Belfry fans have to understand that for the last few years Belfry won the game in the first quarter. LC had never seen Belfry punt. JV in in 2nd quarter. Freshmen in 3rd quarter with running clock. This year Belfry had a 2 score lead at the start of the 3rd quarter with both scores coming off LC turnovers in the 1st quarter. This game, I would think Belfry would start the varsity team instead of the freshmen/jv team they used in the last game. If Belfry uses their varsity they should have a good chance to win going away. However, if they want to rest their starters like they did before the JC game it could be risky. LC moved the ball better than in years past against the frosh/jv team. Of course the LC players THINK they can win no matter who Belfry puts on the field. Oh to be young again. I know how important this game is to Belfry fans because those Bowling Green motel cancellations hit the pocketbook hard. Here's hoping the ref's are playoff caliber and for an injury free game.

Look back through the posts and see who started what. Don't dish out s#*t and there won't be any in return.

Backhanded way to call us cocky. :igiveup:Also, being week two I don't think there's a Belfry fan out there that already has reservations at the Drury Inn just yet.

I never thought I would ever say this, dawgbyte02 but the officials for the first playoff game were good! Bringing them in from other regions just might turn out to be the best idea in football in a long time.

But that's only for Belfry fans, right? Anyone else dishes something out and it's a rules violation.

The Pirates were pretty banged up on the offensive side of the ball the first time these two teams met. From what I gather they are healthy but whether they need to full stable against LC will be determined by the coaches. On the defensive side of the ball you got starters not JV/Frosh. The Pirates are very young on defense. That being said, yes LC did move the bell well at times, the problem however is that moving the ball only resulted in 12 points because AJ Cyrus can not beat Belfry alone.
A little run down on the offense from the first meeting:
Austin Hatfield (the beast at FB) was still dealing with some ankle issues, still played, still scorched LC for 138 yards and has seen limited action since. He's healthy but not being risked.
Justin Johnson did not play against LC the first time, has been banged up. JJ is the #1 man on the depth chart for a reason. He is explosive and a huge home run threat. May or may not play.
Trenity Carr, my personal favorite on this team. Only had 85 yards the first time LC came to The Valley. He he carried the ball 14 times (6 ypc) and took it to the house 3 times. This kid is a hard nosed touchdown machine (10 in the last 4 games).
These guys are supported by a very talented group behind them on the depth chart the runs almost 10 deep. Including Dari who went 8 carries for 118 yards agains LC.
Last time LC played at the CAM, the Pirates were coming off a big win in Tennessee and quite possibly looking ahead to a game against Johnson Central, that doesn't mean that starters were rested.
I expect similar score to last time:
Belfry 42
LC 18
It comes down to this, if LC wants a real chance to win they are going to have to have more than AJ Cyrus for the first 3 quarters of football. They are going to have to score points when they move the football. It will not be enough to grind clock and keep the Pirates off the field, they have too many home run threats. Belfry's defense has been suspect all year and have allowed teams to run and pass all over them. The problem that every team besides Johnson Central has ran into is that the Pirates offense is so good, even when banged up and making stupid mistakes that they just flat out outscore you and take the wind out of your sails.

Did I say anything about a rules violation? I guess this goes back to the first Belfry\LC Thread. He was calling people stupid on the open baord, insulted myself and several others as well in a PM to me. I am full within my power to give a ban or suspension to troublemakers. If you have an issue, please PM me. I am 100% sure I have the backing of the founder of the site.

No, but when you give them out (not counting bigballer though, that was needed) it is always in defense of Belfry. Given that the site has become more troll-friendly (

If the trolls and others would actually talk about high school football, strategy, and the playoffs it would make this site a lot better.

Since I took the time to once again drop in and troll you guys, I'll talk strategy.
If I'm Belfry: I get the ball to that big monster Trenity Carr up the middle, get the defense keying on him and hand it to Johnson to try to break one. I would be focused on forcing a couple turnovers early. Teams like Lawrence will come in and play really well early in the game. If you can put them away early, that fire will go away. I wouldn't be afraid to stack the box against Lawrence defensively. Two 1,100+ yard rushers and one guy that is 69 yards away from 1,000 yards. With a QB that primarily throws the deep ball resulting in completing less than 40% of his passes and threw two picks against Belfry last time, I wouldn't worry about the pass.
If I'm Lawrence: I try to slow the game down and take long, time consuming drives against a Belfry defense that has been the question mark for them all season. Mix it up as to who gets the ball. Utilize Ferguson and Goble and get the defense keying on them, then get it to Cyrus to make a big play running the ball. Focus on ball control. If you turn the ball over, Belfry will make you pay for it.
Lawrence is not a team that Belfry should take lightly, as some of their fans are doing. The 03 and 04 state championship teams both had a tough time with Lawrence, the 04 team escaping by the skin of their teeth with a 20-18 win over a 3-7 Lawrence team. Belfry also had a tough time putting away an 0-11 Lawrence team in 2008, barely escaping with a 20-13 win.
I don't see Belfry losing in the second round of the playoffs. Strange things happen in high school football, but given that this has been such a big year for the Belfry program and Coach Haywood, I don't see them allowing it to end with a loss to Lawrence. I'm going to say Lawrence keeps it close early, Belfry opens the lead before halftime, and puts Lawrence away by the fourth quarter, the final score being 42-21 Belfry.
There's some strategy for you.

Belfry/Lawrence Co. Round 1 was a good ballgame. Belfry was always in control, but to say JV played and etc is just bull. It was a nice 4 quarter game and Belfry folks should appreciate that and give credit to LC.
I don't understand why the need to justify Lawrence has a quality team and challenge Belfry. Maybe JJ was out but the JV didn't play D in the game. It was 28-12 late in the 4th. Belfry fans need to be honest about our team or we look bad and erode support from those who otherwise like and feel proud about how we represent the Mountains.

Belfry is really to much for lc to contend with. Belfry 42- lc 12. Lc will give all they have but they just don't have enough horses to run yet.Hope both teams come out injury free!

It is an odd year 2013 so Belfry will travel beginning in the third round if they make it. The only thing that changes the regional championship site (third round) is if Belfry faces a lower seed (possibly Pike Central) then the game would be at Belfry. If Breathitt wins, then it is two ONE seeds facing each other and the game would be at Breathitt. In the state semi round, Belfry will travel regardless because region 3 (odd year, odd region hosts) will host the semis this year. That would possibly be at Bourbon/Mason if the favorites win out.

thanks Buc,i dont keep up with the odd or even yr stuff, for some reason i thought Belfry would have to travel but it would only be for the semis if they keep winning,i guess i was wrong..

Did someone say something back to Belfry besides me and get in trouble???? Ha Ha wasn't me this time I have been away for little while. I got suspended for standing up and talking back to idiots. But to stay on topic I am hoping LC wins but it will take a perfect game from them. But I think Belfry is to much this year I just hope they are not handed TD's like they were the first game.
