KC is very overrated this year, atleast from what was expected.
HC will be mad, and thats not good for KC.
I don't know what you expected but everybody around here knew we are in a little bit of a rebuilding mode. We are only playing 3 or4 seniors trying to play a freshman at quarterback. After Gist and Barger all of our playmakers are freshman and sophomores. So I think we have build a nice little program when you are rebuilding and setting 3-0 with a chance to win 7 or 8 games this year. Our quarterback has a chance to be one of the best that Knox has ever produced. So don't be worrying to much about knox, even if we take a licking Friday night we still got plenty to look forward to.

Your 100% right!! It's hard for a team to only play 3 seniors and still win. Then bulk of our player our jr and soph. But to play as bad as we are and still be undefeated speaks volumes on how could this team will be in time..

The only ones that have said KC is overrated is the people who have no clue what this team had coming back.. Any one who knows anything about panther football knew this was going to be a year of growing pains.. Yes we have struggled in a couple games this year. But yet we are still undefeated. Are we going to go undefeated?? No way we will lose a few games.. But to whom I don't know.. Harlan county may very beat both our eyes shut!! But I will promiss you this. The panthers will not quit not will they just rollover and give up.
They will play as hard on last snap as they do on the first..
For the black bears to win this game they will have to earn it. Cause the panthers are not going to just lay down and say here its yours..when it is all said and done both teams are going to know that they where just in war..

Yep, this game will be earned by the victor; no doubt about it. KC has a whole different line up this time, and from what I saw on Saturday, it's clicking on all cylinders!
Still think my Black Bears will pull it out!!
Fight hard Bears!!

The Pirates must have also taken my Internet when they left Harlan County. Grateful though I couldn't have dealt with much.
I'm hearing some Black Bears are stepping up vocally and I think they will be focused this week!

Knox Central's ability to keep this close begins and ends with their ability/inability to hurt Harlan County outside or with the threat of the pass early in the game.
Belfry's offense made HC's defense look a lot more vulnerable than it really is, but noone this side of I-75 has the skill players that Belfry has. HC was unable to focus on a single key point to stop Belfry and the threat of the pass, the option, the super talented FB, and Belfry's lightning quick HB. This eventually left HC in a guessing game and that's when the yardage accumulated in a hurry.
Gist is a darn fine RB, but if KC can't stretch the Bears to the sideline and loosen up their LB's then he will struggle to gain 100 yards. I think the single greatest weakness HC has this year is they are not an especially fast or overly athletic team. They are vulnerable outside to a team who has the threat of balance. Unfortunately, I don't see KC having the team speed to do this, nor the quickness up front on defense to contain the Black Bear running attack.

Harlan Co wins 35-21.

The new wrinkles will help to a point. We must play mistake free and put two halves together. We will be the underdog...but..upset in the making 28-27

I have seen both teams play this year and do not see this game being close. Harlan County will be to much for the Panthers.

Knox Central 14

Gotta defend my Blackcats here. Prestonsburg is young this year, and may not be the team you seen just a very short time ago (not counting last years drubbing by the Pirates lol) kick some Pirate butt. I will say these boys do have some fight in them, and as you Pirate fans say, will get better as the year goes on and will be one tough out come playoffs.

Where did the Reed kid come form Friday?
Week 0 it was Frasure and Jerrell vs. The World... Reed is exactly what Pburg needs... that playmaker at WR.

I do agree the key for the panthers to win this is they have to stretch the field. Can't just rely on the run it up the middle. HC is just to strong in the middle. KC has to hit the edges and some down field passes. That might open the middle up some. If they don't do this its going to be a very long night for the panthers.
Belfry showed the blueprint on how to beat HC. Now it's up to KC to follow that blueprint to the letter to win this. Have to keep fresh legs in there as much as they can.

This kid has everything you need to be a great high school quarterback. He need to take some of the load off of Gist he has at least 30 carries the last two. You know Harlan Co is going and try to take the run away. Coach Russell had a great gameplan last year against them, and Knox played there best game of the year.

Well i haven't said to much on this game, for one i've been busy, but anyway, I said earlier in the thread HC wins 35-14, after looking and reading some, i'm changing that to 42-14 and the last 7 pts KC scores will be on HC reserves..The reasoning is simple, HC is at home, they are embarrassed, they are mad. While Belfry did show a way to beat HC last week, KC won't be able to duplicate it, they will have a big play or two because HC always manages to give up a big play or two, but KC is not Belfry, No disrespect meant toward anyone or any team but truth is truth. HC will blow the doors wide open, and this game won't be close...This is just my opinion, and not any other HC fans opinions..Like i said 42-14...

I don't think HC is embarrassed. If so they shouldn't be. They simply got beat by a better team.

Moving Barger to QB was a good answer for 1 game but now everyone has seen it. That will give HC time to work on it and they will be ready. Besides Barger and Gist KC has no other weapons.
HC 28
KC 7
HC 28
KC 7

The Panthers will play better than they did in the grid but it will not be enough.

Does Barger get the start at quarterback again? If so does the freshman get any snaps?

I would say Barger will be the Qb the rest of the year. If last weeks game was any indication then I would say no. But who knows.

I think he will be. Diamond may get some reps against some of the weaker teams. He played JV monday also to get some PT.

Almost time, I hope the Black Bears are focused! They need to play tough and stay tough!

Its a bad time for Knox to play Harlan County. They will be hungry after the loss. Judging by scores so far I don't believe Knox has the defense to beat Harlan Co. At the same time I don't think the score will be anything like the scrimmage they had.
09-12-2013, 08:49 PM
I think what you saw last week is what you see the rest of the year. May be some Gist in the wildcat with the two freshmen in the backfield with him.
