Franklin County @ Anderson County 10/18
#1
Franklin County(8-0) will make the short trip to Lawrenceburg to battle Anderson County(6-1) in what I believe is one of the more intriguing games of the week. Who wins and why?
#2
I believe Anderson County takes down Franklin County giving them their loss of the season. It should be a close hard fought game.
#3
I'm taking Anderson county in a close one. No Timmons miracles this year.
#4
FC goes down this year, no Timmons around to save them as there was last year. FCHS has not had any tests like they will Friday Night. Anderson owes them big. I may have to go to this game and skip the Mercer game.
#5
Wow no respect for the Flyers, Were they just a one man show last year? So far this year I have been surprised by this FCHS teams, many thought they would be a mediocre team this year. So far they are undefeated, and have some decent wins under their belt. Intriguing game for sure I will go with my Flyers. But I love the underdog role.

Boyel you guys have played Anderson what do us FC fans need to know?
#7
FC, has not beat anyone the caliber of Anderson County. They are bigger and probably just as fast at the Flyers, Cox will have a big night. Anderson is good enough on defense to stop the Flyers as well.
#8
Flyers win. Roberts runs wild.
#9
Going to be a battle I think, we will find out if FCHS is real...They already got those finals rings ordered in Lawrenceburg.
#10
Don't know about any finals rings but they have been looking to this game since this time last year when they got robbed of a victory.

The Bearcat defense clamped down on West Jessamine's Devin Taylor, limiting the state's leading rusher to 81 yards on the ground as the hosts registered a 24-6 district win in football action.

Taylor came into the game averaging 256 yards a game and was also the leading scorer in Class 5A, averaging 18 points a game. He did not find the end zone Friday night.

“We challenged the kids this week and they had a great game,” Anderson coach Mark Peach said. “The big thing is they did it together.”

With the victory, Peach won his 69th game as Anderson head coach, tying Anthony Hatchell (1988-1997) for the most in Anderson history. Peach is 69-32 in nine seasons at Anderson.

Anderson won despite having what amounted to one possession in the first half. Zachary Carmichael scored from a yard out to cap a 95-yard march that took up 6:32. That was the only time Anderson had the ball before stopping West Jessamine on downs with 30 seconds left in the first half.

“We knew West Jessamine was capable of doing that,” Peach said of the Colts' second quarter drive that lasted almost 11 minutes but came up empty.

Anderson took control when Carmichael hit Chris Toomey for a 12-yard touchdown to punctuate the first drive of the second half, then put things out of reach when Ross Cox scored from two yards out to complete a 97-yard scoring drive.

Cox, who might give Taylor some competition as the Class 5A, District 6 Player of the Year, finished with 89 yards rushing and caught three passes for 42 yards. Cox was also credited with 4.5 tackles.

Landon Searcy led the Anderson defense with six tackles, including one for a loss.

Anderson, now 6-1 on the year, will host unbeaten Franklin County (8-0) for the District 6 championship next Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Roberts who???? Look like the best players in this district reside in Lawrenceburg and West Jessamine County!!!

Bearcats. I don't know why. I just like the word/ animal Bearcat. Plus until someone explain to me what a Flyer is, then I might change my mind.

Anderson is a scrappy team that plays through the whistle. They are very disciplined on both sides of the ball. I really like Ashburn and Cox for the bearcats. They are tough kids. It's going to be a tough night for Franklin County because this will be the best team they have faced. With that said, I do think the Flyers will keep it close and that will give them a very good chance to beat Anderson County. But I'm taking Anderson County by a score. Just a gut feeling!

By the way, that's no disrespect to Franklin County. Obviously they are doing something right to be undefeated. But something tells me Anderson County is the better team.

Anderson had one break down last year against FC. It cost us the game. Our team is more fundamentally sound, we play as a team. Woodside was a bigger loss then Timmons, everybody in Anderson County knew he was good. FC is weak at QB and no longer has break away speed.
#17
Not sure if everyone knew how good Woodside was, coach Peach wouldnt play him at QB.
#18
Well Timmons and Woodside are gone and here sits FC who has no fundamentals and doesn't play as a team! Look out boys!
#19
Cooper exposed how poor FC is fundamentally. Fundamentals are taught, ironically the coaching staff from last year is still in place. I will take the bearcats in this game.

You sound bitter. No one is knocking Franklin County. If you don't like that somebody chooses against your team then thats ok, but to be bitter, come on man. Franklin County is a good team but Anderson County will be the best team they have faced. Lets see how they do. Could be a dandy!
#21
Not bitter your comments were good but this other stuff is motivation my son sees it as fuel for the long practice week!
Hope that FC can pull aeon out of the hat! Hope it is a dandy!
#22
The difference is Anderson is a more physical and tough team, and FC has the speed edge but not by a whole lot. Comes down to the fundamentals we will see Anderson looks to be the favorite though.
#23
I will have to take Franklin Coumty in a close one. Franklin County seems to be the underdog this year, but it seems they have been the underdog every time these two teams have played. I believe Franklin county is a lot more physical than anyone is giving them credit for, especially with Roberts in the back field, he alone is 260lbs and is very quick for his size. After seeing them play several times this year, I am seeing that they are a much more rounded team than in the last few years, there line is hungry, and it even seems that there defence is looking a lot better. This will be a great game. I just hope that both teams can play and not clear the benches. This will be a good one, everyone should come out.
#24
You can have Fundamentals.

Give me Jimmy and Joe! Franklin has more Jimmy's and Joe's
#25
Can't wait to watch this game. Should be a great one. I'm gonna take FC right now.
#26
Franklin County does not have the Jimmy and Jo advantage this time around, they are small up front, and mid sized most places ANDERSON IS HUGE, they will toss FCHS around. Cox is as fast as anyone FC has. I think Franklin County does have a good running back with size but he can not do it alone.
#27
I do think it will be a good game does anyone know how many people start both ways for each team I know FCHS has quite a few kids doing both sides of the ball.
#28
Well these FC boys have been good enough so far, maybe the played no one maybe they are small or "mid-sized" but they have been a part of some wins in their day and maybe along the way this old raggedy staff has taught them some fundamentals, They have enough to get the job done if they make the deciscion to do it!!!! LETS GO!!!
#29
Boys were popping pads in Frankfort last night, hope thats a good sign, Anderson still leads in the poll, AP polls had AC #3, FC #4.
#30
I think the deciding factor is if the Hurst kid plays. He might be the best offensive player (only a Sophomore) on FCHS. Unfortunately he has battled injuries all year and hasn't really played. Vs West Jess he had 3 touches for 120 yards and 2 TDs before getting hurt, he is explosive but if he is still hurt I think it hurts FCHS. Plus Anderson is fundamentally sound, always has been.
