Central 12 Belfry 6(3A State Championship)(OT)
#1
Belfry botches an option on the first possession and come away empty, Central makes the play like great teams do and the King reigns.
#2
Final
#3
Central has Belfry's number
#4
Belfry just can't get it done.. Good game, but you just have to wonder when will Belfry be able to get over the hump.
#5
Id atleast of attepted a field goal...
#6
Great game, but once again Belfry is the Alydar to Central's Affirmed.

Defensive slugfest between two very even matched teams. In the end, two early turnovers, a critical drive by central (though it did not result in points), and a matter of one team who makes the play while the other misses their chance.

Nothing but respect for the Yellowjackets!

Belfry for the second straight year establishes themselves as an equal, but what matters is the big trophy will be residing in Jefferson County.

Central has everyone's number in 3A. Belfry plays them as tough as anyone in 3A. Congratulations Central, and very good effort Belfry.

Freshman kicker who already missed an XP earlier and has only attempted one PAT this entire season. Can't fault the decision...but if Belfry wants to beat Central they have GOT TO GET BETTER IN SPECIAL TEAMS
#9
Got give Central all the credit. What they have accomplished is impressive.
#10
Just think, if either team would have made their extra point in regulation, there would have been no overtime. Both teams were an extra point away from winning this game in regulation.
#11
How many times has Central beat Belfry in the state finals?

I believe this makes 4 times now..

2010: 46-7
2011: 15-14
2012: 12-6 OT

4 too many
#16
Sounded like a heck of a game. Congrats Central on another win, and even though most on here know I don't care to much for belfry, I have to say they played a heck of game and had just as good of a chance to win as Central did. It all boiled down to Central made the play and belfry didn't. That's the difference in who won this game
I'm in love with Tawnya.. hehe..

Tom is not my friend....

if you have any questions send me a p.m.

2007,2010,2011.2012 i think

That is correct.

At this point no one can say Central is so much better than Belfry. They have mad the final plays that matter the last two years, but Belfry is their equal. I also think Bell is in that category as well.
#19
Belfry is potentially feet away from being back to back champions. A TD pass that was in by about a foot last year, and an XP that missed by a few feet this year.

At the end of the day, no excuses... Central earned the win and did it the way a Champion should, in the clutch. I truly have respect for Central like a Highlands, trinity, etc...Scroggins is so underrated as a HC and these close wins are a testament to not only him, but the composure and discipline of his talented players. WEhat a defense. Some of those options Belfry ran tonight would have been TD's on every other team in 3A.

Coachdad and any Cetral lurkers on here... congratulations! The Prince of 3A must wait another year.... as the King once again reigns in his court!

I think there are teams in 3A that can play with Central, but win by 1 or 100, it is still a win.

Congrats to both, well played game.

I'll be honest. I hate to have to say it, but, Congratulations Central.

Great Season, Pirates!

Sometimes those little things are what seperates THE best from the others. No one can dispute Centrals domination of 3A. Don't take this wrong, as I am a Belfry fan as well. But respect is earned, and Central deserves it.

There is no lack of respect for the Yellow Jackets. They are the undisputed kings of 3A no doubt about it. They deserve all the praise they get.

Thanks eku , congrats to both teams on a hard fought game !

Boom boom boom boom boom the Champ is here !!!!!!!
#26
Congrats to Central as the dynasty continues. Totally agree on Scroggins and that D

Only old farts like us probably get that first sentence.

Congrats to Central and Belfry for both leaving it out on the field.

The kids played their hearts out and my heart goes out to them. I know there will be a lot of "analyst" giving their opinion of how the game would have went down if "I coached" but just stop it, you look pompous. Guys,it's high school football and just be proud that your team,Belfry, had a opportunity to play for a state title. I know every 3a team KY besides L Central would have loved to play on the last weekend of KY high school football this season.

I know the kids are hurting but when look back you should feel proud of your teams accomplishment. The community, parents, and the school should feel proud of your son, brother, nephew, cousin etc. and the cheerleaders because you guys played like CHAMPIONS!!!!

This ole' dude from VA salutes you!!!1:Thumbs:

All this does for me is confirm what I previously thought. Belfry is without a doubt top 2-3 in 3A, it's debatable. They played another great game but came up short, I'm sorry to the kids for the heart break I know they're feeling right now. Congrats to Central. Also confirms that, like I previously said, the west alignment is far superior to that of the east alignment in 3A. I remember a guy, Pirate1991, saying no one in the west could beat Bourbon or Breathitt by 3 scores and Belfry was 3 scores better than anyone in the west. Breathitt and Bourbon were frauds from the beginning and didn't play anyone, it showed when they played a someone in Belfry. The east is a cakewalk and will continue to be in my eyes. Congrats to Central on this one, and congrats to Belfry on the continued consistency of the program. Maybe next year.

Then until somebody beats them I wouldn't exactly call them equal . A rivalry means the other team wins sometimes, I'm not ragging on Belfry either they played a good game, but you've got to get a win to be considered a rivalry
