GEORGETOWN â Scott County simply could not be stopped Friday night.

The Cardinals scored touchdowns on 10 of 10 possessions, then ran out the clock on their 11th to rout visiting Henry Clay 69-34 at Toyota Stadium.

Clay McKee went 6-for-7 passing, good for 224 yards and four touchdowns.

"We practiced hard all week and our offensive line just did a great job blocking," McKee said. "Our backs carried it hard, and they just set stuff up in the passing game. It all starts on the O-line."

Brothers Scott and Thomas Daniel caught two touchdown passes each. Scott Daniel finished with three catches for 156 yards, while Thomas had two for 63.

Dierries Dumphord ran 23 times for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Kevo Edwards gained 78 yards on 11 carries, including two TDs.

Hunter Nelson also ran for a score, and Grayson Miller returned a fumble 26 yards for a touchdown.

The Class 6A district foes combined for 103 points and 845 yards â 499 by the Cardinals.

Scott County (6-1), rated No. 6 in the state, has won five in a row. It has beaten Lexington teams 11 consecutive times.

"It's funny how life is, but you can accomplish so much if you don't care who gets the credit," said Coach Jim McKee, father of the quarterback. "That's the biggest thing that I think has been a ... hallmark of our program over the last however-many years.

"When you get everybody to buy into that team concept, then there's plenty of glory to go around then, if you win."

Henry Clay (3-5) lost its third in a row despite a strong showing on offense.

Sammy Carter completed 12 of 20 passes for 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

One went to Austin Black, who finished with 141 yards on six catches, and the other went to Elijah Bell on a 51-yard screen play.

Bell also ran 10 times for 158 yards and two scores.

"When our defense starts playing ball, we can be a pretty good football team," Coach Sam Simpson said. "We've got a lot to play for. We've got two tough teams ahead of us now. We've got Dunbar and Bryan Station.

"We've got to take them one at a time, but realistically we've still got a chance. If we win out, we finish the season tied up at 5-5, but we'll have a home playoff game, and that's something to play for."

Scott County led 48-26 at halftime.

Dumphord scored runs of 41 and 3 yards.

Scott Daniel caught two balls for touchdowns of 72 and 53 yards, while Thomas Daniel snared a 43-yarder.

Edwards got the Cardinals' other touchdowns on runs of 4 and 37 yards.

Henry Clay got first-quarter touchdowns on a 3-yard run by DeArion Jones and an 83-yard run by Bell.

The Blue Devils were then blanked until scoring twice in the last 21 seconds of the half.

Carter connected with Black for a 76-yard TD with 20.3 seconds left.

Jones then recovered an onside kick, and Bell took a screen pass 51 yards to the end zone as time expired.

The quick scores didn't do anything to slow Scott County in the second half, though.

Miller's fumble return 1:05 into the half got the scoreboard lights flickering again.

And on offense, the Cards stayed in high gear.

"I thought (Clay McKee) played extremely well," Jim McKee said. "When you're able to attack from multiple positions and multiple places, that's what makes you really tough to stop. I felt like we were obviously able to attack them inside, outside and then hurt them with the play-action pass, too. When you get all three of those things going, that makes you more effective."
