Cooper 49, Cov. Holy Cross 7
#1
Final from SK

Cooper looked very aggressive and athletic, they capitalized on several Holy Cross mistakes. The Jags are a very good football team

How and when did Holy Cross score? When SK played Cooper in 7 on 7, I thought they were going to be very good.
#3
^early 4th quarter on a pass to the TE

In the prediction thread on this game, I had to laugh at the people thinking HC would win or keep it close. This Cooper team is going to be tough this year.

^ I said I thought Copper was really good, but my unknown was HC. My only savinggrace is I said it "COULD" be a rout. I should have stuck with that....

Cooper is a very good team. Ton of speed and strong on the line. They never gave Holy Cross a chance to get anything going. Very impressive.

The Cooper football team is showing that it is a force to be reckoned with in its fifth season following a second straight blowout of a quality opponent Friday night.

One week after routing Ryle, the Jaguars creamed defending Class 2A state champion Holy Cross, 49-7, in the second of two Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown games at Simon Kenton.

It was 49-0 at halftime as Cooper tailback A.J. Collins scored four first-half touchdowns, three rushing and one on a pass, while running for 68 yards on 12 carries.

Cooper, ranked No. 3 in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll, is 2-0 for the first time in program history. The Jaguars have won seven of their last eight games after winning nine of their first 35.

Holy Cross, ranked No. 8, had its seven-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 1-1 following a season-opening win against Dayton. The Indians had won 11 of 12.

Cooper sent in its reserves at the beginning of the second half, which was played with a running clock.

The Jaguars amassed 259 yards before halftime, 160 on the ground. Quarterback Tyler Morris was 5-for-8 passing for 99 yards and two touchdowns, one to Collins for 32 yards in the first quarter and one to William Ludwig for five yards in the second.

Morris rushed for 92 yards on three carries for 191 total, all in the first half and was named Wellington Orthopedic and Sports Medicine player of the game for the Jaguars.

"It feels good, but it's just two games," said Morris, who added a 48-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. "We need to keep playing well."

Holy Cross was held to 41 first-half yards as Cooper defensive lineman Dustin Mitchell caused havoc by getting in on three sacks. Jaguars defensive back Aaron Morgan scored on a 74-yard interception return to help make it 14-0. The Indians finished with 103 total yards, 28 on the ground.

"Those two (Mitchell and Morgan) are playing great," Cooper coach Randy Borchers said. "We lock in Aaron on the best player and he had a nice game."

Cooper has outscored its first two opponents 84-13. Holy Cross was held to less than 33 points for just the third time in its last 12 games. The Indians lost for the first time to the Jaguars after outscoring them 74-10 the first two meetings.

Cooper's defense has allowed an average of 10.4 points in its last 10 games. Holy Cross came in averaging 46 points in its past 12.
