1. Belfry- The Pirates would trade a #1 3A ranking any day, but a super impressive run to end the season featured wins vs. Johnson Central and a pair of previously undefeated teams in Bourbon County and Breathitt County before being an extra point away from being 3A State Champs.
2. Harlan County- The Black Bears were a couple plays away from their inaugural State Championship debut. A close Semi-Final loss to a solid Cooper team is nothing to be down about.
3. Bell County- The Bobcats had Central where they wanted them, but could not finish them out on Log Mountain.
4. Knox Central- The Panthers run came to a halt on Clays Mill Road, but regular season wins against Johnson Central and Harlan County keep them in the mix.
t5. Ashland/Johnson Central- Perhaps the best game in EKY this year stands to notice how equal these teams were. Similar fates to the NKY 4A powerhouses further confirms it.

With all due respect those two teams tied for 5th probably would beat the Eagles by 4-5 TD.
Had they shown they could play up against quality larger schools there could have been a case..as it stands their entire resume is predicated on beating a Hazard team without their QB and getting a running clock put on them by Mayfield.

^ The rankings say EASTERN Kentucky. Fairview is located in Eastern Kentucky, you can't get more Eastern Kentucky than Fairview.

They are so far east some would consider them Western West Virginia or even South Eastern Ohio. Haha I had to say it.

The thing is all 6 teams listed were equal. Ashland beating belfry and belfry beating JC and JC beating Ashland. Bell Harlan and Knox are all also quality. A round robin style schedule with these teams would have been alot of fun.
