Pikeville @ Harlan Ind. 8/17
#1
predictions please.

I'm predicting that the green team will roll this time around. HHS 28 PHS 14.

This game has been close for the last several years, this time it's the Green Dragons that get things going early and knock off the Panthers 28-21. This is a huge game for Harlan, to see if they are ready to take the bull by the horns and play at the top of the Class A pile, a win here and it gets things going in the right direction.

Harlan by 14+

After hearing the performance Harlan put on Bell, I'd say Harlan big.
#5
I can see Pikeville winning this one. I think it will be a dogfight either way. Excited for Friday.

Yeah after seeing that zero Harlan put on the scoreboard in that scrimmage, I'm so sure Pikeville has no chance I'm not even going to bother going down there for the game.
#7
Im going to say

Harlan 20
Pikeville 15

With only 2 starters out on Bell's defense, not too many 1A teams would or could score against them.

Pikeville in a rout. Harlan won't be playing anybody's JV team this week.

HC will have to play Bell Co. and we'll see if you still think of them as a JV team. I'll bet the house or an avatar that P'ville don't rout Harlan at Harlan. What do you say,BH?

I've watched Pikeville practice at least 10 times this season. I'm not impressed. Pikeville may be the team with the 0 this week.

Bell is the best team in the mountains, and has been the last 5 years. Rest assured that when they play HC in week 10, that they'll have to dress their varsity to win. Pikeville played in the state semis last year while Harlan was dribbling basketballs in the gym. I don't see that big of a turn around this year, unless Harlan gets some new players.
#14
If i dont go to lexington Ill be in in the green stands. Good luck Harlan

HC will play virtually the same team we scrimmaged plus Oslonian,Polly and a couple linemen. The rest of the team hardly constitutes being called a JV team. Also,Pikeville lost an almost irreplaceable QB and a bunch of seniors. Harlan lost 3 seniors. Pikeville beat us at Pikeville by 1 TD with about 50 seconds to go in the game. Harlan had 3 TD's called back of which 2 were questionable calls. You said Harlan would get routed. Alot has changed since last season. We'll just have to see what happens over in Georgetown on next Friday night.

Hhmm. 10 practice eh? Looks like you would have quit watching after 2 or 3. Why waste your time? Sounds like you spent more time watching them than most loyal fans would. And you sir, are no Pikeville fan. As far as the 0 goes, i guess we will see.

Gonna go with HC in this early season match up.

lol you're either trying to fire Pikeville up or just ignorant.
Not going to make a prediction, don't know if Pikeville will be at full strength. If they are, and get adequate QB play, I expect the Panthers to win. But I won't be overly shocked or depressed if Harlan wins beacause they are a pretty decent team. I expect a good game. And win or lose, Pikeville will get better as the year goes on and will be very good come playoff time.

Jetpilot has this analyzed pretty well. Out of the 34 players on Pikeville's roster, 19 are either Freshmen or Sophomores. Harlan has the senior leadership this time around and it's on their field. Pikeville is young, BUT they do have talent and speed. First game out, it's hard to know what the product will look like. Nobody expected Pikeville to have the "refuse to lose" attitude they showed all season last year. Did that rub off? We'll find out. But like jetpilot said, if Pikeville loses this one, it won't be panic time. The first half of the season for Pikeville will be a learning period. Should be a good matchup and a great "education" for the young Pikeville squad.

I totally agree. I would not expect this team that plays Friday night to be anything like the Panther team that takes the field in the playoffs. That was true of last season and will be true this season.

I never said I was a fan, I just happen to see them practice every now and then.

Harlan 24-13

I have Harlan winning this one, their QB play will rise to the occassion.
Harlan 35
Pikeville 21

Scrimmages are Scrimmages, just practice. But to have a showing like that aganist Bell, I don't care who Bell had out, is good for Harlan. Harlan wins this game.
#26
Thank you all for the input, its good to know what others think. IMO, pikeville is a very good team with some talented players. This game will be a dog fight, i dont see the panthers scoring alot on the Dragons defense. 28-7 harlan.
#27
Pikeville will win in a close one 17-14!!!!!
#28
Like to see Pikeville win this one, but Harlan's experience and playing at home make them tough to not pick in this one.

Harlan 26
Pikeville 21

Imo, look for a close battle either way. I'd be surprised if there's an empty seat in the house.
