I still say a ban from post season is a bit much and causes a bigger stink w deciding who should get the bye week.

I think it would be fairly easy, Fairview would lose the number two seed, Nicholas and Paintsville move up and Pikeville gets a bye. I don't know.

There will be no playoff ban. It would be easy , but will not happen.

Agree or not but post season ban is on the table to discuss. Other issues will arise out of the "ONE" that is public at a later time.

From what I have heard a post season ban is likely just not sure when and how long.

Let them play :Sad04:

Forget the khsaa I think that the board should step up and say Fridays game is it for this season.Until every thing gets settled are season is over as of Friday. That would show me and every one else that the board is at least accepting guilt and agree that something is wrong. For the playoffs it's real simple, who ever that Fairveiw was playing welcome to the 2nd round. If Iam the top seed in the districts I don't want a game off this time of the year and the first round games mean nothing. But no they should not play it might not be fair to some of the kids but the kids, parents, and coaches knew what was going on.If they are aloud to play they are teaching the kids it's ok to cheat and you can get by with it.

Its a shame all of this has been brought on to such a great small school. What goes around comes around. I can remember back 4-5 years ago when they had a quarterback transfer to Ashland and they blocked the transfer and the player had to sit out for a year. Now they think they can break the transfer rules and do whatever they want. Now they see that what comes around goes around.

I've reserved my opinion on this for some time now and after following the daily posts IMO , it would be a shame if the kids at Fairview were punished for what adult(s) have done. I sincerely hope the KHSAA does not ban them from moving forward in post season because it would truly be tragic. Those kids have given all they have starting since the last game they played in the State Championship through the summer until their first game of this season. It isn't right to demolish what they have worked for, it was not their fault that this came down on them. Let the staff and administrators pay for their transgressions. My belief is the head coach should come clean to his players face to face because they are the ones that worked out in the off season and during to make themselves better. Everyone understands the difficulty of class A football and numbers to be competitive, heck we are a great example of that but I just think McPeek should address his team and tell them what and why he was trying to do and then the kids could make up their mind on what they want to do moving forward. Fairview is our district family and were very proud they represented us in the state last year. Competition aside we pull for all our class A teams from the east. Best to all the players, boosters, and family members.

No matter how this ends up, It is a no win situation for all involved from community to school admin to coaches to players to khsaa. It is a black eye to HS football in general, and even as an outsider it is painful if you really believe in everything good about HS football. I hope all involved understand that there is a group of young men here that are going to need some real coaching in the near future. I hope for the best resolution whatever that may be.

Just like the NCAA.
The school. The players. The kids. The fans will all feel the pain.
The ones that caused the problems. Like always. Will just move on to the next victims!
Until we start cracking down on the criminals that causes the problems. It will always happen.

Parents shouldn't complain, they knew what was going on and because of the immediate winning just kept supporting it and ignoring the wrongs. The parents dropped the ball and the kids have to pay for that, and that is not right but no way around it.

The entire program and community knew what has been going on for the past few years and nothing was done about it.So I dont know why some of the Fairview faithful is surprised now by what is going on. I dont feel to sorry for the kids I understand where some people are posting let them play it is not their fault in a way it is they know the rules just as well as the coaches and everyone that follows sports. So if a program has to break the rules to get ahead I think they should be hammered.IMO

Just read the article, and Musick threw everyone else under the bus and played the innocent card. What a joke.

I absolutely agree. Everyone who follows local high school athletics has been aware of Fairview's activities for several years- beginning with when they began winning games- football and basketball.
As long as the wins kept coming, everyone in Millseat (parents, fans, players, administrators, "financial" supporters, etc.) were well informed and quite happy to adher to the idea that "the end justifies the means". To suggest that the poor players are merely pawns and "babes in arms" is an insult to anyone with an IQ over 50. These boys (and girls) are well aware of all that is going on- particluarly the ones who matriculated to Millseat from afar. In fact, they are better informed of what is going on than are their parents. So, I agree with CoachfromthStands. The players as as culpable as are the others.
Save your tears for the real innocents.

In other words what Musick is really saying "If you screw up and let them catch me again, you're fired"
11-01-2013, 08:43 AM
Looks like Nate was speaking honestly, "The truth will be known"...
Truth is Bill Musick is a bottom feeding, catch me not, that looks to have wiggled his way out of another one. The "new systems" he will put in place...give me a break. There needs to be a system i place to get rid of him. The people in Fairview, more importantly, the KIDS in Fairview deserve better than that slimeball.

KHSAA ruling for Fairview football violations expected today
Aaron Snyder The Independent
WESTWOOD — Fairview superintendent Bill Musick has been playing the waiting game along with everyone else.
The wait is nearing an end.
Musick expects the Kentucky High School Athletic Association to hand down a ruling this morning regarding the Fairview football program after its investigation of the school for playing an ineligible player all of last season and part of this season.
Musick believes the sanctions will include the following: a fine, forfeits and a four-year probation.
A postseason ban for this season, Musick admits, is also likely. He is awaiting confirmation on all of the above.
Musick said he is satisfied and in agreement with the ruling. “The issue warrants the decision.”
Fairview will be stripped of 18 wins, including all 14 during its Class A state runner-up season in 2012 and its first four victories this season. The school has agreed to pay a $5,000 fine to the KHSAA.
“We, as a staff at Fairview Schools, accept the responsibility for what has transpired,” Musick said.
The Eagles, by all indications, will be forced to miss the playoffs, which were set to begin at home on Nov. 8 if eligible. The Eagles travel to James Gamble Montessori in Cincinnati tonight to wrap up the regular season.
Fairview’s record will now officially stand at 4-5, and Musick expects the school will be ordered to return all hardware collected during its 2012 season.
“When this issue with the athletic department surfaced, no one was more heartbroken than I,” said Musick in his office on Thursday. “I’ve played here, coached here, was principal here and now am the superintendent here. It’s pretty obvious how much I care for this program.”
In addition to the likely KHSAA sanctions, the school has also accepted the resignations of head football coach Nathan McPeek, effective after today’s game, and athletic director Garry McPeek, which has already taken effect.
Garry McPeek also resigned as principal and is no longer an assistant coach.
“Garry McPeek has been my friend for 20 years,” Musick said. “He was my friend last week and he is my friend today.”
Nathan McPeek remains a teacher at the high school, while Garry McPeek has been reassigned to Fairview Elementary where he is a physical education instructor.
Musick said all personnel issues go through the superintendent. The school board has nothing to do with personnel except hiring the superintendent, he said.
To insure no repeat violations, two or three programs have been initiated to bring checks and balances, according to Musick. Henceforth coaches, the principal and athletic director all will be in the loop to ensure no one person is entirely liable.
With the checks and balances system in place, any violation of this magnitude in the future would be a firing offense.
"We've got to hold everybody accountable,” Musick said.
With this level of accountability, the chances of a major violation are "slim to none,” he said.
Musick acknowledged that if another “slip-up” occurs during Fairview’s period of probation, the penalty would be severe.

I've heard that he was scheduled to retire in the spring, I heard that way before all of this came about, but I think he should be relieved of his job immediately. There's a very high probability that he was involved, if that's true, it will come out.

I said it a long time ago. "Fairview is the new Rosehill". I said it. I stuck by it......and as usual.....I was right. Where are all of the eagle fans now? Get on here and say that you are suprised. I dare you! The whole Tri-state new what was happening and You people chose to ignore it and ram it down everybodys throat. All I can say is....is that if Raceland wins the regional title this year We can "Honestly" Say we did it before Fairview.
