I personally don't think that it will be that much of a war!!! Knox is way too physical for Russell to handle!! Yes Russell is very quick but that's about it our defense will cause them head aches all game long, then our two headed monster in the backfield will keep them off balance too!! IMO the panthers are just way too much for Russell to do much with. The only advantage Russell has will be in the kicking game other than that no way no how can Russell beat us!!!!

Canday is a good player, but has no shot. A mountain kid hasnt won Mr. Footbal since Tim Couch and it may never happen again.

According to the radio WKKQ Canady had 149yds 2 TDs and Gist had 124yds an 3TDs, as stated before we are more than just one player. Thats from atop a press box in the rain. I am sure when the stats are broke down and they can start and stop the film these numbers may change up or down.

For 30 minutes of play this was a very good football game. Canady, along with other Knox seniors stepped up and took the game over mid-third quarter. Canady is deserving of all the hype...very good football player and NOT overrated at all. Personally, I think Knox's defense is underrated. They will flat come up and blow up a play. Again, Clay digs a hole early with two quick turnovers. Clay has turned the ball over 9 times in the last two games having four in this one. Their opponents have zero I believe. Clay's upperclassman did not step up in the second half or the score would have been respectable.

To watch a kid play one game and determine his "softness" is crazy. No, I dont think Hyde played a great game, but you guys calling soft is plain silly. He is a big kid who is still learning how to play and he plays 90% of plays both offensively and defensively. Once UK gets in college shape and decides which side of the ball they want him to play then I believe he will make southeastern KY really proud. As for Canady, he is a great talent, but IMO he is not the back that killed us last night. The score was not indicative of the game that was played either. Yes it looks on paper as a smack down, but it was far from it. The score was 7-0 with 2 minutes to go in the half when Panthers scrored to pull ahead at the half. In the first possession of the 2nd half, Clay scored on a long drive to pull within 14-6. We could keep them from scoring after that. Give credit to Gist and Canady and the QB, who I thought played very well and broke our backs a few times with completions and good runs.

I agree with you PIG. I thought the difference in the game was KC's defense after Clay pulled within one score to open the 2nd half. You would have thought Clay's defense would be the ones who stepped up and make plays for some 3 and outs, but it was KC's who took over the game. Also, we had 2 punts the 2nd half that netted a 10 yard average and you cant give good teams a short field to work with. Also, I believe Canady is one of the best backs Ive seen in a while. Size and Speed look to be excellent. And he runs hard without taking a few plays off to rest. I like KC's chances of winning the district. As for Clay, we just need to stop laying the ball on the ground and play a full game.

Think A lot of Knox comments were along similar lines last year. Knox may beat Russell by 50 but the loss won't be because we underestimate our opponent or because we think we are better than we are. Hope all Knox fans and their players have the same attitude. Russell will take all advantages given to them whether overconfidence by Knox or under estimating us. Game should be a easy win for Knox👊

If you think that Russell County is soft you are sadly mistaken. I hope your big strong panthers feel the same way. The Knox County game last year (which we won by the way and lost no one while you lost some of your big stud lineman) we had some linemen out and for some reason replaced them with guys who should not even be linemen. As a matter of fact the starting left guard from last years game is a back up wide reciever now! Knox somewhat controled the line of scrimage and yet we still won. We are MUCH stronger on both sides! Our Linebackers, Safties and even our corners will hit you and hit you hard! You are right about the Kicking Game...Williams is a huge weapon!! Don't expect any return yards...it won't happen. You may be right it may not be the WAR everyone expects...but it won't be because the Lakers aren't coming ready to battle! Knox has a great team! It has some good wins! I wouldn't be surprised to see Knox and Russell County play twice this year! 4A District 6 has two Really Good teams! We will see how good in a couple weeks!:redboxer:

For you to Question coach Russell's integrity is foolish and down right offensive. If there was an error in the stats it was just that an -error. Canady has plenty of stats and frankly has no need to bolster his accomplishments.

Knox Central PA - 103
Russell Co. PA - 96
Non-Canady rushing TDs - 6
Non-Britt rushing TDs - 11
Knox Central Passing Yards/TDs - 596/5
Rusell Co. Passing Yards/TDs - 928/6
But by all means don't let the facts get in the way of your argument and awful grammar.

Told you guys Clay wouldn't have a chance. Canady dominated this game. If Canady's touches hadn't of been limited the second half, it might've escalated to 70-6. Clay's defense can't tackle and they're limited passing game completely destroys their offense.

If I remember correctly, the Panthers allowed South Laurel to score 21 points. Until Thursday nights against Southwestern the only team that allowed them to score more was Lynn Camp. Corbin held them to 14 and N. Laurel held them to 10.
Oh Yeah: Scoring more than 10 through 6-games
Panthers: Canady 102, Gist 32, Barger 26, McWright 11.
Lakers: Britt 108, Williams 48, Fletcher 42, Ellis 36, Mann 18, Cox 12, Whittle 12

To be such an expert on Russell County football you must have watched us several times this year. Which games did you miss if any??

Well just don't see that game being at Russell, but I do agree that it could very well both of our team in the region champion game. Both Lexcath an Boyle are down some this year it's our best chance to make it to state semi game, but lets not get ahead ourselves.

The only reason you think Russell beat Knox is because they monkey stomped Whitley Co. An you have been on their band wagon ever since:worthy: well I'm here to tell you that Russell will not monkey stomp Knox like they did WC you have never given Knox any respect!! An that's sad all I can tell you is come on down to Knox on oct 19 an we will see just who is the better team!! I bet you haven't even seen Knox play a game this year cause if you had you would have a idea of just how good the panthers!! I believe I can speak for the panther fans it's about time people start showing us some respect or they can just kiss our :moon:

Why would he do this? Colleges are not even looking a Canady to play offense. Also, I do not think u need to be talking about a person who has passed on. Have a little respect. If you have a problem call coach Russell up and talk to him personally. Let the panther nation enjoy the success that they have worked so hard to achieve. It is hard for folks to deal with the reality that Knox Central has over the last 5 years emerged as a true power house in the mountains. It was so easy for years and years to chalk us up as below average and worse. KC has improved each year for many years and frankly, even losing Coach Mills, did not even cause a pause in the momentum. Coach Russell took the reins and has done a great job.
Now we are sitting here 7-0 with a great shot at a perfect regular season and a deep run in the playoffs and maybe more. And the only thing people can do is question our stats. Let me put it to you clear. Nobody around here gives a flying flute about stats. You don't have to read stats to know the J. Canady is one of the best football players in KY - just try to tackle him. To attack people personally on a public board will not change the reality of what has happened in this county. Through years of dedication by young men who love this game and the leadership of Coach Russell and his staff we are building a tradition that will impact the lives of all who are involved in the program way beyond that field.

I think it is hard to get a handle on Knox outside of the Harlan Co. game.....
You really can't get much from watching Clay, they are soft, and if the refs are the right ones it is near impossible to get anything done in Manchester. Hyde takes too many plays off and when he is not taking a play off he is SEC caliber.....at holding.
