Good win for Paris on the road. It seemed a lot of people on here were picking Paintsville to roll in this one. Congratulations to Paris.

what a game, can someone explain why Prater Helton is not playing the linebacker position and did he carry the ball one time. I think he is a solid fullback so why not use him. Keep ur heads up TIGERS, good win Paris.
#4
I don't know what to say except we have a lot to improve on.

I was wondering the same thing with Helton. With better play calling Paintsville wins this game by two td's. If this continues Coach Runyon should take over the play calling. On a more positive note, Paintsville's defense didn't give up a point and looked much improved. They do have a lot of room to get better but I think Joe Chirico has them going in the right direction. Let's keep our heads up Tigers, we have nine more games!

Our Young Tigers can hold their heads high. I know losing a game stinks, but these kids showed a lot of guts and grit and gave us loyal Tigers For Life a lot of positives to be excited about. Go Tigers.

On another note, is the James Clark on Paris' team the son of the great James Clark from the 1982 Greyhounds juggernaut?
#7
Yes he is and he's only a freshman
#8
Going to be a long year for Bill Mike Runyon and the Tigers.
#9
Does anybody know how many players Paintsville has on the roster this year???

Frosh, JV and Varsity?
#10
Great to see Paris 2-0 for the first time in a long time. Congrats, Greyhounds!
#11
Lose one game, and it's going to be a long year. Were you even at the game last night??

When you look at the PHS schedule, along with the low roster numbers and injuries...there are no sure wins. Jenkins is 2-0 and blasted Allen Central. Magoffin's not a pushover. Berea won their first game 38-0. Pineville, Fairview, and Raceland are likely to all be blowouts. Nicholas County is a good team. Allen Central and Betsy Layne are both decent. It's not impossible to think we might see an 0-10 season for the Tigers this year. Definitely will need a big turnaround to prevent it.

Paintsville blew their chance of winning this game by getting too cute with the play calling. They have the ball inside the 20 with a first down and throw the ball 4 straight times instead of running it up the gut like they did for about 40 yards that put them in that position. Way too many bad play calls.
Kash Daniel looked like the best player in this game, the coaching staff didn't use him in the best way possible to win this game. Paintsville should have won this game by a couple TD's. I think this game was the only one that Paintsville will actually be the better team that is on their schedle. Paris didn't have an offensive TD, two returns and a interception gave them their 3 scores. Going to be a very long year, BMR probably can't wait for this season to end and the round ball to start.

Listened to part of the game in the second half, and John Doug mentioned that Paris turned the ball over 3 times inside Paintsville's 20, twice fumbling and once by an interception. Did the defense step up with Paris in the Red Zone, or did Paris just shoot themselves in the foot? If the defense caused the turnovers that sounds like a pretty good sign for Paintsville, defensively.

Paintsville defense was awesome in this game and played great. OTOH this is a young team and it showed big time, this team will get better as the year goes on. 0-10 won't happen.

Bob if you are taking that bunch calling the game as gospel, you need to come and watch for yourself. The defense played great all night, special teams killed us.

They didn't insinuate that they didn't. I was listening to the JC game and tuned in during a time out just to get a score, and they just made the statement about 3 Paris turnovers. I just wondered if they were forced or unforced. I didn't listen to anything more after I heard the score. I assume by your comment that the defense was responsible. That's good. That's all I was wondering. Wasn't trying to get anything started.

Nothing getting started Bob. The defense was all out last night, they played hard both sides of the ball but were deflated by special teams play or lack of it. BMR will address this loss and get them back quick. Have a good one Bob!

They were unforced our center got hurt and a new one came in and also Paris team is young to

YOUNG Tigers. This bunch WILL get better. Defense did play great and yes special teams killed the Tigers. I am also sure BMR will take care of that this week.

I enjoyed watching the Tigers and I also enjoyed seeing the bleachers packed for once! Keep working hard Tigers! It will pay off in the near future!

Thanks "master", Greyhound fans should have a lot to look forward to if that acorn turns out to be the oak his father was. Best of wishes to you the rest of the season. Schools like Paris and Paintsville have too much tradition, pride and honor to allow their respective programs to fold. It will require the diligence of devoted men and women to take this to task and rebuild these programs to the powerhouse stature to which they were accustomed during the glory years. Good luck indeed.

Even with a freshmen starting qb, and freshmen starting at key positions the odds of this happening are slim at best. I would even go as far to say like Johnson Central beating Highlands, ain't gonna happen.:dontthink

Congrats to Paris on the win. From everything being said in this thread looks like the Tiger "D" is for real. If they work out the kinks in the special teams department this team could have a few W's before seasons end.

Good luck to the Tigers on the rest of the season.

I watch the first half of the Paris game and I can understand the positive attitude and outlook the Paintsville fans have at this time. I was impressed with the set of skill players currently on the team and with the addition of Phelps it will only get stronger. In, addition it feels like Bill Mike had restored some pride back into the program. With that being said, I am not sure everyone truly understands how far Paintsville Football has to go to get the program back to being competitive. Look at Paintsville’s current schedule and the Maxpreps ranking of the 223 teams in Kentucky Football it appears to be a long season for the Tigers. Paintsville is currently ranked 216 out of 223. Paris was ranked 207, below is the ranking of the other teams on Paintsville Schedule.
8-30 Magoffin County (204) 9-7 Jenkins (191) 9-14Allen Central (195)
9-21 Pineville (189) 9-28Betsy Layne (190) 10-4Fairview (123)
10-12 Nicholas County (158) 10-19Raceland (147) 10-26Berea (192)
As you can see Paintsville will not be a favorite in any of the games. If you take the loss to Paris, add the Fairview, Nicholas County and Raceland losses you are looking at 6 games Paintsville will be competitive in. Thus, winning ½ of those games which would be a positive outcome for Paintsville put them at 3-7. Not sure 3-7 season would keep the spark alive for the short term. Looking at the long term I see lack of line play and depth on both sides of the ball as the greatest challenge to overcome. Let’s hope Bill Mike and Paintsville will meet these challenges successfully.

As bad as I dislike the Johnson Central program I must say that they will beat Highlands much sooner that Paintsville will return to prominence. Just face it Paintsville is terrible and if it makes you feel better by bringing up Johnson Central's struggles with Fort Thomas Higlands it just further shows how pitiful the Paintsville program has become.
