The Lakers dominated this years game, but made a few mistakes that kept this game closer than it should have been. Two fumbles lost....one inside the Rock 5-yard line kept the score lower than it could have been.
Nick Britt 14 Carries for 194 Yards & 4-TD
Lucas Williams hit a 47-yard FG and had what looked to be a 63-yard punt.
At least one D1 recruiter in the crowd from what I heard.

Lucus should be able to name his school...Maybe the best player to ever come out of RC is a kicker???

Has Rock quit playingtackle football?
JK, Great game by Britt and the Lakers again tonight.

That was honestly one of the best punts I've ever seen, as soon as it left his foot I said "Whoa." The bounce wasn't even that great either.
Rockcastle's only 1st half 1st down's were on a fake punt and a personal foul..

I agree. It is apparent that Rock is young. They are relying on several starters that are obviously still learning. I hope the fan base doesn't get too down on the results, because they have talent.....it's just too young right now. The unfortunate part is the upper class players won't be around to reap the benefits....all they can do is play their tails off. Hats off to those young men because they are leaving it all out there knowing it's an uphill climb.

I keep saying that this kid is a D1 quality kicker/punter. He doesn't get many punt attempts, but has a whale of a leg.
The Laker D played great tonight. If they can continue to defend the run as well as they did tonight they will be dangerous. I'm not sure if Rock had many offensive yards at all. Two descent runs in the 2nd half was about it. Rock had a size advantage up front, but the Lakers won the battle of the line all night.

Great defensive game for Russell County and good offensive play calling for Russell . Need to shore up the turnovers though before they go ANY deeper In the schedule.

Most Rock fans, including myself, are spoiled. We are not used to having 2-3 win seasons. Even in down years we would experience 6-7 wins seasons. I am the kind of fan that will voice my frustrations but will still buy the shirt, follow the team and attend games. It is hard, but I still believe the Rock can be hard again. I am glad your eyes see talent and potential there. I will take your word for it.

D1 nothing.... he has an NFL leg.
The field goal would have been good from 60.

congrats to russell county, what else can i say we are really bad right now we just dont have enough talent to play with good teams right now and not real sure next year will be any better, and i am so glad we spend 75 to 85% of a practice on defense and not spend more time trying to improve the offense that s working out well.

Get him to UK they have a good record for getting punters to the NFL i guess because they use them so much LOL... I say that and im a UK fan!

Knox and Russell County! This will be a big time showdown.
09-29-2012, 01:13 AM
He won't punt in college, he's a much better kicker, and he's not going to UK because they've already gotten a commitment from the #3 kicker in the nation. Things could change between now and next fall but he has his school picked out.
09-29-2012, 01:22 AM
Russell County's kicker is there best player IMO lol.
He is the reason Whitley couldnt get anything going all night against RC. He touchbacked the ball all night.

I would love to see Rockcastle pull themselves together and go far in the playoffs. Wishful thinking, but it would be awesome to see Highlands get revenge on them for beating us in the playoffs a few years ago. We would hang 80 on Rockcastle.

LWC, in ROCK's 41 year history......there was indeed down years w/ worst records; 1975= 2-9, 1976= 1-10, 1979= 3-8, 1980= 1-10, 1984= 1-9....the ROCK and Russell have met before tonight's matchup 8 times. The 7 of the 8 games played were dog fights ONLY the first year in 1972 were they beat us 42-0, now this being the 2nd time getting shutout. ROCK is like I said in previous posts young and the mentality aint engraved yet BUT I guarantee the next 5-6 years... ROCK will get back it's winning ways
congrats to Russell Co.

I know they have had worse records, I was speaking of my lifetime, or really a quarter of a century.

Are you kidding, the mentality was put into those kids years ago by Coach Larkey and Saylor, it is passed down each year, so that shouldn't be the problem. Who fault is that. Are you saying the kids are not mentally tough.
As for 5 or 6 years getting back, are you really serious, fans won't wait that long and a program like Rock shouldn't be in that shape.

Apparently if we CANT budge on tackling and blocking importantly THEN yea some mentality aint clicking.....it can be also the self disciplinary attitude in commitment.

There have been a lot of questions regarding Russell County's defense. With the high powered offense scoring so quickly it keeps the D on the field quite a bit. In last nights game the Lakers held Rock to 82-Yards Rushing / 14-Yards Passing (Whitley held them to 57 & 72). Coming in to the game Rock was averaging 227 rushing yards / game.
Rock's D was allowing 134.5 yards on the ground, and the Lakers went for 314....along with 136 in the air.

Congrats Russell county but laker20 Rocks offense just not clicking this year

Russell County is legit. Rock doesn't need to hang their heads. Anybody in Russell County will tell you that this is the best team the school has ever had.
09-30-2012, 02:21 AM
It seems Rock has been able to run the ball quite well against some teams, but against Russell and Whitleys defense they were just smothered down.
I expect Rock to have a good year next year once these younger guys mature.

Rock will lose alot this year. not sure if next year will be any better.

Russell county needs to clean up the ball handling before it gets us beat ,rock needs to throw more screens, play action or something, decent defense, just not gonna run very good with the backfield in place ,hope u guys can figure it out
10-01-2012, 08:41 AM
The rock don't need to pass nomore they need to pass about 10 times less a game , line up in wishbone , or l and just pound it keep the other teams defense on the field a while is what they need these short quick field possesions are killing the rock
