Both teams and coaching staffs have a lot to proud of, but the fans are leaving a lot to be desired regarding class and dignity.
I could point out that a Belfry player also said on twitter that they are already watching film of Wayne County and not even focusing on Bourbon County.
In the end it's all about the kids, not the fans.
Hoping for an injury free and great football game. Can't wait to see this one.
Well said!

Chasin Bucs Wrote:We will be hearing the pads POP early in this game! I think the Pirates will over power Bourbon in the end, and it won't be as close as what people may imagine. Bourbon hasn't played against an O-line and backfield like Belfry this year and won't be able to go 4 quaters with them. Belfry's D has played with some high powered offense's this year and have been successful (minus JC). The new D is also better than before, although I like Dakota Stanley better than Catron at LB. Catron isn't bad, but he lacks the size to stuff a big gaurd or tackle at the LOS IMO. He will definelty lay the big hit though.
It put a smile on my face to see Hatfield get some carries last game! Hopefully he gets more this week. Carr is a great FB, but I like Hatfield better at that position. Johnson, Carr and Hatfield is one deadly combination in the backfield!
Belfry 42
Bourbon 14
After watching film, I can promise this won't be a 28 point game either way.
If Belfry misses tackles like they did against JC, or gives up the deep ball like they did against PCC Belfry will be playing catch up.
That being said Bourbon has to pick their poison better this year. Last year they played a guessing game and Belfry's QB did a nice job of reading the defense. The Best and only way to slow down a belly read scheme is to pick your poison and stick with it. If you feel more comfortable stopping the option, take the fb and hb and force the option. If you feel more comfortable with your middle LBs sit your DT in the hole and make the qb give it to the fb, and like wise if you feel more comfortable with the second back, have your DT take the first back and hopefully your end is better than their tackle. Its a very hard offense to stop, and when ran and read perfectly is essentially unstoppable, but it is also a very turnover laden offense if reads are missed. Only time will tell ... but I don't think this will be a blowout either way....

The field is right behind the high school.

Hatfield at LB has turned the D around IMO. I'm not saying he is the best defensive player on the field, but it just seems like a completely different D when he is out there in full force. Our D did a better job at stopping the pass last week, although the weather could have played a role in that. I don't see our D playing lackadaisical like they played in previous games.
With that being said, I could be WAY wrong.

Like most typical Haywood teams I believe this squad of Pirates are hitting their stride just at the right time. Defense is fast. May be one of the quickest D's I've seen. With the backfield back to 100% it's sure to be an exciting game.

Pirate Pal Wrote:Sheww!! This thread is EXHAUSTING!!! Let's see if I can summarize what I've learned about this Friday's game from reading this...
1. Bourbon County has 2 fast players. (OK, there are 9 other players out there with them isn't there? Or does this team solely compete with only those 2?)
2. Bourbon's team is not the same team as last years. (Unless there were no seniors last year or there were seniors who didn't graduate, that is pretty much a given)
3. Belfry is a "mediocre" team. (Give me a minute to stop laughing on that one!)
4. Belfry better not fumble the ball. (HALLELUJAH!!!)
5. Bourbon County will not have enough seating for the Pirate Fans (Seats or not, we'll still be there)
6. Buckslover might have to announce out in the cold. (Dress warmly!)
7. Football Junky might or might not have the nerve to ask for Whitey at the game (I really hope he has the nerve and that I'm there to see the reaction on his face)
8. It really irks people that there are some kids from WV that transferred to Belfry (IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OR MIDDLE SCHOOL...sorry, it's life, get over it)
9. People think that Belfry is the team that has something to prove in this game (Although I don't recall Bourbon County getting to State in the past few years...umm, nope that would be Belfry and Central, albeit we didn't win, we were in the game, where was Bourbon County?)
10. That neither side really wants to give either team much credit. (Typical)
Yep, that about summarizes this thread
Bourbon has more than 2 fast kids and they certainly don't plan on riding 2 players into this game or any game. And the majority of Bourbon fans know that this will be a tough game for both sides. Both teams have worked hard to get to the Semi finals and everyone needs to respect their hard work.

actual info about the game from a reliable source
" Coach Haywood spoke with their coach today and was told that Visitor seating was only available for round 300, but there was plenty of standing room, or several visitors bring their own lawn chairs"

Good post man.
The one thing I will add that I am sure the BoCo staff is not happy about is the fact Belfry's offense looks completely different with the different backfield combos they use.
FB Carr/HB Dari/HB Johnson- Geared much more toward big plays with second man through or outside on the sweep. Carr is constant up the middle but not a big play threat on the dive.
FB Hatfield/HB Carr/HB Johnson- The most complete package. Big play ability on the FB dive, Big play ability on the counter, big play ability on the option with the best accompanying blocking
FB Hatfield/HB Johnson/HB Dari- The quickest Belfry backfield. Not especially good on the blocking side, but the option can go either direction and probably the best for passing
FB Fletcher/HB Carr/HB Dari- Least likely for the homerun ball outside, but the tailor made for converting 3rd and 3's because of their ability to hit the whole and get a forward lean
There are other combos that are shades of grey to each other..but these are the primary looks that are all different than each other and require special attention in game planning.
On top of that, throw in Sani's ability to run... the random appearance by Keaton Taylor at HB instead of WR, and how Belfry's offense changes depending on if they use double tights or a single tight and suffice to say it requires quite a bit of discipline and prep work... even moreso than Bourbon had last year. Having Johnson and Dari truly has changed the entire look of Belfry's backfield since last season and Taylor is extremely dangerous at SE when teams get caught staring into the backfield.

I always like when we see Coach Haywood throw in a wrinkle in games like Lawrence, such as two splits to one side of the field. I wonder if he does that because he wants to run it, or because he wants that to be another thing weighing on Coach Hodge's mind.

I say we don't play the game and let belfry play Alabama for the national title they are way to good for highschool sports . Must run ten defenses and run a quadruple option with five wide receivers . They have moved more players around and made so many changes I'm sure saban couldn't figure it out

The Yankees and Red Sox has become too much of a rivalry opposite of this, they seem to hate each other only on the field but then do this and that and it doesn't have that feel of a back yard "nasty" I don't f'n like you brawl such as WVU/Pitt or Ohio State/Michigan. That's what Belfry and Breathitt was to me and tbh I missed that this year.
I missed it this year as well. Hopefully in a couple of years the bobcats will be competitive enough to make this a rivalry once again. In the meantime, good luck Friday night, and bring back a championship to the mountains.
