I heard that the best running back in Kentucky Elijah Bell was
ejected against Bryan Station in last Friday nights regular season game.
I heard that KHSAA has decided to let him play this week in the playoffs.
Where are their rules for being ejected??? I guess those rules don't
apply to Lexington teams. What is everyone's thoughts? I may got bad info
but this is just what I heard.
KHSAA REMEMBER THIS BYLAW????

Elijah Bell was a transfer to Henry Clay, my grandson's junior year. My memory could fail me here, but I believe he came from Bryan Station.

I heard he had been ejected in another thread. If so, he should sit for one game. The rule used to state a 2 game suspension.

KHSAA's DQ list does not indicate that any football player from Henry Clay is currently disqualified. Are folks sure he was ejected? Or are rumors just being repeated?

Oh, I don't have a clue about the validity. I just remember him being so tiny when he was a Freshman, but Lord, could that child ever run!!

I don't think I've ever heard of somebody being reinstated after being ejected from a game. What's the difference here?

That's the question: is anyone absolutely sure he was ejected?
I only ask because I've seen refs send a kid to the sideline and suggest to the kid's head coach that the kid sit out a few plays and cool down. The head coach then decided not to put the kid in the rest of the game to discipline him. And some people erroneously thought the kid was ejected. Could that have happened here?
Again, I'm not saying the kid wasn't ejected; I'm just asking if we are sure he was ejected.

Yes, Elijah was ejected near the end of the 4th quarter last week vs. Bryan Station. The ref ejected him for throwing a violent stiff arm in the form of a punch(the refs explanation). Henry Clay has appealed the decision and won their appeal. Elijah will be playing on Friday night vs. Madison Central.

I always want to see kids get the chance to play BUT would this appeal been won if it were lets say Madison Centrals Star Runing Back throwing the stiff arm considering they ARE NOT a Lexington school? Looks like a little KHSAA Favoritism.

I'm not siding with anyone here, Johnny Ringo but I can tell you this. Henry Clay could easily beat Madison Central without Bell. That's no put down to MC either. I'm surprised Simpson would even appeal that unless there were extenuating circumstances.

having pkayed both, Id agree that Henry Clay would still be favored without Elijah. But they played earlier full rosters to a 41-21 game. Elijah accounts for 40% of Henry Clays offense. In the playoffs, I think Central could definitely beat Henry Clay with a sitting Bell. Thats a HUGE decision in Henry Clays favor. Normal rules say sit for 2, ammended to 1.......now diminished to 0. Interesting to say the least.

You all are making this sound like Sam Simpson is some kind of pet for the KHSAA which is not the case. I'd like to know why he isn't sitting out, but it is certainly not because Simpson or Clay get preferential treatment. I lived in Lexington for 11 years and saw the exact opposite to be true for all the city schools.

Brigid Devries went to Lex Cath (former commish) and I believe Julian went to Bryan Station and goes out of his way to be a jerk to the city schools to avoid being accused of favoritism.

I would say Henry Clay would be the favorite with or without Bell, but it would be a much different game without him. Special player. Has anybody seen any newspaper stories on this? I'd be interested to see if there were any statements released by the KHSAA.

If im not mistaken, doesnt a suspension for ejection now run for two games though?
It use to be one game, but im pretty sure they changed it to a two game suspension.
If thats the case, i can see why HC wanted him back. They need him for the second round.

There was a mutual ejection/suspension in the McCracken - Tilghman game. I believe I am correct in saying say that when PT inquired about an appeal - because they believed they had video to support their belief - they were advised that an appeal was impossible.
How quaint that different schools get different treatment, if that is in fact what happened.
Second question. You cant fight with yourself. You can hit someone else, but fighting involves two people. Was anyone else tossed?

From the officiating I have seen this year I would rule on the side of the kid even if they found brass knuckles on him in the huddle.

This is absolutely the truth..........especially when it came to Lexington Catholic. If it had been a player on a Lex cath team then they probably would of suspended the entire LC team.

This is a shame. We have rules that say 2 games. then we change it to one game and now we appeal something that is not supposed to be appealed and they say no games missed. What message are we sending to our players. Big mistake if you ask me.
11-06-2013, 11:57 AM
Sounds like and I didn't see it, but you are not supposed to be ejected for a stiff arm. I don't care how hard it was. Maybe the KHSAA did the right thing. Not often, but, a stiff arm is legal. I completely agree with the 2 games being changed. Basketball and baseball play 30 games and they sit 2, football sits 2 with 10 games. Football was sitting 20% of their season while the others were not even close to that.

I am no Catholic hater but they should be suspended the way that sideline acts. I have seen only a few games there and that included a clinic put on by that staff on how to get in the officials ear. I think I saw a ear lobe in the coaches mouth on the way back to the sideline. That being said officiating is not the best but my gosh. Ask any ref and they will tell you that LC is down right nasty to officials.
