Pike Central @ Belfry 11/22/13( Regional Title)
#61
First quarter of last game Belfry spotted Pcc 19 points. That will not happen in this game. Like Bucslover already said. 2nd half was what Belfry does. They out scored PCC I believe it was like 48-8. From the looks of belfry last Friday they are primed and ready to go. Defense will not let up and PCC will not be a factor.

As always Pike Central will score some but they wont jump to a 19 point lead early in this one like they did in the regular season. The Pirates played some great football last week, Carr continues to be a beast in the backfield whose closing in on a 20 TD season.

Belfry - 49
PCC - 21

GORGEOUS!!!!

I even agree with your score prediction!!

Go Pirates!

johntom2000 Wrote:If PCC stick with their game plan like they did in 1st half of the first game for the whole game this Friday night. We may see the biggest upset in school history. PCC will have to man up for 48 mins and bust the FB (who ever will be playing) and make em think twice about hitting the quick FB dive and play smart football on offense and hit the end zone fast and quick and again play tough smart defense.

Their game plan was to fall on fumbles and let Belfry spot them 3 TD's?

Belfry - 49
Pike Central - 18

The defensive secondary has got to be aware of #4 Brad Elkins. I believe PC goes as far as he does, and Mac Justice wants to throw to Elkins and I think if you can take him away you'll give Justice problems. I noticed a lot of Central alumni were not surprised in the 2nd half that following a pick, Justice coughed up the ball (personally I wasn't surprised either because both times Rayquan Horton was in position to eat him up) but if they think he's got a problem of melting down when things get tough, I think taking his #1 guy away would really screw him up.

Belfry has to be more prepared for the draw and screen play, as well. We've seen a lot of pass and intermediate pass but struggled against the draw both against PC and CAK at times.

People are seriously underestimating the hawks. They are a very talented football team.

I don't deny that PCC has some talent, but Belfry beat them by 3 TDs earlier and it will probably be worse this time.

Belfry big in this one. This is Belfry's time of year, they will control the clock and use smash mouth football to wear down the hawks. Belfry's move to a smaller and quicker defensive lineup will be much more productive against PCC this time around. If they limit the turnovers it will be a running clock early in second half.

Pike Central had the luck of the bounce on fumbles the first time around. They was up 19-0 in the 1st quarter and 26-14 at the half. They still could not put away the Pirates. I don't think they will benefit from such a horrible start by Belfry the second time around. Belfry puts the Hawks away early.

My prediction:

There is no denying that PC benefited directly from unusually awful Belfry play in the first game.

There is also no denying that Belfry had a similar stretch of football from PC in the 2nd Half that propelled the Pirates to such a convincing come back win...but people overlook that. PC had a blocked FG, several turnovers, and generally fell apart.

The difference in the two is Belfry's were more of the unforced variety (dropped pitches, lose the ball reaching for extra yards, muffed exchanges)... whereas PC's miscues were of the forced variety and the result of defensive pressure by Belfry.

The key parts to take from that game, exclusive of the turnovers:

- Pike Central failed to ever stop Belfry's offense excluding when Belfry stopped themselves.

- Belfry proved they could get several defensive stops against PC, but at the same time PC proved they could definitely score on Belfry and generate offense.

- When Belfry took away the PC running game the passing game struggled as a by-product. This was all about pressure.

Ignoring the turnovers and focusing on those things is where the truth of this game lies.

Belfry 48
Pike Central 28

In a game that is pretty competitive throughout that Belfry puts away in the 2nd Half after making adjustments and wearing PC down. PC adds a late TD.

I'll take Belfry by 3td's resting a few of the starters in the 4th.

Belfry used a small line up first game and didn't put pressure on them the first half. Leave the new d alone since some of them are healthy this game and can play both sides. Turn the big guys loose and blitz the backside end and rattle them.

As a Belfry fan and from someone who hates every team on Pikeville's side of the mountain. I would like to say that PC has improved leaps and bounds throughout the years and left me impressed when Belfry came to Buckley's Creek. As bad as I dislike them ( because that is the way it should be) it is good to see all the area teams improve and not continue to be a doormat to Belfry. IMHO, I can see them, PC and even Pikeville maybe beating Belfry in the future. Not very soon future, but they are on the rise and as a fan of football, it is good to see.

Do you think A. Hatfield will play both sides of the football this week or exclusively strong side LB?
#84
^ I hope he plays at least SOME FB. He is one of the best FB's out there IMO.
#85
^I agree he is one of the best FBs anywhere, but if last game is any indication, I'd say he goes only on D. The new D they put out there was impressive and I'm anxious to see how they do against the spread.

This is Belfry's year. Belfry bye 3 td's

I don't think you'll see Hatfield play much offensively. The defense has alot more swagger with Hatfield out there. However....if Belfry's fortunate enough to advance to state semi's.....I believe you'll see Hatfield busting through the line again. Could be some sandbagging at play.

Belfrey by 4-5 tds

Another note I wanted to make, as much love as Keaton Taylor gets for being one of the best playmakers I've seen at Belfry from the WR position, this kid has absolutely demolished several defenders on crack blocks this year and that says a lot about a kid as skinny as he is but man he lays some licks... not really something that's hard to be good at but I sure do love watching him do it!

Both sides of the ball is better with hatfield out there. But with that being said if we have a lead no need to chance him getting hurt running the ball. He means that much to our defense.
