Highlands 71 - Warren Central 69 Final
#31
I don't care who played or didn't, but 918 yards for Warren Central is insane. Surely a team with 100 kids on their roster could find someone to at least slow them down.

Warren Central has to be upset that they put up a state record for yards and 69 points and still lost.

Not if they realize that Highlands was up 48-14 before they called the dogs off.

Wow! I guess Warren Central was a little better than expected. 140 points is a lot of offense and little or no defense, by both teams. I know Highlands rested some starters and will come back with a vengeance, but they did give Johnson Central some hope. I wouldn't want to be Highlands next opponent.

Seriously? Really? Where they playing basketball?

41-7 at the half. All the Bluebirds haters can rejoice all they want at the outcome, but there was never a doubt that the Blue Birds Varsity was better than Warren's Varsity and in the second half, Warren's varsity was better than HHS JV & Frosh! Have fun, but I'b be more concerned about the future all Bird Haters, because if HHS JV & Frosh put up 24 against WC's Varsity D, then the Birds are going to win four more straight state titles.....

If Highlands' string of state titles does not end this season, then it will most likely end next season. 918 yards is 918 yards. Unless Highlands' ever classy coach elects to erase that number from the record book by running up the score against some extremely weak, over matched team, that record of 918 yards of total offense will stand for awhile. A losing team might not ever top that number. :biglmao:

I thought the Bluebirds were 20 deep at every position?

Anything can happen. Nothing is a given. Don't bet your retirement on it, though.:moon:

Nobody who has read your posts will be confused by a simple typo. Better hurry back to that All Highlands All the Time website before you are missed. :hilarious:

"All Highlands All the Time website"? That's the one based in Bowling Green, right? It's a city over in the Central part of the state. Maybe someday you'll get to visit.
Maybe not.:devilflam

It's attitudes like your's that will make the end of Highlands' streak particularly enjoyable to people like me. Whether that moment comes this year or next, it will be worth the wait. I hope that when Johnson Central wins its first title that our fans will manage the Golden Eagles' success with a little more grace.

It was 41-7 at one point in the second quarter, but 55-28 at the half. The Highlands starting offense never came off the field. Their QB was the backup from the get go. Their offense is incredible, best I've seen, including BG.

As I understand it, defensively Highlands was missing 3 starters in the secondary from the start, then they pulled a couple more regulars late in the second quarter. In the 4th Quarter, those regulars were put back in, but obviously they never had those secondary guys that didn't even dress.

Missing some players in the secondary is obviously something that affects you, but I was surprised at how poorly Highlands defended the edge. Central's error was not attacking it sooner in the game. They looked totally shell shocked by the shock and awe of the Highlands offense at the beginning. The fake punt attempt and the unforced fumble deep in their own territory sure didn't help the score at the start. It was 27-0 before Central blinked.

27-0 after Highlands ran a total of 7 offensive plays. I think coach called off the dogs too quick and was hoping that WC would score to allow him to keep offense on the field longer to give them more game time (saw some new formations), however I do not think he expected WC to put up that many points on the subs. It was a very entertaining but very weird game. Dale is hard to figure out some times, but when it is a game that matters he always has the right personel in the game and the team playing at their best. I see almost every game and did not know a lot of the kids on the field last night. If HHS haters are salivating over what they think is a vulnerable team, go watch the tape of Elder game because that is the team you will see in later rounds of playoffs. Other teams should be more worried that 45% of D rested last night, gave up 69 points, and with a backup QB still won. Let's just say HHS fans feel very confident heading into playoffs.

^ I think after the loss to Elder and the last regular season motivation (perfect season), it feels like there was a purpose in the second half - Let the young Birds learn under fire. What other team in the state would have had the guts to let these guys get pressed all the way to the final gun without caving in and bringing in your Juniors and Seniors?

Highlands starting d-Line played the whole game but they couldn't touch WC backs!

WC had no success up the middle all success was way out around the ends. Line did fine it was DB and safeties and missing #30 who would have made huge difference.
