Johnson Central vs. Ashland updates
#31
FreightShaKer Wrote:Central needs to step it up! I'm expecting a running clock by 3rd

We're gonna have to get the ball away from them for that to happen.

And that currently is NOT happening.
#32
Ashland with a QB keeper on 4th and 6 with 3:05 to go.

Sounds like they got a favorable Putnam spot...first down at the JC 21.

We're not making things happen right now.
#33
First and goal at the JC 9.
#34
This is nearing a 10 minute drive.
#35
Ashland passing very much?
#36
HUGE stand to end the half. Ashland pass toward the endzone falls incomplete on the final play of the half.

Ashland holds the ball for 11:24 and comes up with NOTHING. Wow.

JC, 14-0 at halftime. Eagle ball coming up at the half. A 21 play, 77 yard, 11:24 drive. With nothing.
#37
Ashland drive stalls at the JC 3 yard line as time expires
#38
They're passing, yes, but not very well. Other than the screen pass to Baker, I can't recall another completion right off hand.
#39
Any turnovers for jc?
#40
We put in the ground once but got it back. So not thus far, I don't think. We went for it from midfield on a fake punt and didn't get it, but that's the only real screw up on offense.

Ashland lost one fumble by Baker than I remember. Neither team with an INT.
#41
Central's defense on Baker has been quite good. They've not had really any huge plays to speak of, beyond that screen pass that started the long drive. I'm waiting to hear the halftime numbers, but I'll be shocked if he has 60 yards on the ground. They've been getting us with their other backs and the QB keeper for 4-5 yards at a time.
#42
Ashland radio has Baker with 14 carries for 32 yards. Wow.
#43
JC returns the opening kickoff to their own 22, and here we go. Finish strong, guys.
#44
32 Yards for Baker in first half? Wow good defense. Is he the lead rusher?
#45
We came out throwing and got exactly what we deserved.

Pass broken up on 2nd-9, then broken up again and picked up by McGranahan. Returned to the 41 and then a personal foul. 1st down Ashland at the JC 26. Just stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
#46
Shew
#47
30 yard TD run for Quentin Baker. Wesley's extra point good.

14-7, JC. Better wake up, black, you boys are absolutely sleepwalking.
#48
What is up with centrals defense?
#49
Thank you, baby Jesus. Bryce Workman answers with a 75 yard kickoff return!

Pack's kick good. 21-7, JC, just like that! 10:20 in the 3rd.

That'll rip your soul out. Now let's GO.
#50
KO Return for a TD 21-7 JC
#51
What happened to our defense on that series was we gave them a 26 yard field with a turnover and a dumb personal foul penalty. We can't do that to anybody.
#52
Central forces a 4th and 5 at the Ashland 39. Should be a punt coming.
#53
1st and 10 Golden Eagles at their own 28 after a punt fair catch. Still 21-7.
#54
6:30 to go in the 3rd. JC driving, near midfield. Called first time out.
#55
Now let's roll
#56
Two big carries for Dillon and the Eagles are in the red zone...
#57
Jordan Young into the endzone for the touchdown from seven yards!
#58
Fine calling of the game Diogenes
#59
Central goes for two now.

Gound gives to Young for the two point conversion.

4:50 left in the 3rd. Now JC 29-7.
#60
We'll see now if Ashland abandons their strategy to milk their clock every snap, or if their goal is simply to avoid a running clock and they stick with it...
