#1
I'd like to invite everybody out on Saturday, August 31st, Sunday, September 1st and Labor Day Monday, September 2nd to the Breaks Interstate Park Tri-State Gospel Singing.

Located at the park amphitheater. There is plenty of parking ans seating, close restrooms, concession stands and a full restaurant at the Rhododendron Lodge & Conference Center. There are picnic areas, playgrounds for kids.

There will be congregational singing and preaching all three mornings staring at 9 AM.

The main singing will start at 10 AM and go until whenever the Lord is done.

I grew up going to this singing. From the time I was about 7 until present day.... Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day Monday were spent at The Breaks. This is the 64th year of having the Breaks Labor Day singing.

The first time we went, my dad wasn't saved. He was sitting to the left of the stage. The Lord started dealing with him while the Primitive Quartet was up singing. Dad said it felt like his feet were pulled down in the cement and he couldn't move. That was in September. In October the same year, he was saved.

Mom, Dad and one of my Aunt and Uncle's had a singing group. They been going to the Breaks for sometime now... there dream was to sing at the Breaks. They would go up early on Friday and set our chairs up. Then go up on stage and sing a song just to say they got to sing on the Breaks stage.

About 3 years past that, I never will forget this. Sunday morning, we were getting ready for church. The phone rings and my dad's face looses color. He has to sit down... he can't hardly speak. He goes into the bedroom and closes the door. About 30 minutes later mom and dad come out and tell us they are gonna be singing at the Breaks. We thought we had just been given the key to Ft. Knox.

From that year on... mom and dad's group sang every year at the Breaks. Then in 2006, the lady who had been over it for more than 35 years retires. There was a meeting held with some of the local preachers and older singers who'd been coming there for many years. Guess who was chose to take over...... my dad.

From going there lost, then dreaming of getting to sing there just one time. Then being a staple of the singing for more than 10 years. To being ask to take over the singing operation.... The Breaks gospel sing has been in my life for as long as I can remember.

We wait all year..... and I mean all year. I schedule one of my vacation weeks around the Breaks Labor Day sing. There is something that words can't explain. You just have to be there. The sites, the sounds, the outdoors smells, the people..... there is nothing like the Breaks.

I'll post a list of the singers when I get home.

There is no admission for the singing, but there is a fee to enter the park. I think it's $1 per car.

Each day, there is a love offering collected and distrubted among the groups.

This singing is not to raise money. It's to have a good time in The Lord and see somebody saved.

Psalms ch. 149 (KJV)
1 - Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints.
3 - Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp.

Psalms ch. 150 (KJV)
1 - Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His power.
2 - Praise Him for his mighty acts: praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
3 - Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery and harp.
4 - Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 - Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 - Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

The Bible tells us that we are to praise Him through song and music. And trust me, you'll hear the best gospel music in the country over these three days. Not because the talent is any better there than anywhere else... but because the singers at the Breaks WANT to be there.
