Letcher County Central 2012
#31
3 state titles at pikeville idk how many regions lol, how many does Rains have?

^
I didnt say anything about at Pikeville, what did he accomplish at LCC?

Rains had a State Championship, Region Championship and, and State runner up within a three year span at LCA. The year before he took over they were 1-9 and havent been the same since he left.
Im not saying hes the best coach in the world or even better than Howard, but its the best choice the LCC program has made.

He was a great choice. No debating that. He is no legend as Hillard is though. There are only a few of those. To deny, things were headed in the right direction when Howard was there, would be insane.

Also to debate the merits of what was accomplished at a private school vs. what is accomplished at a public school is just not a fair comparison.

What a joke. More players from outside Pike county played for Pikeville in those years than have played for any other comparable team before or since.

Just wondering about the Letcher/Hazard scrimmage...anyone have any details..how the teams, players looked...
#38
If Rains would have stayed at any of his past jobs as long a Howard did at Pikeville, then he prob would have equal to or more titles than Hillard IMO. Rains is a proven coach that will help LCC and to all those fans that post negative comments of every thing that happens at the school do us a favor and start pulling for PCC or Hazard we dont need you or your pathetic rumors.:redboxer

Let us not forget: in order to win games YOU HAVE TO HAVE ATHLETES.
#40
I was around LCC when we was there, all his assistants did all the work, he was just a figure head, and a well paid on at that
#41
Do not even put district and Regional Championships up for Hillard thats a joke. Its not even comparable. But, we here at LCC are ready to move move on with Coach Raines. We will have a rough season this year maybe three to four wins. We will see how Coach Raines handles it. If he thinks its been difficult to just get the kids to come out wait until he starts losing and kids quit. It is an up hill climb here at LCC for a few years so what we need to do is get behind The new Coach and just help any way we can. GOOOOO Cougars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#42
I hope we have a great year. I think we can be very competitive , but alot of work to dO
#43
I agree with every thing you have posted but one thing, I dont think many players will be quitting this year there is real enthusiasm this year thanks to all the Coaches and Players!!!!!! everyone at LCC has my support Go Cougars!!!!!!!!!
#44
What scares me is this if its not a good year the kids will say its not worth it. You dont know these kids like I do. Trust me times are great right now. we have not lost a game and everyone is just ready for football. But as I have said this is a rebuilding year going to be a ruff season. We have a hell of a schedule to. The first three games are Southwestern, Breathitt, and Franklin honestly we COULD start 0-3 if we are lucky 1-2. I just hope the kids stick it out. Tyree, and Hall need to be the leaders and keep everyone on the same page.
#45
How is those Cougars looking, im hearing good things.
#46
I think they are going to surprise alot of people, but win or lose, Coach Rains have taught these boys so much stuff- about football AND life...and THAT'S what I call success...just saying
#47
Saw this team last year and they were very athletic. Hopefully graduation didn't decimate their roster.
#48
LCC scrimmages Pike Central this Thur at LCC. Lots of if's for the Cougars. Kids have been working hard and have alot of enthusiasm. Cougars will have several starters that have little experience. Coach is trying to avoid playing guys both ways. Linebackers should be pretty good. Corners and D line will have the least experience.
#49
Usually a scrimmage don't mean a lot, but I got a feeling most of Letcher County will pay attention to this one!

Good Luck to our rivals across the mountain.
#50
Coach Rains definitely has this team on the right track from what im hearing what a difference one Coach can make. Not sure on the number of wins but should be fun to watch. Go Cougars:Cheerlead
#51
Hey IloveMyKids. Its three weeks into the season Im sure he has not taught the kids so much about life and football in three weeks. So drop the dumb comments and talk football. You act like this guy is Benny Hinn Three week miracles going on here at LCC.
#52
well, well, mr. surgeon...why don't you drop the attitude...nobody likes a smart a## when you're talking about their kids!! Coach Rains has done wonders with some of these kids...maybe you should join the team, he could teach you some manners...just saying
#53
hey Surgeon...you said back in April that if Coach Rains came to LCC then you would be a Jenkins fan from then on out...so STOP CREEPING on Letcher Central threads!!!!!
#54
Ok you want a smart a-- here you go. Three weeks of practice and he has already done wonders sorry save your bull crap for the next guy. I am fine with Coach Raines been our coach but please do not act like he has came here and pulled a miracle story out of three weeks of practice. We can talk in week 6. Ok lets just see what happens. We will find out what kind of miracle your talking about then. But all that been said I believe we win The Southwestern game and start the season with a bang.
#55
I hope they start the season with a bang too, but these kids get on here and read these posts so they dont need to be discouraged by negative comments...surely you understand where im coming from....
#56
anyone have details of the pc scrimmage ??
#57
You have got to be kidding me!!! The GENRAL??? What was that all about?? They got one thing for sure when Raines came and that is everything is about HIM never seen somebody like that before but this is Letcher Co. Why didnt #22 start?? He is the best player on the team. They played like crap!!!! Dont know what the coaches where doing or trying to do maybe they need to pray more and things will get better because the players say that is all they do is pray. Let me figure this one out Raines left Mercer and got fired at LCA and gets the LCC job what was they thinking??? But just like last year it will be all the coaches fault if they lose and they will if they dont change something very quick. Lets pray on that. Good luck LCC wish you guys the best.
#58
How is the team looking for the first game of the season against us (Southwestern)?

You sir, are a f***ing idiot.

LCC did not run their usual plays last night due to scouts from Southwestern being there...smart move I guess, but I hope they run their usual plays better than they did last night...if our offensive line doesn't improve we're gonna have trouble passing OR running the ball:Shaking:, then what are they gonna do?!
