Jerry Lawler collapses during Raw, carried away by WWE medical personnel - NOT A WORK
#1
A scary situation is developing on Monday Night Raw tonight in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Color commentator Jerry Lawler, who worked an impromptu tag team match with Randy Orton against CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler, collapsed and was carried away by WWE medical personnel after he returned to his commentary desk alongside Michael Cole.

Michael Cole just announced that the rest of the show will not be announced!

After coming back from a commercial break, Michael Cole, while holding back tears, announced that Lawler had collapsed ringside and was taken to the back where they are currently performing CPR.

Michael Cole announces that Lawler has been taken to a hospital and is receiving oxygen. He is breathing on his own but the situation remains dire. Out of respect for Lawler, they will go the rest of the show without commentary and hopefully be able to give us another update before the show goes off the air.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer tweets: "Apparently there is some discussion of scrapping the rest of the show." Heat of the moment, right now, sitting here and feeling this in my home, that feels like the right call. I can't imagine what it's like for those in attendance or those being asked to continue working.

After watching the Owen Hart incident, this is eerily similar in feeling!

As noted earlier, Jerry Lawler collapsed during commentary during the Kane & Daniel Bryan vs. Titus O'Neil & Darren Young match on RAW tonight.
A visibly distraught Michael Cole told fans that EMTs administered CPR to Lawler backstage, and that this was "not part of tonight's entertainment."

Arda Ocal, who is at tonight's RAW, wrote the following on his Twitter about Lawler collapsing: "Something is going on with Jerry Lawler right now at the commentary table... It looks like he collapsed. Not part of show. He is being carried away by personnel to the backstage area. He appeared unconscious as he was being carried. I sincerely hope Jerry is OK. When I looked over he was hunched over convulsing in his seat and collapsed, then multiple ppl carried him out"

After no commentary for several segments, Cole provided an update, stating that Lawler was taken to a local hospital in Montreal and is being given oxygen. He went on to note that Lawler was breathing on his own, and that they hoped to provide another update before the show goes off the air. He did say that out of respect to Lawler, that there would be no more commentary for tonight's show.

Michael Cole provided a second update on the condition of Jerry Lawler, who collapsed during Monday's WWE Raw. Cole stated around 9:40 p.m. CT that Lawler was been rushed to the hospital earlier. Cole said Lawler "was receiving oxygen but Jerry is breathing on his own." Cole stated that it was an "extremely, extremely serious situation." He added that out of respect for Lawler, there would not be any additional commentary during the broadcast.

Cole checked in later and added: "We're being told that Jerry is more responsive as we speak. He's reacting to light... He is in isolated E.R., the isolated portion of the emergency room right now as we speak, and he is awaiting a CT scan."

Cole was put in a tough spot by having to provide these updates regarding his longtime broadcast partner and he should be commended for the job he did. Meanwhile, Bret Hart is heading to the ring as I write this. This definitely brings back some memories of his brother Owen Hart's death. Here's hoping the Lawler story has a happy ending.

Cole updates us that Jerry has stabilized, heart is beating on its own, breathing on his own. CT Scan is coming up.

That's a scary situation no matter who you are.

Hopefully he beats this thing and get's back to doing what he loves to do!

Lawler's girlfriend confirmed that he suffered a heart attack.

Also, reports were going around that Lawler was "clinically dead" for 20 minutes before finally being revived by CPR.

Man, that was tough....

Praying for Jerry.

Details on how Jerry Lawler was moved from ringside after suffering a heart attack during WWE Raw
Sep 11, 2012 - 09:27 AM

Medical personnel carried Jerry Lawler away from the announcers' table after he suffered a heart attack during Monday's Raw. A piece of the ringside barricade was removed and he was carried by the EMTs toward the wall of the arena floor and toward the side of the stage where he was placed on a stretcher that was moved into position.

Jerry Lawler’s heart attack at Monday’s RAW got mainstream media coverage from CNN, the Associated Press, FOX, TMZ and many others.

As you can imagine, the mood backstage at RAW last night was very tense. When it became apparent that Lawler was suffering a medical emergency on the air, many people began praying and nobody was paying attention to the show.

Sources who were backstage at RAW are crediting the EMT’s for saving Lawler’s life. Had the heart attack taken place at an independent wrestling show where they don’t have EMT’s and a heart defibulator on hand, Lawler’s fate might have been different.

Lawler is currently in stable condition at the cardiac ICU of a Montreal hospital and is scheduled to undergo heart surgery today.

F4wonline.com is reporting the following details on Jerry Lawler’s condition:

- Lawler wrestled both Friday and Saturday nights in Aruba before heading back to the States and flying to Montreal for RAW on Monday.

- Lawler showed no signs of health problems over the weekend.

- There was some concern at RAW about blood being cut off to Lawler’s brain and potential brain damage. Several fans who were ringside noted that Lawler’s skin appeared blue, a result of oxygen deprivation.

- Vince McMahon was by Lawler’s side through the entire ordeal.
