Seems pretty unfair to me??
But that is the system KHSAA and KDE has set-up and I don't Blame Central 1% for using it.
That being said Scroggins does a great job coaching. He could be 1 of the more underated coaches in the state.
It's ok I understand your still mad at me over the basketball game last night
They still have to compete with the Louisville schools for the talent can't deny just anyone they want to see last post

I as a football fan am tired of reading about Corbin from you this year...
ON a side note I enjoy some of your post when they don't have the words Corbin, Red hounds, or US in them..:dudecomeon::insane:
I was making no excuses they manhandled Corbin. Wayne played a 4-3 and walked both corners and sometimes the safety up. I don't think Corbin is going to be any better next year and I didn't expect them to be worth a crap this year. I don't live in Corbin nor is that my home town!! I was referencing what I seen so if you don't like it keep scrolling.

Coachdad here is the info I think you were talking about per Wikipedia
Until 2000, all high schools in Jefferson County were required to maintain a percentage of African-American students between 15 and 50%. In 2000, a group of black parents sued after their children were denied admission to Central High School. As a result, US District Judge John Heyburn II struck down the use of race-conscious school assignment procedures for Jefferson County magnet and traditional schools such as Central. Admission is now determined through a random lottery.
Thank you very much for looking that up ! I'm tired of explaining it .
However the info is slightly skewed , they lose their appeal everytime , it did not end in 2000, I worked for 10 years for the firm that represents the district & it is led by a lawyer named Byron Leet , he has always won this case on appeal ( to this date) even when the plaintiffs have won the initial ruling.
Even with this info in black & white some people cannot for the life of me will not be able to comprehend.
EVEN THOUGH YOU LOOKED IT UP & SHARED.
THE LAW STILL STANDS .... No more than 35% theoretically no less than 15% , the 2000 ruling gave central an exemption to increase to 50% OF THE SCHOOLS TOTAL CAPACITY. Having said that NON MINORITY students need to enroll to bring Central to full capacity. However until 2000 central played in ky's largest class(4A) & did very well. I coached from 94-97 during that span we beat Trinity 3 out of the 4 years there , won 2 district titles ( same district) as trinity , a regional title and a trip to the state semi-finals.

Most of the football powers in the state have the same type advantages in that they draw kids to play there. Teams such as Highlands, Beechwood, Bowling Green, Trinity, Mayfield and Bell Co. etc. quickly come to mind.
Back 25-30 years ago, before a lot of the county school systems cared about football, schools such as Middlesboro, Corbin, Somerset, Danville, etc. enjoyed the same type advantages.
Kids like to go where they can play for good coaches and have a lot of success.

What is it about Central that makes it a "magnet." It has some of the lowest ACT scores in the state. It is in a dangerous part of Louisville. The streets around it are not safe. Sounds like they work pretty hard at keeping that male enrollment tamped down so they can play in 3A and get a trophy every year.
When I worked in Louisville I spent an extensive amount of time in that area of Louisville.
Some of the nicest people I ever encountered in the city of Louisville were in the 2 mile radius of Central H.S.
During the day I never felt unsafe or threatened a single moment... I can't speak for being there at night, as I was back to my office by that point, but I will say without hesitation that having worked extensively in the majority of Jefferson County during my time that the area close to Central was one of my Top 3 or 4 areas to work. FWIW, the other areas I enjoyed the most were Anchorage, St. Matthews, Jeffersontown, and Old Louisville (mainly because I loved being able to get Dizzy Whizz for lunch form time to time)
I felt worried/threatened the most when I was in Shively, Grade Lane (industrial area south of airport), and several parts of the West End.
I found the majority of people around Central were people who had owned their businesses for years and took great pride in their work and community. Several mentioned they moved away from areas of the West End to that immediate area because even a few miles made all the difference in the world.

I personally like the zoo and the slugger museum. I sure miss Kentucky Kingdom.
Can we get back to the game?
Looks like rain Friday. Opinions on how that will affect each team.

I do believe the rain may help central!! It's the only way Guffeys passing game will slow down. It may stop the long bombs but they can be just as deadly with the catch and run. I think it's going to be a good one the rain shouldn't effect the outcome unless it's a monsoon.

So many ignorant posts some times. People will find anything to make a false claim and take something from someone else. This reminds me a lot of the controversy of people claiming belfry recruits kids from West Virginia. Central just always has a group of talented young men. With other powerhouse schools in the area I am sure it would be hard to "recruit". There are many schools in kentucky that have advantages and you cannot sit here and proclaim if you had them you would not use them to your benefit. I am a little surprised that the law requires a limit on race. Central takes this one

Well "fundamentals " I'm sure the law would refer to it more as "balance" rather than "limit".
However yours was an excellent post .

I'm just going to be honest, if you bet against Central come November you must like giving money away... Scroggins and company find ways to DO IT. They say the game isn't over til the clock strikes 0, hell I wouldn't be surprised if Wayne wins the game and gets DQ'd the next game (not really) because Central finds ways to survive and advance all the way til they're getting fitted for rings. But, if Wayne/PT/South Warren/Belfry/Bourbon/Mason/Pike Central want to BE the man... they gotta BEAT the man. Wayne gets their chance to be the man Friday. I think they're real good, but I'll go with the safe bet and pick THE MAN.
Central 13-0
Central 13-0

If Wayne pulls this one out then I believe they win a state title. If there is a defense in 3a that has the speed to contain Guffey it's Central. I'm picking Wayne in this one they could possibly send Central packing for the first time in a long time. Central just struggled with Bell if they show up and play that same game this week it will be over early. Then again I don't know that Wayne's d can stop central's run game!! If it was at Wayne they would be a 7-10 point favorite at central I think they are a 3-7 point favorite. The big question will be can Central put up enough points they have a scoring average of about 27 points per game and Wayne has a scoring average of about 43 points per game. I know that central has played a much better schedule but Wayne is a high scoring team. The least amount of points Wayne scored this year was 35. So on paper Wayne looks like a sure thing but we all know what that means come Friday night NUTTIN!!

I can tell you this, in years past Belfry has played some incredible teams that hailed in comparison to the black and yellow buzzsaw we met in BG/Louisville. That's why I have nothing but respect for them. I haven't seen Wayne County yet, but I've seen teams who are athletic as can be but their best athlete would be just another 4.5 40 on the defense. The thing that gets you about them isn't the speed either, they will knock you stiff. Well-coached too. Offense doesn't have to be special when you have a D featuring Mobley, Styles, Francis, and the others. I'm telling you, don't count this bunch out yet... and the task doesn't get any easier with Paducah Tilghman and South Warren lingering for whoever wins.

Central's field is already in bad shape due to over use. It will be sloppy, sloppy.

False.
Most schools do not recruit at all... parents and players recruit.
Parents will send their kid where they have the best opportunity. Whether that is to be a winner, have the best culture, have the most exposure, or simply to bets be set-up for success after High School
Players recruit their friends. Players want to play with players who will make them look better.
By and large schools do not recruit... especially the elite programs... they simply don't have to when people will voluntarily recruit themselves. Schools implement systems to assure the baseline for success stays high by maintaining facilities, keeping a top notch staff, maintaining a feeder system, and administrative support.

By your own statement you proved me right Player and Parents threw attendance and tax dollars are part of the school system. I never blamed coaches I said schools. Plus you can't tell me that a coach hasn't trolled pee wee football and pulled a kid or two threw a parent from another school system ...... it happens don't be naive

Usually rain hurts the team with the most athletes equaling traction and the ability to use their speed.

I'll take Central's style in the mud over Wayne County's.
Wayne depends a lot on short/intermediate passing with timing routes. They also depend on that shotgun snap and lots of ball handling on their read option and play action. Lots more moving pieces that require precision.
I still think Wayne County appears to be the favorite on paper.. but a wet field definitely plays in the hand of a Central team who is more power oriented and makes a killing off special teams gaffes and turnovers.

This should be a real good one but based off what Wayne did to Corbin I will take Wayne in this one! I am pulling for Wayne to go all the way! Good Luck Cardinals

Coachdad - You may not want to pray for rain. Central will have to square off against a bunch of corn-fed country boys who have grown up muddin' on the weekends. If Wayne is smart, they will water down a practice field and do their work there this week.
11-20-2013, 11:46 AM
Farristownflyer- There is no way central will score 35 points. This will be a great game. Central has a stud defense but Wayne has a stud offense also. Central's offense tends to struggle against a hard hitting defense. They will find that Wayne co will line up and deliver hard hits. It's going to come down to who can mitigate turn overs and control the line of scrimmage.
Wayne Co. 21
Central 7
Wayne Co. 21
Central 7

Thanks for clearing that up for me coachdad I always enjoy learning something new and reading your post. With that being said I don't think central will be intimidated by Wayne's size considering the competition they play year round.you can't hit what you can't catch! Rain or snow this will be an interesting ball game. Eku basically summed it all up! Recruiting isn't necessary when you have a great reputation for success. Wise parents will send their kids to a school where they can receive a good education and enjoy athletics at the same time.
