I think this will be a very different game than last time...To me the game that LC just came out of says something.... I seen in the thread that they played 4 quarters and didnt turn the ball over, and still just won by 2 scores...Oh well, Congrats LC on making it back to the CAM....Im looking forward to this one.... Should be a good one.....If Belfrys defense plays like last time the score will be similar to the last...If Belfry plays D like I know they can, Belfry 49-14

Belfry!

Belfry 21 - Lawrence Co 18

Not that LC is great, but neither are we.

At this point in the year, I think not making it to Bowling Green is a disappointment but probably a reality.

This will a completely different game than the first one was. LC has been playing C+ football and they better bring their A game against Belfry. Hopefully LC 24 - Belfry 20, But Belfry is tough if our D plays bad it could be as bad 48-12 Belfry.

Based on who beating BHS before BG?... make your case....BTW...you may be right, but I would like to know the evidence you base it on and see if it matches mine.

^ one major problem for belfry is the lack of execution on the option pitch. Warren pitches it to the turf at least once a game, sometimes twice. It is to the point where you have to be wary of calling it IMO.

2) the defense gives up lots of yards and lots of points. A good team can move the ball on the ground in chunks.

I think it is a rematch in the Semi's. It should be a good game. Bourbon returns like 19 starters. Belfry is starting 3-4 freshmen on D.

Those are some reasons. Wink

Bucslover, I promise that PaytoPlay and I are not the same person but if you read his post in the quote that is how I would answer your question, although he probably put it more eloquently than I would.

At the beginning of the year I would have said we sail all the way to BG but by what I've seen this year I think that Bourbon Co. is more than a hump in the road, they are a concern. Hope I'm wrong but that's the feeling I get after watching out turnover prone offense and a young inexperienced D.

The main problem I have with the option pitch is trying to pitch it late 10-15 yards down the field.....If you have already have a big gain, then why search for more? I don't think the option will disappear because there are too many yards to be gained from it.
The D is still searching and I wish now in week 12 that they were more settled....it was unreal Friday night how many positions were switching in and out....secondary , LBs, and nose and ends....Looks to me like they are trying to get the best 11 athletes that tackle the best...good idea IMO if they can get them some cohesiveness quickly.
Hypothetically, Belfry and Bourbon should be a great game....I'm not sure that either team can contain the other...One thing about this Belfry team is that they compensate and find ways to win....With all their flaws, they will still be a tough out....Bourbon has not been tested....Belfry has....Belfry has faced much in game adversity many times this year....They know what it is like to get behind and have to rally....Bourbon hasn't....Bourbon's adversity has come in the form of playing several games without their starting QB....Belfry would cause Bourbon to most likely face some situations they have never seen....How the Colonels respond will be key....
If practice this past week is any indication, Belfry is not satisfied....flipping tires and running hills is not normal week 11 practice LOL...
Playing healthy will help....barring anything new, Friday against LC could be the healthiest this team has been all year.
First things first....LC and then possibly PC/Breathitt will be good tests and opportunities to get better.

I have no relative on Belfry's team. I do absolutely support our guys. I am also very excited about some of the great young talent on the team.

That said, I try to be real about prognosticating on here. I'm not always right and I tend to be cautious about the home team. Sani is a nice QB. I like him and I think he is a great leader and quality football player. That said, he puts the ball on the ground when running the option WAY to much. It isn't the end of the world. While I also completely support Haywood, you have to look at 11 weeks and say, let's be judicious risking the pitch. You can motion the WB and pitch it wide. It is safer. If teams are keying on the motion man as the play side, and surging toward the play side tackle, run the counter or run the FB to negate that. Sani has consistently put the ball on the ground after gaining nice yardage.

Here is the bottom line: belfry has a shot to take it all, bu that requires the seniors on offense to WIN the game. That means run a bit safer offense IMO and shorten the game against good teams. Gosh, this is what Haywood knows. IMO ( and I am no genius) run the FB, pound the power off tackle, run Johnson on the counter, and keep it simple until they MAKE you run the pitch.

I think Belfry rolls LC in this one. Belfry was probably a little surprised by LC last time, not gonna happen this time. Plus, if my memory serves me Justin Johnson didn't play in the first game. He makes a huge difference in that Belfry offense.

Belfry 42
LC 18

No way I can counter any of that lol....FB is the bread and butter...Getting Hatfield back and knowing Carr and Fletcher are there as well is a big plus....Sani definitely needs to protect the ball ....He MUST protect the ball...I also like Taylor at spot duty with the pitch to the outside...It will get interesting starting Friday and it will be interesting to see how the ole coach continues to adjust this team.
