It was sad and an disrespectful to high school athletics to see Cov. Cath. fans/parents in the parking lot drinking alcoholic beverages. And they were not making any attempt to hide it.
Drinking at college and pro football games might be acceptable... but drinking at any high school athletic contest is just sad and disrespectful.

Defiantly thought it would've been a better game. Congrats Covington catholic. Safe travels going home.

Cov. Cath. is a better team. They stopped JC's running game... and our passing game was nonexistent.
JC couldn't stop Cov. Cath's passing attack. And their qb had 2 nice TD runs early in the game.

The better team won this one all night. Sad to say, but congrats to CC.

Until Matney hires a defensive secondary coach he'll never beat a northern ky team that relies on the passing game. Simple as that. He may never beat them anyway but he would have a much better shot at it.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but I distinctly recall a black and gold-tinged cocktail party going on along the fence line when we were there back in 2008. Kettle, meet pot. That said, I can't defend the CovCath faithful because of the empties left behind in the student section after the playoff game last year. The consensus was that they had good taste in their booze as a number of empty Woodford Reserve bottles were left behind.

Cov Cath will meet its annual road block next week. It must suck to have Highlands in your district.

The people that park on the other side of the fence line near the scoreboard aren't on school property.

Welcome to tailgating at most Catholic high schools from what I've seen.

Shouldn't your ire be directed at the head coach and not the secondary coach? Isn't it the head coach who decides what defensive schemes are play?

Cov,Cath is the second best team in 4a football. Its just they got to play Highlands. If Covington,Catholic was in any other region they be in the finals I said that all year.

You are right, but if he doesn't start playing his best players both ways, he won't win it either!!!!!

I agree with you to, but until eveyone at JC stops being happy with nine or ten game win seasons and then getting the shit kicked out of them. Things at JC will never change!!

First, Congrats to Cov Cath, they totally dominated us tonight. We have alot to feel good about next year as we are young and have most of the kids back.
I am a Matney fan and he is JC Football. What I saw last night though was the path we are on now will not beat the teams from up North. Here is what I saw at the game.
1)Cov Cath was more excited about playing the game, we seemed flat.
2) Cov Cath two platoon system wore us down early. I know we have alot of kids banged up. To play at the high level, you have to have numbers.
3)Cov Cath offense is more modern and the execution was flawless, our offense is good, but was stopped in its track and our execution was poor.
4) Cov Cath's skill postions were well coached and again executed.
Our kids are just as talented, we have just as good facilites, we have just as much money, we are going to have to change our program and impove our execution. This may not seem like a nice comment, but it is a fact. I think with some of the groups coming up, Matney will have the opportunity to expand our scheme and we can compete at this level.
Good luck to Cov Cath next week, you have a great shot at being champs.

That qb from CCH had a friggen cannon. One pass was 40 yards on a rope. I hope he is getting recruited big time.

JC may have two or three kids that could play on CC. That is 11, 12 and 34!!!

IMO JCHS lost to a better team! Coach Matney done a great job with this group of kids. The fans from Nothern Kentucky can say what they want too but the fact of the matter is JC just doesn't have the SPEED needed to win a state title! The CC DB's were caught off guard a few times by #1 for JC but they were way faster and could catch him with ease. #12 for JC may be the hardest nosed player I ever saw play at JC but his 40 yd dash time couldn't break 4.8 running down hill with the wind behind him. IMO anyone one from JC knocking coach Matney should be ran out of Johnson County. His system and coaching won JC a district title and he done it by beating a Ashland team that had more talent and speed. The only thing critical I have to say about coach Matney is that his "Belly Read" system has shot its wad vs the teams from up North and even vs Ashland and Belfry. Ashland, Belfry and CC were shifting there defensive line while the JC QB was calling his signals and this seems to confuse the JC Offensive line and the "Belly Read" is not nearly as effective. I think it was Bell CO that exposed this weakness a few years ago. IMO if coach Matney would mix in the old "dive option" were the QB can give it to FB or run it himself or pitch it, this would force the defense to cover the whole field, not just the Belly read gaps. I bet there was 10 times last night that the second give on the belly was not there but the outside was covered by only one man. The Old dive option mixed with the Belly Option would have racked the yards last night.

Bottom line!! Let all the other sports begin!! GET YOU FOOTBALL PLAYERS IN THE WEIGHT ROOM!!! Matney coaches wrestling, so get one of those 12 asst. in the weight room and get stronger and faster BOTTOM LINE!!!

Actually....NO
It is pretty much the ENTIRE Hamilton Family and Families of other players and their friends.
Some people....I get on here and defend the Black and Gold and you try and yank Paintsville into it, with your off the wall comment.

I'm sure it was just a little nip to keep warm, it does get cold this time of year. At least it was a good quality Kentucky product.:yum:
