Thoughts and predictions on which team gets the win in this game.

Could be a great battle. Belfry D will have to be solid for 4 quarters. Ashland will be tough to handle on their home field. Pirates 28-27.

My initial hunch is there won't be many points scored in this game.
I see the Final Score being somehwere in the 20-14 range one way or the other.

Belfry Pirates by 14.

Tomcats 40-20
Belfry is a good team but these tomcats left the cam with a bitter taste in there mouth last season. Also belfry struggled with the athletes of Henry clay so idk if they have improved enough to stop Ashland since then.

Actually know I think baker has a solid game. But to contain guys like Massey,Elam, salow, and Jackson I just don't know if they can do it all. Ashland has so may guys who can score anytime they touch the ball.
But I have been wrong before. We shall see

Im saying Ashland in a close one, but they are going to have to play with more heart against Belfry than they did last night against Boyd County.

It's hard to get up for the county anymore. Going through the motions Ashland beat them by 40. I remember you saying your little one likes to wath the "big tomcats" so who is he rooting for on Friday?

One thing I would point out. Belfry plays 1 (zero last night) lineman both ways. So, if Ashland wins the battle up front - it will be difficult to say they wore Belfry down. But, then again, Belfry has played 2 quarters in every game but one this season and that game --- they lost handily.
Even in losing to Henry Clay, Belfry rushed for 350 yards. They lost 3 fumbles, a couple in the red zone if I recall. I think Belfry will be able to move the ball on offense, but must limit turnovers and penalties because Ashland will make them execute and march the field. I don't anticipate many long gains out of the running game.
Defensively for Belfry, I am most concerned with the D-line being able to play tough and containing Ashland's skill in passing game. I was able to watch the Ironton/Ashland game on local TV, and Elam had good protection on pass plays but just seemed to be inaccurate. For Belfry's sake, I hope he is off target this coming Friday.

Very true, I have seen the cats play much better than they did last night... and they still won by 40. We have been cheering for Ashland hardcore this year, and friday will be the first time that is a bit odd for me. We're going with our kid's school and program and cheering for Ashland :devilflam

haha I really want the Ashland win though... the night after Belfry Middle beat Verity Middle I got a call from my own Grandmother so she could rub that one in. I don't want to survive to deal with friends and family if the Tomcats lose.

i dont know what to say right know, maybe latter in the week, the thing the comes to mind the most is the starters not seeing much playing time since the HC game, they did shut down P-burg air attack, but i say the Tomcats is much better,so with starters not playing, it could be a blessing(cuse they b well rested) or curse(cause they wont be used to playing the whole game)should be gr8 game...

My putty tat friends may not like this but their offense is not that impressive. Their defense getting turnovers and 3 and outs is what makes them so explosive. They score a bunch of points but its mostly because their offense is on the field for about 5to1 more snaps than their opponents. If Belfry can sustain drives against their defense I like their chances. If not it will be a long night.

Which i prefer actually in a team. A good defense will keep you in every game.

That's nice a Belfry 8th grade with 14 holdbacks with 4 of them being there 3rd year in the 8th grade and 2 other players that Belfry parents didn't know because those 2 weren't in the 8th grade. That info came from Belfry parents. One kid got in the truck and drove off after the game. Yep that's real nice.
