Lawrence County comes in at 6-2. Wins over; Boyd County 56-15, Rowan County 20-27, Breathitt County 48-26, East Carter 66-33, Raceland 38-35, Sheldon Clark 51-20. Losses to; Fairview 35-21, Pike Central 26-20.
Bulldogs come in averaging 43.7 points a game while giving up 27.1 a game.
Belfry comes in at 7-0. Wins over; Somerset 37-12, Harlan County 21-12, Southwestern 38-27, Pikeville 56-20, Sheldon Clark 49-6, Gallia Academy OH 41-19, Knoxville Christian-Academy TN 27-21.
Pirates come in averaging 38.4 points a game while giving up 16.7 a game.

I get cracked up at some of the predictions that people make (lol)
Heck some people got us going down by more then Belfry beat us by last year.
I don't think this Belfry team is as good as last year and this Bulldog team is way better then they were last year. Is Belfry the favorite........yes and they should be, but I dont think they will put a running clock on us by the half.
It is taking some longer than others to see how bad mountain football is down this year and a win on a team from last year means nothing this year. I still don't think Belfry has played a team yet this year that is good enough to expose the youth on that team but we will see. I say Belfry 42-21.
I think some people could be eating some crow next week or it could be me eating the crow, but you need to take a close look at the teams Belfry has played this year and look at how they are all struggling. I believe the Belfry team of last year would put a running clock, or close to it on every team they have played this year. The Lawrence defense will have problems with the Belfry offense but we can put up some points also. This Bulldog team has had a problem this year of starting games out slow and I don't think we have put a full 4 quarter game together playing to our potential, but this would be the perfect game to do it.

Well heck then why are we even playing this season in 3a this year. No one else has got a chance. Belfry went to state last year so they are going to win it all this year. We probably better just tell Corbin, Wayne County, Central and Bourbon County to pack it up and go home so they don't get humiliated!

Because the Khsaa says you are in our district and we have to play...I'm sayin we are so far head in our district that we can honestly show up with JV and win....and you guys know it....I really hate it for east ridge the worst...if they wouldve stayed in district play they would be a 2 seed...

The LC defense is hurting without having #9 on the field. They are a whole different team when he is out there. If he plays Friday, i think it stays close.

What is the huge win over a good legitimate team that you are basing all of this off of. Belfry aint played a solid top 5 or 3 team yet this year and you guys know that. I know you love your team as I do mine but you need to come down to reality just a bit. I believe if you line this Belfry team up against the Belfry team of last year the team from last year would win by 2 or more scores and don't even try and tell me that this defense is as good as the last 2 years. I hope a lot of people are not still hanging their hats on that Harlan County win because I got to see that team in person and I think Lawrence could beat that team also, but some people would like to think that the fact that Harlan didn't know how bad they were yet is the only reason that the stayed in the game and gave Belfry all they wanted lol.

I lol'd so hard on this one. Lawrence was down pretty bad last year and we still made East Ridge look like they were a youth league team. 49-6 I think the score was in that game.

Isn't Belfry coming off of a victory over Tennessee's defending 3A state champs? Not to mention they where without several starters in this game as well.

Dude really listen to yourself...you guys got beat by a 1A school...there isn't a 1A or 2A school in the state that can beat Belfry...and no you couldn't beat Harlan County..You just got beat by Pike Central...lol...listen....Pike Central....And lets compare LC if they played our schedule.

I think it has been stated by a few people including a few posters from Tennessee that this team was just a shell of the championship team from last year.

If we went 0-14 and beat one team I'd be happy.
That team would be Louisville Central. That team that barely got beat beat by Manual, who lost to Trinity 38-30. Yeah, that team. This tremendous schedule the Pirates have played (on paper) has given our fans a false sense of security. Most of the teams haven't been as advertised.
But what I see out of this team is piss poor tackling on D and an offense that looks great and times and flutters at the most inopportune moments. Hardly a sign of maturity or a team that can bring home a title.

All year long we have tried to gage ourselves on the big question of "What kind of team we really have"?...each week when we win there is always a reason why we beat that team, they are down, they had injuries, they are only 1 A, etc. Come this week one or other we get the real test. We we'll know without a doubt where we stand in 3A football. We will either be better than expected, be good but needing work over off season or not even close to being there and living in a fantasy world. Like I said in another post before, I just hope that both teams have all they players healthy, I hope the reffs call an even game, I just don't want any excuses once the game is over. As for a prediction well as much as I want my Dawgs to win I still think we'll fall short, we have made a lot of mistakes in past few weeks that we are not seeming to correct, plus we can not come out and play only half a game against a team like Belfry, therefore I predict Belfry by 20......but still hoping, cheering, yelling screaming for the Dawgs by 6!!

Dude I'm not saying that you don't have a good team and program because you do and I think every team in the Mountains should strive to build their program like yours. I also know that you will beat the Bulldogs but to sit here and say that this team is better then last year (a team that went to state and just about beat Central) with nothing to base it on is just silly. IMO opinion to think that you will put up a running clock by the half and put the jv in the whole 2nd half on a much improved Bulldog team is also silly. You beat us pretty bad last year and you know that we were down bad last year and you know we are way better this year. I could be wrong and we could have a bad game and let the score get out of control but I don't see that happening. I could be dead wrong and you might be better then last year and you might go to Bowling Green and win it all. After you play a team like a Corbin or Wayne County, or someone like that then we will have a better idea of what you can do. I would say that you expected some of the teams on your schedule to be better then they were this year and there's nothing you can do about that but just hold all the greatness talk for this team this year until you prove it. I think the best game on your schedule this year is Johnson Central and I believe that they have a very legitimate shot at Bowling Green this year and if you can beat them then I will bow down to the master but JC hasen't played a real good team yet either and the JC fans will admit it. I believe that this Bulldog team and this Pike Central team both are a lot better and way better then last year then you want to give credit for and neither will just lay down because your name is Belfry. You wont go to Bowling Green and bring home the hardware just because your name is Belfry either.
I have to say that last years team and this years team is real close with edge going to this years team. You have no idea what you are saying about belfry when you say we have nothing to base that off of. This team is full of talent and is deep on the depth chart. We proved that this past Friday. We have 6-7 starters that are freshman. Not many teams do that. So that's one reason. After most starters were injured our reserves stepped up big against a team that most likely would have beaten LC handily. I used to live in LC and I will say this. It's a different breed of football here in Pike Co. than what it is down there. Yeah you all had a few good years in the West Era but that time is over. Belfry is good and you can ask the opposing team fans. Most say they have never seen a team like us. We are quick on both sides of the ball and what seniors we do have are HUNGRY!!! LC is just another notch before JC. BELFRY 48-13.

the biggest difference in belfry and lc right now is lc ls learning how to win and belfry knows how to win. Lc has a good young team but belfry has a great program. Haywood is classy and won't run the score up if he can help it. Lc has been in every game this year they have not faced a team they could not have beaten. Belfry is a whole different story lc would have to play a perfect game and belfry would have to make a few mistakes. Belfry 45 lc 21
