Remarks by the President at a Campaign Event in Roanoke, Virginia July 13, 2012
Here's a copy of the full speech
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-offi...e-virginia
toward the botton of the speech the president said this:
There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back. They know they didnât -- look, if youâve been successful, you didnât get there on your own. You didnât get there on your own. Iâm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If youâve got a business -- you didnât build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didnât get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we donât do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

After 10 days of calling the president out on this comment the president is now running adding in some states (inclulding Ohio) to say the idea was taken out of "context"

What's your spin on the President's spin? Has his words been taken out of context?

Bucky wasn't using his teleprompter at the time, strayed from his script, and actually said what he believes. He has never worked a day in the private sector. He is a product of big government and government subsidies and handouts.
He is a "community organizer" which is a politically correct way of saying he is an agitator.
Bucky wasn't taken out of context. He exposed his true beliefs. He is dangerous and voters need to act accordingly. All those handouts won't mean much if the country is destroyed.
The poor neither pay income taxes nor create jobs so, rather than crucifying the achievers, you better thank them.

They know what he meant, but that doesn't bode well with their agenda.

nky Wrote:So you're saying that President Obama was referring to the "customer" base of a business when he said "someone else made that happen" ? :thanks:There are a lot of factors that helps build a persons business, and customers are just one aspect of it. It's not all the owner doing it. If you have a business that needs customers to buy stuff, and a train to get your product to you, the train company and the customer help you build your business. If your business sells a product, the maker of that product helps you build that business. Anybody that doesn't have an agenda to spin the President's words around, can understand that his words were taken out of context, but the spinners will never admit it, including you.

Does the President talk about "customers" in the speech? or are you reading that into it? Who's taking the President's words out of context?

I just printed out the link of the president's speech, all 7 pages, and read it thoroughly. There ARE a lot of factors in an individual's success, including the customers/clients/consumers of that product, but it all boils down to the character, work ethic, knowing your product and maybe even some luck to having a successful business. Finally, the opportunity and chance taking of the business owner.
Obama talks about seeing single mothers during his trek across Illinois, and how that made him think of his mom, about how she was raising children on her own, got grants to go back to school, etc. (paraphrasing here) So, I guess maybe a lot of people (taxpayers) DID aid in her getting a job and ultimately raising her family.
I still take exception to the area in his speech where he refers to "you didn't build that". I don't think it has been taken out of context; it's too similiar IMO to Joe the plumber. I think he said exactly what he meant to say, and like RV, is crawdaddin' because people are furious over the remark.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to change their minds, this is just MY opinion.....like it's the business owner's SOLE responsibility if their business fails. If the business owner files bankruptcy, you don't see his customers/clients/consumers bailing them out. Nope, that's where the buck ends!

Is it now? What about his creditors that get stuck with his bill when he files?

Wanted you to know what it feels like to be "called out" since you struck first blood.
What about HIS creditors? What about HIS debitors?
Want to "spread the debt" with the "wealth"?
sickening

You said it was his sole responsibility if he files for bankruptcy. His creditors will bear the biggest brunt of his bankruptcy.

I would never go up against you in school yard arguing.....I could never compete.
You are correct again; I DO love attention from Pappy Bear!!

I'm also not going to argue the point with you, because you are a master at distraction and assumption..LOL
I think I can still post my opinion; hopefully THAT hasn't been taken away from me by a self absorbed, short sighted, socialistic president.

I'm happily married, thank you though.

Obama hates capitalism and he hates people who are successful in our free market system. He looks at successful business people as "fortunate," as if the welfare loafers who comprise one of his core constituencies have done no less to deserves the rewards of our economic system. Obama and his supporters show a deep lack of understanding of what has made this a great country. His words were not taken out of context.

Where have you been? It is common knowledge that the Kardashians have become celebrities by doing absolutely nothing. Thus, since the Kardashian approach mirrors the path of your president in the area of non-achievement, he must be a Kardashian. "Kim" and "Chloe" were already taken. Therefore, "Bucky" Kardashian.
The similarities are amazing.

Wow, you are correct RV...no threats.
I should have said "remarks" instead.
I offer a sincere apology.
By the way, this is an admission of a personal wrong, and offer of a sincere apology...in case you don't recognize the content.

Oh, I see. As a typical Kardashian supporter you are trying to make something racial, aren't you? That comes from page one of the Kardashian playbook, doesn't it? When nothing else seems to work, cry "racist". If you boys and girls spent a little more time examining the record, or actually lack thereof, of Kardashian and less time trying to play the victim/racial/persecuted card, you might do better.
Why "Bucky"? Why not "Bucky"? It fits perfectly with the Kardashian aura. And, in reality, "Dinsmore" didn't seem to fit.

Because if you were an honest man you would admit why you picked Bucky. It is derived from the word buck. Of course, you are not honest, and won't admit it. All you have to do is be a man, and admit how you came up with Bucky. If I come up with that name, you can bet I would be man enough to say it came from the word buck.
