I noticed Miller isn't playing. Also...I couldn't tell. But, was Lane Daniels there today? He and his brother both play. I know Luke still had a couple days of school left in S. Carolina.

Heard the promise of qb wasnt there so who knows, maybe?

TigerBlues Wrote:Blackcat, they actually had around 18 by the time they got started not excluding middle school players. I would say 16 varsity players.
Well thats a lot better than 10, but still need about 10 more at least due to injuries and such during the season. Not to mention its a lot easier to practice when you can have a full offense against a full defense.
Good luck to the Tigers this season. To the DB's of Paintsville. Listen to what Chirico has to say. He knows his stuff & will make you a better player.

I wonder if he's worried Jimmy's boy will be back from his injury and he won't be the starter at QB. How does Lane Daniels look so far? I heard he'll be Paintsville's best athlete this year.

As it stands now, Cash is looking very good at qb. Solid throws with great touch. at 6'2" and has a huge arm, it would be on the thought he is the guy if Matt isnt ready. Watched him throw yesterday and today, looks solid and big in the pocket. The 7 on 7 defense had no answers for his arm, receivers looked really good too. Phelps was in sync with him on all passes. If they can block and give him time to go down field it will be interesting at Paintsville this year. Look for more to come out when baseball ends for the kids playing summer ball.

^Doesn't do any good for Phelps to be in sync with him this season. Phelps will only be an 8th grader this season.

you are right OTH, gotta throw to somebody though in practice. The other receivers did a good job as well just threw in phelps due to his abillity to get under the long ball with his speed. Would like to see Miller at wide out, long and lanky 6'3" could go up and get the ball over the smaller db's in class A.

^Given me a Rondal Conely and Jerry Pelphry flash backs.

Just kind of setting here thinking if how terrible it would be, with all the young potential that is in the school at this time,to have them follow "The Yellow Brick Road". This a result of what has the potential to be negative external interference. As I have said before keep it between the lines and in the coaching box and the Tigers should be fine. This could be the big year for change or it could be just one more step down the YBR.

doubledown Wrote:To much blue bred in the blood of these young tigers charlie, so do not see these young tigers following the yellow brick road. Here is hopin your right DD. I am afraid that there is much more to this particuliar season than the Blood. That has become apparent early on. Have you looked closely at this district. Farview 11 seniors 13 juniors. Nicholas Co. 15 Sr. and Raceland 4 Srs. 14 Jrs and 9 Sophs. I assure you that this Raceland bunch is back. Saw them last year play a game or two in 3A. This Tiger team has great potential and needs absolutely no intervention or external pressure. The coach will I believe do well but the season in District will be tough.

Those top heavy classes at fairview and raceland will be graduated though by the time the big talent at Paintsville matures. Something to hope for at least lol.

Well how are things going under the BMR era...Part 2? What type of offense and defense are they running this year? Who will be the QB? Matt Daniels, Matt Miller, or Kash Daniel?

I think with BMR and Joe C things will certainly be interesting in Tigertown. I for one like others will be satisfied with the out of District schedule. In District will be tough but they will be presentable. Who knows with the absence of certain stimuli it might even get interesting. It almost has to be better than the last 4.

Matt Daniels told me yesterday he might not be playing football this year.

Lane Daniels should add to the upswing in Tigertown, watched him receive passes from Cash/Kash yesterday, good hands and feet. Receivers and Qb looked good, defense working well with coaches, wish more were participating.

That's great to hear Lane Daniels is doing well back at Paintsville. How is Paintsville's line looking this year?

Just wondering what the feelings are out there regarding a Freshman quarterback ("any QB") on any team that is in a building mode. A big step as we all know from 8th to HS. A 19 year old Sr. LB that is trying to make an all state team can be a real killer. Anyway best of luck to the Tigers and which ever QB Runyon chooses. It could very well be a freshman. Then again an old Sr. could be your man. Runyon will probably know who he wants when he sees it. The total schedule should be good for all but the District????? Tough.

From what I have seen so far, Matt Daniels is throwing from a standing position. Havent seen him throw on the move or scramble and step into a throw. I would say his knee is still bothering him but they may be protecting him from further inflamming it. Kash looks great at times and some other times looks rusty, overthrows some but then again when was the last time we have heard that our qb overthrew our receivers on deep balls? I can say I havent seen Matt Milller take the first snap. But as of right now, Kash looks like the front runner and then again if Matt Daniels is able to take snaps in the August opener he would be the guy. If he cant then Kash is going to have be the qb if BMR offense is option read or play action just due to his size and arm strength. I havent seen anyone else take any snaps.

Tiger Blues its not just you. I knew when Chirico went to Paintsville he could make a difference. He is one hell of a motivator. In the few games i've seen PTV play over the last few years they didnt seem motivated at all. If Ptv can dress around 25 players & with no major injuries i think they will suprise a lot of people this year. There are no world beaters on there schedule. I see several games that can be won or go either way. The difference this year is i think they have a more motivated staff to bring them out on the winning side of the close ones.

Blackcat, I went to practice tonight and I'm sad to report they only had 20 players at practice. What a demeaning thing to see especially after from what I've heard they had a good showing at UPike.

^It's still early TB. As Summer draws to an end and start of school nears. You should see a few more come out of the wood works. Some kids just don't want to deal with the Summer practices when they could be doing absolutely nothing.

I heard (now this wasn't from a reliable source) but that a few kids switched over to JC. One being The Miller kid and the Haight kid. Miller may have switched for baseball since he won both district and regional awards for baseball last year on the varsity team as an 8th grader but I doubt it because isn't his father Paintsville Baseball coach?. But someone said the him and haight both were playing football. They also said Miller lives near Matney so.... And they said Haight was playing summer baseball for JC. Haight is a reall good athlete. But others have said neither have even considered switching.
