Ive seen both times live this year. Bourbon Co. several times and Belfry twice. There is no question that Bourbon is the favorite. Way too much speed and size for the Pirates this year. Belfry is good but this years Bourbon team is head and shoulders about the young Pirates. Im going to be conservative in a prediction but it could get real ugly for the Pirates.

This is a best case scenario for the Pirates, play a good game and limit their turnovers and they stay within 7-14 points. Put the ball on the ground, miss tackles and have stupid penalties and its a running clock by the 3rd Quarter. Believe me, Bourbon is THAT GOOD this year!!! The good news is that Belfry wont have to make the long trip to BG this year and come back with another runner up trophy.

We will be hearing the pads POP early in this game! I think the Pirates will over power Bourbon in the end, and it won't be as close as what people may imagine. Bourbon hasn't played against an O-line and backfield like Belfry this year and won't be able to go 4 quaters with them. Belfry's D has played with some high powered offense's this year and have been successful (minus JC). The new D is also better than before, although I like Dakota Stanley better than Catron at LB. Catron isn't bad, but he lacks the size to stuff a big gaurd or tackle at the LOS IMO. He will definelty lay the big hit though.

It put a smile on my face to see Hatfield get some carries last game! Hopefully he gets more this week. Carr is a great FB, but I like Hatfield better at that position. Johnson, Carr and Hatfield is one deadly combination in the backfield!

We could be going up against any team, at any level, in the entire world and we would still find ways to root for out Pirates and swear they had a chance. It's a passion many will never understand. We could be in the midst of a 100 game losing streak with a 9 man roster and we will still thump our chest. Win or Lose it's a way of life.

the fans aren't the ones playing but some get bent out of shape just a tad, but I like the kids knowing that what they have done over the last 10 yrs that they are the underdogs because how BC has crushed everything in there way ...

Actually, I graduated in 1989 from Belfry and don't recall the name Bourbon County ever being mentioned as a school Belfry hates..Breathitt Co-yes, Pike Central-yes, Danville-yes(80's), Louisville Central-YES!!!, Pikeville (until the past several years)-yes, Bourbon County-Nope!

Pike Central did not exist in 1989.

Prestonsburg, Sheldon Clark, Johnson Central were definitely mentioned as hated in my lifetime.

I don't mind being hated. It means you have beaten the team who is hating on you.

You're a class act Granny And one of the main reasons that this Pirate fan rooted for Harlan Co. this year (after the Belfry game, of course!):Thumbs:

Those too Belfry0304, but as much as Belfry loved beating Prestonsburg, we respected them and cheered for them against others in the playoffs and it was mutual. SC & JC on the other hand....

As we do the Pirates when we are not playing them. I personally went to round 2 & 3 at Belfry last year and cheered them on. Some nice folks in the parking lot even fed my friend and I, even though we was wearing our Blackcat attire.

The excitement around Paris has been on a level that I've never seen before, add the possibility that everybody in between Paris and South Williamson might be coming to the game and we might have the best atmosphere high school football has ever seen in this state. The passion is there on both sides, you all believe you can win, as do we. Friday night, the players prove which side is right.

I have never hated P'Burg. I miss our games and I have very close friends from P'burg and one I would have as my own brother if I could and he wore the Blackcat uniform.

Between the respect for Jamerson in 2003 and the two epic battles in 2004 I will always have a soft spot for Pburg
