Highlands vs. Cov Cath - Regional Final (11/22/13)
#31
Harry Rex Vonner Wrote:Not likely. The numbers would be small and would have to include some middle schoolers. The interest among the members of the student body really doesn't exist. There will be a basketball team for both the boys and the girls and both will compete as members of KHSAA. However, the level of talent is similar to the school's teams back in the late 1980s. On the other hand, they are "loved" by the other area schools since they are no longer a threat.

That's too bad...I remember Brandon Williams playing there as an 8th grader...He could have been an anchor to a pretty good team if they could have added a few more good players and might have been a turning point for the program if he had stayed..

You are correct. But, like many Rose Hill developed athletes, Brandon "migrated" to Ashland. He was and is a fine young man.

Oh, I know him and the family extremely well, and yes he is.

You have good taste in people mr seger. I graduated the same year as Brandon and he was one of my best friends through school. And his parents are great people as well. Ashland is surely lucky to call him an alumni. I will never forget the district championship game our senior year against Boyd county. He pitched one of the best games I've seen in person on any level in a 1-0 tomcat win.

If you knew the real me, I'm just as tasteful, 7200000000:biggrin:.

Anyways, he had a heck of a career in college too....

Lets see, he would have probably been matched up against either Justin Moore or Tyler Gatrell.

Birds by 14, Covcath has been sandbagging and lulling most into thinking they are down, out, and wounded. SURPRISE!!!

Another great regional championship battle between these two.

I don't think it will be anything like the regular season game, but I don't think CovCath is faking the injuries. I think they've just found a way around the obstacles that made them a better team.

The Cannon Still Roars.....

Well said. Injuries are real and still a problem. Just had a tremendous amount of heart with the remaining upperclassmen and younger players stepping up. These aren't the same players that Highlands played earlier in the year just in terms of improvement- having said that, I'm still not sure it's enough. They will play their hearts out though.

Folks better start factoring the weather Friday night into their predictions. Highlands has an exceptional passing game but rain and wind are not friends to the passing game. Couple that with a much healthier CovCath team than the first go round and I see a close game looming Friday night.
#43
I believe this will be, in reality, the Class 4-A championship game. I expect Fort Thomas to win but will root for CovCath.

You are more than welcome to use it also, if you like. I know the guy (class of 73) that designed it way back then. For a few years, in the 70's, it was the helmet decal instead of the block H.
#49
If I remember correctly, it was used on Highland's helmets at one time.

Ohh, you edited you post after I posted!!!

Confusednicker: You guys absolutely kill me with these larger than life giant egos you have. Why in the world would you think that anyone else (in this case a Black Bear) would be interested in using a HHS logo? You guys truly live in your own little world...

Oh, I'll store it and use it if we ever play Highlands again!! I can put it in a black bear's mouth or something like that! When Highlands played in Harlan County a few years ago, we stuffed the cannon with blue feathers so they would shoot out every time we scored.
Wink

In all seriousness, I really do like the avatar!!

Thanks Blue Boy, I'm honored and humbled just to be here...

Or you could take it to Proctor and Gamble to see if you could have it printed on your toilet paper..

Personally I think your (eat chicken) turkey is more appropriate when you throw their egos into equation...

Being of such high intellect, I would have thought that you of all people would have realized I was kidding. I am sure Granny would use my bird right after I used a Blue Colonel.

Sorry, I don't understand the reference to a Blue Colonel....

Well, I did notice that the Bell/Central thread is still going strong, and it was just as old as the one we were using to fight.
