Lawrence County at Belfry 10/18
#31
- Belfry is better at this point in the season than they were in 2012
- Belfry at this point in the season is not better than the 2012 team who finished the year
- Lawrence County at this point in the season is better than where their 2012 team finished
- If Lawrence Co turns it over like Friday then Belfry WILL have a running clock by Halftime
- I think LC's defense has digressed from last year but their offense is much better
- Harlan County would beat Lawrence County by 3-4 TD's
- Lawrence County has played two 1A teams and proven to be an equal team.. Belfry played one 1A team who appears to be slightly better than either Raceland or Fairview and destroyed them.

Belfry 49
Lawrence Co 20 (with one score coming in trash time)

I think all these Bulldog fans are kidding themselves!! After getting bear by Pike Central they still think they are going to go to pond creek and compete?!? No way!! D-O-double -gig is not going to be convinced. He admits LC hasn't put together a compete game all season but thinks they are might get it together at pond creek!! That is not the place to try and get things rolling. He is being completely unhonest if he says he doesn't think Belfry would be undefeated, and by a long shot, if Belfry played LC's schedule. Because Belfry has played a harder schedule and they are undefeated. Not sure how he can talk about Belfry not playing anyone after comparing schedules!!

I like last years Belfry team over this version. This version is loaded with young talent but Ghormley, Messer, Mullins, Thacker, Robinson, Jude, Taylor, etc.

You would be hard pressed to say any of the above players replacement is better.

Just IMHO. This team is making me a believer though and so many guys are contributing. It is very exciting.

Not a bold statement..A true statement...What three teams are you thinking of...cause All the ones I have seen cannot...

I agree those guys are good....but the replacements on the O line have stepped up and played just as good as last years line...same backfield and same productivity....

I would love to see the Bulldogs win because I really like Coach Cecil, but I don't see it happening.

I think a lot of people on BGR fail to read a full post before they jump to conclusions. If you look, my prediction was 42-21 Belfry. I never said that Lawrence County was at the level to beat Belfry yet. All I am saying is that people are sounding like they are crowning Belfry as 3a champs.
I don't understand how you can say a young team is better(on the field) then a team who just went to state when this young team has had some close games against teams who I think last years team would destroy. Name me a team who Belfry has played this year that are better then any of the frunt runners of 3a like Central, Wayne County, Corbin. IMO those three teams are better then any team you have faced this year. I have only heard one Belfry poster admit that your schedule has turned out to be way less then what you were thinking in the preseason. Can Lawrence County beat Belfry this year, no not even close, but I do not believe that this Belfry team can get a running clock in the 1st half and have the JV in for the second half on this Lawrence County team. The only teams who have jumped out and put us in a big hole quick were teams who can pass pretty good and I would say that Belfry is just about 90% run. If I am wrong I will be right here to eat my crow because I have become a BGR regular. I'm not one of the lot of fans who have been a BGR member for years but only have like 100 posts and only come out when my team is winning or hide when I am proven wrong. After this game is over I will be rooting for Belfry for the rest of the season and I hope they do win a championship and represent district 8 and the Mountains.

I like you EKU and I think you are one of the better posters on BGR. I agree with most of what you said with one big exception. I was at the Johnson Central-Harlan County game and maybe the Harlan County team that Belfry played was Harlan County Florida or something but the Harlan Coutny team that I saw that night was awful. I have never been to a game in my life that was supposed to be a good game that one team dominated like JC did. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that the score of this game cant even begin to reflect how much better JC was then HC. JC let off the gas after the half and was running some new plays and getting some kids some play time for down the road or this score could have easily been 60-14 IMO. I wont even say for sure that we could beat Harlan county but I believe that we could play with em and on that night I think we could beat em. No offense to the Harlan County fans who read this because I like you and got to meet some of you and I love Granny Bear but they will even tell you that they were awful in that game and JC was way better.

Mayfield, DeSales and Caldwell County would give Belfry all they wanted. But Lawrence County is not as good as any of the above. Lawrence County is comparable to Pikeville and Fairview. Looking at scores Belfry wins easily.

The Harlan County team that turned the ball over like they did that night would have struggled with a lot of teams. The Harlan County team who played Belfry and most other teams on their schedule who actually did a fairly good job of protecting the football is the 4th best team in EKY.

Turnovers are the great equalizer...especially red zone turnovers. I still feel that LC is a better team than PC, but when you turn it over 5 times the entire complexion of a game can change.

I went to the UGA vs. Mizzou game Saturday and the one key play game in the game was turnover Georgia had at the end of the Half inside the Mizzou ten yard line. Trailing 21-10 Georgia had marched it down the field and appeared to be on the verge of closing the gap before the Half. Instead they fumbled and Mizzou scored on the ensuing drive before Halftime. Georgia entered the Half trailing 28-10 when it should have been 21-17. Georgia then had to spend the entire 2nd Half trying to make up for points lost and the entire mental aspect of the game had changed.

A turnover at Midfield or even in your own territory is one thing as it may mean -7 points..but when you turn it over in the redzone more times than not that becomes a -14 play and HC had a couple of those against JC. Now this is not to take anything away from JC as they were clearly a better team and were going to put the smack down regardless...but those redzone turnovers did make HC look a lot worse than they really were.

Belfry in this one. Lawrence County just isn't on this level yet.

I would love to cuss you and say what a dirty liar you are....one problem. You are 100% spot on.

I didn't offer excuses for that game, and I'm not here to do that now. Offering excuses is just another way of saying the other team didn't deserve the win, and that is NOT the case. However, I will say that the JC game was our worst so far, and there were reasons behind it. Nuff said!!

I do want to say though, that the HC team that played JC was not the same team that played Belfry earlier in the year. Thankfully, we are almost back to that level, and are going forward with every game.

(I love you too do-double-gg!!)

Running Clock
#55
lc needs to protect the football or belfry will have a running clock by half.
#56
I have seen stranger things happen. But there is no chance if LC plays the way they have the last couple of weeks. And everyone can run at the hole under their nose but didn't Belfry the year they won it couple years back just beat LC by one point or something? So go ahead be cocky sooner or later it will catch up to you.

Any updates from Belfry folks on who is healthy and back to play LC this week?
#60
We are decent but we would not dominate mayfield, desales, and some other teams in one and two a as some proclaim.
