Boyle Co. 38 Whitley Co. 7

RunItUpTheGut Wrote:To be completely honest, in an option offense, the QB is by far the most important player on the field, and seeing as to how we didnt have ours, it really makes this game look misleading IMO.
I think our frosh actually done alright for his first start. Its the pass defense that hurt us.

Our starting middle linebacker didn't play, but you don't here us making excuses for why Whitley gained some yards up the middle.injuries are a part of football.

Theres a big difference in a linebacker and QB.
I wasnt making excuses. You all take you QB out and put in a frosh that hasnt played that much, and the score would have been reversed. The reason we got yardage up the middle is because of Bryant, whether your MLB would have been there or not, the kid is a load and hard to bring down.

The best part about this game is it doesnt mean a thing.

I will say watch out for RC, there team speed alone will allow them to play with anyone in 4A.
Ive been saying it since the beginning of the year that they would surprise and 10-0 isnt surprising to me.

And I can say that Highlands would much rather meet RC than Lex Cath or Boyle for 2 reasons. One is those two teams are proven tough outs in the playoffs and two Highlands likes nothing better than a team to come in unbeaten and to be able to send them home with a L. It is a lot of fun the week prior to playing an unbeaten, easy to get up for the game.

I am quite aware of what good football looks like, and I was actually referring to the 4A playoffs. Not to mention, the level your talking about is twofold...Trinity is on their own level, while BG, St X, and HHS are on a lesser level. The Lakers have huge offensive potential when they are on...as good as any of the 4A teams that they could potentially face. The Laker defense has been less impressive, but have been consistent in keeping points off the board.

In a BC vs RC match up, if both teams are on, I like our chances. If either team is off in any facet of the game, then we will likely see a blowout.

That is against poor competition, you have yet to see them go against a good D, which makes a very big difference. What are they going to do against a team like Highlands that exceeds the speed they have, are very very well coached and also have strong O and D?

I'm done, the best team won regardless of who played,or didn't play.time to move on to next week.

BTW, our QB isnt out because of a big injury or anything, Black decided to rest him, just like a couple of others.....

IMO, smart move.

I'm not here to bash either team. But either way, I believe Boyle County wins this game big. I know it's not what you were getting at but I feel like everyone is trying to make it look like the reason the game was won so decisively was because Whitley County didn't have their starting quarterback. I'll give Whitley County maybe one more touchdown with the starting quarterback.

As expected, both teams and fans were a class act. Whitley County, nice stadium and facilities. Enjoyed my time there. Good luck in the playoffs.

As were the Boyle fans. Im glad this series is continuing. I believe it gives Boyle a week to get better, but i like having good teams fill our schedule.

Glad you liked the facilities, i remember a time (back when i was in school) when it was standign room only in that place, and its harder to get the fans out now, but ive always loved the layout of our campus.

I really hope we start to begin some upgrades on some different things, but overall, your right on top of the action, and its a good place to watch a game.

The only reason im brining our QB in the discussion was because of our offense. We run a pretty sophisticated offense for a high school team. It didnt show last night because we played very conservative without our QB. I agree Boyle still prolly would have won, but im being completely honest when i say it could have been a much better game.
In an option offense, the QB is the true 100% leader, and makes all the reads. However, the kid you seen last night IMO will be the starter next year, and the current starting QB, who is only a Soph. will be moved to runningback.
Im still impressed by our freshmen RB. Mills may be one of the fastest players ive seen on the field, and i know he is the fastest frosh ive ever seen. Do you all remember the play where he ran about 70 yards, just to get back to the line of scrimmage? lol. We got a LOT of youth on this team. As long as everyone stays healthy, i could see us really competing for a regional title, and maybe a shot at going to Bowling Green.

Good luck in the playoffs Boyle. Thats region may be the best overall region in the state from top to bottom.

What number was the freshman runningback?

Boyle is ready for the return trip to Ft. Thomas.

24 Zach Mills.

We start several underclassmen.

The future looks very bright.
I look for the next two years to be better games then the first two, but with it being the last game of the year, its very hard to gage.

Gut, I don't know about you but I can't wait to see the game with Boyle and Russell. This will be some good stuff to see!

Both teams have to take care of business this week first.

I agree with you. Whitley County has a bright future. Boyle County also has some key young players. Most notably Josiah Robbins. This kid is going to be a star. But, I look forward to next year. Now hopefully both teams make some noise in the playoffs.

Should be a great game.
I think Boyle and Russell are pretty even, but Boyle will have to travel to Russell which could be the difference.

Whitley beat Somerset who beat Danville who beat Boyle and Russell will be too much for Boyle this year Smile

The same rc team that got beat by mercer co last year. RC is in for a reality check. Go rebels.

Yes, the same team that got beat by Mercer last year vs the Boyle squad who isn't even the best team in Danville this season.

^^from the homer who thinks a win over a first time starter freshman QB is a quality win....of course when you only have 6 wins to choose from you take what you get...........:biglmao:

In 2 weeks Boyle will be 8-4,and Russell will finish the season at 11-1.then you'll be thinking about what might have been if Russell hadn't got beat by the lowly Rebels.the second best team from title town as you put it.

Laker I like how you back your team and seem to have a ton of faith, but you also need to be realistic when looking at the playoffs. RC has not been a perennial power and one good season against a very poor schedule does not make a team a title contender. Could it happen, very slight chance. I just think your bold posts are going to come back to bite you in the butt. Every year it happens with a team like yours, big record against poor competition and then a running clock when they play the big boys. I would much rather play RC than Boyle who we have played twice the last two years,it is fun to get to see new teams I just do not think it is going to happen. Best of luck Friday
#54
This is a good game for both teams. I wish they would schedule it earlier in the season so that neither team would be resting kids to get them ready for the playoffs. The playoffs are much more important than a nondistrict game so teams are forced to let players heal with injuries instead of taking the chance of aggravating those injuries.

Yep second best team in Danville that beats the lakers in 2 weeks. If you guys played are schedule you be lucky to see 500.

Im sure rc is a ok football team just not on are level.

Common man you predicted earlier Boyle by 21. Now you are saying a running clock . Which are you predicting, 21 or a running clock???

1st- this is a boyle vs whitley thread
2nd - we play marion this week and that is the only game that matters
3rd - we are aware that there is a gauntlet of traditional powerhouses standing between us and our goals...but all of you will see a well coached, very balanced, fast, skilled, hard hitting, physical laker squad that will respect every opponent but fear none of them!
Go lakers!
