Dale Jr. to Drive #3
#1
Does anyone like to here this news and what do you think of it??

Jr.: I expect to drive the 3 car....
"I'll drive the No. 3 car toward the end of my career if I've done what I wanted to do at DEI, and that's win championships and win races," Earnhardt said. "And I'll stick around as long as it takes to do it."

Earnhardt's devotion to Dale Earnhardt, Inc. has never been stronger. The want to see his father's vision through to fruition has fostered a new, sharper focus.

If and when that happens, if and when DEI becomes self-sufficient and no longer requires Junior's presence for perceived legitimacy, if and when Junior hoists the Nextel Cup under the DEI banner, he'll park the 8 and head to RCR to write the final chapter of his father's legacy.
For many that is necessary. For some members of the Earnhardt family, and for many of Dale Earnhardt's lifelong friends inside racing and out, closure won't come until the 3 screams down the superstretch at Daytona.

With Junior at the wheel.

But this isn't about Junior. It's not about the fans. It's not about NASCAR marketing hoopla.

It's about the passion with which Dale Earnhardt and his boys competed. It's about racing -- hell-bent, pedal to the mat racing.

"It'd be good for guys like Will Lind, guys that spent a lot of time with my Dad in his racing career," Junior said. "If I ever drove the 3, it'd have nothing to do with my personal feelings. It'd be all racing.

"It'd be all about going out on the track with the 3, with an Earnhardt behind the wheel, putting a smile on Chocolate (Myers') face and Richard's face and those guys he spent so much time with for so many years.

Well--if this article is right--then Dale Jr. will never use the 3.

He will not win any championships. He may win some more races--but nothing of any real importance.

I believe he could be driven enough after last year to win the Championship in 2006.:champ: :champ: :champ: :champ:

I see your point--and it makes good sense.

My argument revolves around the fact that he just isn't talented enough to get the job done.

Having Tony Eure Jr. back definitely helps him. But DEI is behind the times when it comes to intermediate and short track equipment (and their speedway program is not as solid as it once was). And the truth of the matter is this--Jr. has only been successful on restrictor plate tracks. (I know he has a few wins at other places). And restrictor plate racing is just as much luck of the draw as it is driving talent.

I just don't think he has the talent or the temperment that some of the other drivers have.

I'm sure Dale Jr. will win some Championships...

Me 2 and i think he is pretty talented or he would;t be on the track with the big boys........
#7
I like JR but I don't think the same passion was handed down from SR. Jr has the talent but he doesn't has the "old man's" passion or sheer will to win.
#8
u watch he will win it all............
#9
Jr will never win any championships, he might be lucky enough to crack the chase for the cup a time or two, but he'll never do what his punk daddy did seven times. Jr. is the most overrated driver in nascar, EVER. Put him on a track where you have to drive less than a mile and he's had. Just like Toyota's own, MIKEY WALTRIP.
#10
I agree Hoss!
#11
i think i need to be slapped so i can wake up ----- some people actually stating something other than fan bandwagon jumping about dale jr. ... thanks ...hillbilly, playboy and tides
#12
Dale Jr will win some championships.........He's the man.....
#13
I think he would be the only person I would want to see in the #3 car...
#14
From what everyone in Nascar is saying this past couple of weeks DEI has never looked better. Not just JR. but the entire team. They also seem more focused and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Jr win it all.
#15
i think it should be his decision if he wants 2 drive the #3 car because it was his dad
#16
yeah but i don;t think he will for that reason
#17
He will drive it when he is at the absolute rock bottom so everyone can say that Jr is reborn, he is drivin' dale's car. Gosh all of this Jr.-Sr. crap gets old! Who care's. Fans, there is no more Sr. Time to deal with the obvious as bad as it is. Jr. is average and stats don't lie. He is where he is because of his dad because he got put into the best possible position. Any person who can drive a stick can win as many races that Jr. has won because he has as good equipment as the best. NASCAR has to try to take care of it's face. I am no Gordon fan but Jr. can't hold his you know what! And this all is REALITY so LIVE WITH IT!

Dale Jr has, and always will, lived by the accomplishments of his late father....I never was a Sr. fan, but I always respected the way that he raced his hardest each week....I think it hurt NASCAR when Sr's death hit, but there were 42 other drivers that had to move on and show up at the track the next week...I think that Jr just rode the coat-tails of Sr's supporters, not to mention Sr's top-of-the-line equipment and staff, to what success he has had so far. I think that Jr should let his father's memory stay with the "3" and that he should try to make his own name in the sport with the "8", which has shown his lack of talent the past year or so since everyone has finally caught up with DEI's packages. Let the memory lie, Jr, and don't use it as a last-ditch attempt to gain a re-birth of your career.
#22
It'd be nice to see him in the 3 car.

that may be the greatest post of all time. I couldn't have said it any better myself, lol. Keep it up playboy.:thumb:

Junior wants away from DEI because he knows right now that with Truex coming in fulltime, Junior won't even be the number one driver in his own garage, and well, as bad as i hate to admit it, nobody should ever drive the number 3 car again, as well as i dont think anybody should have driven the number 43 car after The King retired, but thats that. I agree with Smoke. Jr. should create his own legacy (of finishing somewhere between #15 thru #30 at seasons end) in the number 8 car. And even if he did drive 3, he would have to do it all on his own, because he's proven in the past that he cant work with anybody. So he's gonna sweet talk Childress into letting him get into his daddy's car. Hopefully Childress won't listen, because #3, love it or hate it, should be and stay retired.

For once, I actually agree with some of the things that you have posted, Hoss. But on a little bit of a different angle.

I think he hates Theresa with a passion. So, the best way to **** her off is to talk about driving the 3 (because it is an indirect slap in the face for her--because he is going to have to leave DEI to drive it).

I think really think that he wants to leave--but I do think that he wants to give Theresa issues for whatever reason. I am also under the opinion that it really won't make a difference if he leaves or not--he isn't going to win any championships. He doesn't have the talent and he definitely doesn't have the desire.

My thinking is that, if he was going to drive the 3--he would have done so already.
#26
lol, well I guess thats a start:thumb: . I think for the most part, we do agree on Junior. Like i said earlier, i do agree with a lot of what you have to say. And you are exactly right about talent. He doesnt have the talent or the desire to win championships. He's good for a win a year, at Talledega or Daytona, no less, but he'll never be championship material.

Finally I am seeing a truce. Hug and make up, lol!
#28
I would love to see Dale Jr. drive #3. In respect to his father. I think he should carry on the tradition.
#29
I dont think Jr. should drive the #3 because no1 drove it like Sr.
#30
He is lucky that NASCAR is an alcohol type sport, easy to root for Dale Sr's son first of all and then who drives the Budweiser car when everyone can see the typical nascar fan hold up his Budweiser can as Dale Jr. goes around the track. I mean would it be any other way. Throw Junior in the Lysol car and change his last name and he would be another Carl Long!
