Compton.
He is young, but a very intelligent athlete, and he could have a very, very good HS career as a QB at Prestonsburg.

Jarrell is a player. I have a question for pburg coaches though. If they knew jarrell was going to be the qb then why didn't he play any at j.v. How many years does jarrell got at qb? I think jarrell is going to be good, but I don't think they gave him a fair shake. Playing qb at pburg can be difficult because their schedule is rough. If they can stay healthy they will be fine.

I have no real way of knowing, but I believe they HOPED his future would NOT be at QB. He played ALOT of receiver as a freshman, and probably made more spectacular catches last year than any other receiver. I think the hope was to keep him outside and be able to use him as a playmaker down the field.
Another player, Corey Grigsby, who is going to be a fine QB in his own right, was the JV QB all last year. The obvious intention was to try to groom Grigsby as the QB and leave Jarrell where he was. I'm not sure what changed, if anything, but Jarrell was getting so much Varsity time on both offense and defense (he's a very good DB also), that to play him on the JV level may have been a little much for him.

Jarrell is definitely the real deal! Unbelievable smarts and athleticism, hard combination to beat!

Is it true that tha Anderson kid isn't playing. If this is true, this will hurt the blackcats chances. His speed on turf would be amazing. I thought he would be qb but if he has no dedication, it should definitely be out and it would leave the job to jarrell or Grisby. If Anderson doesn't play i would definitely put Bryson and jarrell in the backfield. That speed would be amazing! It would also take a lot of pressure off of Bryson. It's harder to key on two players, not to mention blackCat fan said the te is looking good.

My understanding is that Grant is playing on a traveling summer baseball team. The kid is a DI baseball talent. Everything I have heard is that he will indeed be playing football...probably after the dead period is over.
Prestonsburg will have some speed at the skill positions, with Anderson, Jarrell, and Williams. Alex Kidd is a big fast kid who had to sit out most of last year with a knee injury. He has some great hands and could be a weapon. Adam Griffith is a big ole' target at TE and has soft hands too. They need to solidify some spots up front and find a couple of serviceable short yardage running backs. Cain Collins will be missed...
